  • Odin wordlessly pointed to the pointed wooden pillar he’d pushed open and squeezed through. He vaguely wondered how Alec and Widow would be able to squeeze through, since the pillars were pretty close together, but figured he’d better not point it out. They’d be able to figure out a way through it anyway and him suggesting anything might cause more trouble than needed. He continued to look down at the ground, unwilling to meet Alec’s gaze.

    • Alec looked at the pillar Odin had pointed out and frowned. He moved to it and pushed it open. It was very small. His mind danced around an idea for a few seconds and only did stop when he heard shouting from Deku outside. He sighed, seeing as there was no other choice. "Well, it seems like Widow and I aren't small enough to pass through there," he began telling Odin. He glanced quickly at Widow and then returned to rummaging his pack. "So, it seems we're going to have to do something about that." After another second of rummaging he pulled out what he had been looking for. Even now, in the dim palace light, it looked deadly. A bomb. He looked at Widow apologetically and placed the bomb in the hole. Quickly taking a match from his pack he lit the fuse and ran back to Widow and Odin. He pulled them together and as far away from the bomb as possible. "OK, Odin, now I need you to cover your ears and close your eyes. Hurry now, before the hole goes bye-bye." He covered them with his own body as much as he could and nodded at Widow firmly.

      • He'd never actually seen a bomb go off before, as his people tended not to keep the things around because of its fire hazard, so he was admittedly slightly curious about it. However, Odin obediently hunched over to make himself smaller than he already was, covering his ears and eyes. He huddled himself closer to Widow and Alec and waited to see what would happen next.

        • widow covered Odin with her arms, just to make sure that Alec didn't acidently set him on fire "carful Alec" widow said "Odin is part..... wait are deku part tree or plant, or what. it doesn't matter right now. just freaking get us out of here without setting your son on fire" widow sighed sometimes I wish I never met these guys she thought less stress on my part, but then I always remember how cold my life was before they came into it

          • Alec held back a smile as Widow tried to decipher what Odin was. A few seconds later the resounding boom shook the palace walls. Alec straightened up shaking off dirt and debris that had flown off. Luckily it seemed none of it had hit Odin. He turned to see what the bomb had caused. Surprising for the amount of noise it made, the hole had grown not as much as he had expected, but big enough for them to pass. And pass they needed to do quickly because the sound had made the deku guards even more angry. "Alright, come on," he said to the other two as he led the way through the wall.

            • Odin stifled a cry as the bomb exploded, the loud boom causing his ears to ring. He gasped and pressed the palms of his hands to the side of his head, trying to figure out where all the sounds had gone. He saw Alec's lips move but heard nothing come out. Worried, he was about to ask Alec what'd happened to him but found himself being ushered through the now broken walls.

                • Once outside Alec didn't stop. He led the other two further away from the palace. He didn't even stop to look back at the guards that began poking their heads out the hole. There wasn't any time. As soon as he was able to, he turned into a corner and stopped, hidden behind a tree. He tried to catch his breath as he finally looked at Odin and Widow. Widow looked a little worried, but he knew that was worry for Odin. As his eyes fell on the little Deku he noticed the fear and confusion in his eyes. It was more than he could handle. Now that they were safely outside the palace, he finally had a chance to say hello to Odin properly. Without further thought he embraced the little Deku in a tight hug and shut his eyes. "Are you OK? Please tell me you're OK? I was so worried," he mumbled quietly, letting all his warmth extend to the Deku, trying to let him know that there was nothing to worry about.

                  • As they fled the palace grounds, the sounds of the swamp slowly started to come back to him, much to his relief, although there was still that annoying, faint ringing in his ears. They finally stopped in a forested area and to his surprise, Alec suddenly reached out and pulled him into an embrace. His strained ears heard him ask if he was okay. Those words combined with the hug he felt he didn't deserve, he was suddenly filled with a great shame as he remembered what'd happened back inside his old home. He knew he should tell them. It was the right thing to do and they had to know. Even if it meant...
He pushed himself away from Alec and looked down at the ground to hide his sad eyes.
Even if it meant they'd hate him forever.
                    "I made Jacob die."

                    • "what" widow said, kneeling down so that she was at eye level with Odin "what happend odin, how did you make Jacob die." widow knew that Odin would have never killed anyone, not on purpose. however she also knew that Odin was too sweet to blame anyone but himself "I'll never stop loving you Odin" she said softly, hoping to ease some of his fear "we will never stop loving you"

                      • Widow's words brought on another fresh wave of guilt, causing the tears he was holding back to flow once more. He was already tired of crying, so much had happened that day. But it didn't seem like the day would be ending anytime soon. Through sobs, he squeaked in a tiny voice, "My o-other m-mommy was...was mad, and she...she was going to hurt Jacob and I tried to tell her no but then..." In an instant he threw himself onto Widow's shoulder and wrapped his little arms around her neck. "I'm s-s-sorry!" The rest of the words came in a rush. "She kept saying she wanted something from me but I don't know what it was and if I just gave it to her then everyone would be happy and Jacob would be here!" Now spent, he dropped his forehead on her shoulder and just stayed like that, still whimpering and sniffing. "Don't be mad," he added quietly. "'kay?"

                        • "oh Odin" widow said, hugging him tightly "I could never be mad at you. I will admit, I'm mad at your mother, what kind of person would use their own child. it's not your fault Odin, you can't control other people's actions. I'm sure Jacob will be happy knowing that you're safe from your evil mother" she stood up, lifting Odin up with her "I doubt she would have spared Jacob anyway, even if you had done what she wanted you to" she kissed his forehead softly "I'm happy at least one of my sons was able to survive"

                          • Alec smiled sadly at Odin. He knew how hard it must be for the little guy, knowing how sentimental he could get and taking into account everything he'd been through. He got on eye level with the little Deku and spoke gently. "Odin, there is nothing you could have done to change the course of events today. You did everything you could, and you did it right." He smiled again for Odin to see. "You know I'm glad you didn't do what they told you to, because you showed her that you are not her property. Now maybe even she'll realize what she's done is wrong and ask for your forgiveness." Standing up straight now, he added as he remembered something else, "Besides, you're not the only child of ours that survived today. Jacob is alive, and we have to go meet him now." He waited for his response.

                            • Alec’s words only depressed Odin even more. He slowly shook his head. “I saw a knife go through him. And then Jacob wasn’t Jacob anymore.” He wondered how much sense he was making right now. Well he didn’t care. They’d figure it out eventually. He just wished that he didn’t have to be the one to deliver the bad news. He fidgeted around anxiously, wanting to get out of there already.

                              • Alec smiled sadly, but decided it'd be best not to try and convince Odin right now. If whoever had taken control of Jacob's body had fulfilled his promise, and Alec sure hoped so, Jacob should now be alive back in Clocktown. And that's where they needed to go now. He pulled Odin onto his arms and held him tight. He then extended his hand to Widow. "Shall we go?"
