An eventful, and oftentimes chaotic, near century has succeeded the events of the Calamity that befell the Hyrulean continent. Queen Zelda ruled for a prosperous 40 years, rebuilding the Hylian country and working with the leaders of the other factions to restore the once great land back to its former glory. With her peaceful death came the rule of her son, King Kadir, and with him came four decades of prosperity withering away; of worsening inter-factional relations, of increase in crime throughout the continent, and of an iron-fisted rule from the Royal Family. The leaders of the Gerudo, Gorons, and Sheikah were often at odds with those of the Hylians and a toxic diplomatic concoction had come to a boil by the end of Kadir’s reign: the Gerudo and Gorons on the verge of declaring war on the Hylians, the Sheikah under military occupation by the Hylians, Kadir with increasing signs of paranoia and senility, and the Council of Families struggling to keep a hold of their king. After 40 years, Kadir was finally forced to step down and his son, King Roark, became the ruler of the Hylians.
Roark spent the entirety of his reign making an effort to restore the peace between the Hylians and the rest of the continent. Though his many gifts and concessions proved enough to momentarily prevent further interfactional conflict and mend some relations, his fragile peace was made even more precarious by growing conflict within his own ranks, the increased displeasure between some of his council members and himself being widely known around the kingdom. Adding to that, a growing conflict between Roark’s army and different criminal groups around the country was a clear sign of the mounting insecurity still very present. Whatever his intentions, all of his work rapidly and shockingly came to an end after only 10 years when Roark was mysteriously killed at sea in an accident involving a Big Octo and one of his councilmen, details of which are mostly unclear. Roark’s daughter, at this time only 15 years of age and woefully unprepared for the role, was forced to ascend the throne and be crowned Queen.
Now in present time, with the fragile peace Roark tried so hard to forge at great risk of shattering, unfulfilled royal promises left up in the air, an increasingly forceful and angering subset of the Council of Families, a raging conflict between the Hylian army and the many criminal groups in existence, and the youngest ruler the Hylian country has ever had on the throne, all eyes in the continent have now turned to Queen Talisha and the Hyrulean World’s Fair.
The Hyrulean World’s Fair is set to be a time for every faction on the continent to come together and share their crafts, trades, and experiences. Hundreds of tents, tables, and makeshift stages have been built and set-up on Hyrule Field, stretching from Mabe Village all the way to the very gates of Castle Town. Originally, this was an idea crafted by King Roark as a way to undo the damage done by his predecessor, King Kadir. Roark’s plans for the Fair were massive, and he had planned on it lasting anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, depending on the resources available. Although he had passed away before seeing his plans come to fruition, his daughter, the newly crowned Queen Talisha, is making one of her first acts as queen to ensure the Fair is put together. Even the Sheikah, who were originally to be excluded from the festivities for fear of another Guardians incident, have been invited after Queen Talisha’s insistence. It has been decades since the Sheikah were allowed outside of Kakariko Village, which makes this an exciting event for them.
Being one of the Royal Family’s few remaining allies, the Zora will likely be first to arrive in Hyrule Field, eager to help out the young Queen. Their biggest and most popular musical sensation, Tsunami 6, fronted by a young Zora named Mikela, is set to play the opening ceremony. The Rito Guard and the Royal Guard have joined forces to provide security for the event to ease the populations’ concerns of gang violence at the event. The other factions of Hyrule, still bitter with the Royal Family due to the late King Kadir’s actions, are reluctant to lend their resources, but are still due to be in attendance.
