Well it's Saturday for North America which means it is now time to announce who the new moderator will be. But first, I want to break down how and why we decided and how close it was.
As stated in the app, there were three things I posted to be required for the application: the position which was given as moderator, how active you are, and why you think you would be good for the position.
So here's what myself, and the rest of the staff did. I first posted a thread in the staffroom about it so we can discuss the issue. As I was brought attention to, several members held an internal poll in which, from my understanding, you guys discussed who you'd like to see as staff. If I recall correctly seven members voted amongst themselves and it was 6-1 for Z.
Did this help sway our decision? Yes. So that's one for Z, and zero for everyone else. Then we looked at the activity. Everyone but Falcon are on most of the time. We understand that Falcon usually gets bogged down with schoolwork, which is natural, and you're not the only member. But that brings it to Z: 2, Midna: 1, Blender: 1
Now we looked at previous experiences as either a moderator or administrator of both Age of War and other sites alike. Up to my knowledge, Z is the only one who has no prior experience so that brings the score to the following: Z: 2, Midna: 2, Blender: 2 Falcon: 1
We felt that diplomacy was another necessity for being mod. Especially someone who can quickly put their foot down should a conflict arise. This was a little harder for us to decide. But we had discussed and I also asked some of you, as well as taking prior conflict outcomes, and I assembled something together. We chose it to Z and Blender. We couldn't decide definitively, so I'm giving it to both of you. Z has demonstrated he will assert his foot down from one of my arguments the other night, but I won't neglect Blender as he was striving to do the same. That brings the score to Z: 3, Midna: 2, Blender: 3, Falcon: 1
As unfair as this may be for some of the users, we also looked at grammar. We feel that a moderator should be, for the most part, grammatically correct. I understand that several of the users, myself included, login from a device. And I fully understand that typing on a device is difficult. However, as I've been stressing to a couple members, if you take an extra few seconds, to ensure your post and typing is correct, you won't have to worry. Also, on that note, most smart devices come with a standard English (or Native) language spell check. I take advantage of this. After that, the score is now: Z: 4, Midna: 2, Blender: 4, Falcon: 1
After all of this, we came to a tie between Z and Blender. What was the tiebreaker? Well I listened to the candidates opinions on site improvements and suggestions, as well as essentially your motives as to why you applied. Most, if not all, of the candidates were feeling somewhat "useless" around here and that being staff would rid them of their self-diagnosed disease. Since that was a shared feeling between most, if not all, of the candidates, I couldn't use that as a means. Which is why I turned to suggestions. Which, I based on quality of suggestions, and the quantity, I felt that Z wins this. So this brings the score to a Z: 5, Midna: 2, Blender: 4, Falcon: 1
In addition the staff also held an internal poll. We reflected on most of the topics above and we decided with 4 votes for Z, and 1 vote undetermined.
So without further ado, congratulations to Z64 as our new moderator!
As promised, you are now also, the spokesperson and representative for the registered members usergroup. Which consists of being the voice of the registered members and anything that the staff wants to do that involves the registered members also goes through Z.
