  • Happy Birthday, Age of War! (2 years)

Here we are, once again, 365 days after the last time. It's already been another year. To make this post as cliché as possible, I want to say it feels as though it was only yesterday when I was posting this thread last year. This year was a whole 'nother adventure. I can't say it was all good, no of course not. But, I can say that the bad moments make the good ones even sweeter. Even though it feels so short, it was a looooong year. So many things happened it'd be impossible to retell them all, but I will try my best. Like last year, everyone feel free to come to this thread and post anything you want to congratulate the site, the other members, and show your appreciation for them.
Like I said before, it wasn't an easy year. We've lost a lot of members, but more importantly, we've lost a lot of very good friends. As always, life gets in the way, and it gets too hard to find time to come on to the site. However, no matter if they ever come on or not, I feel inside that they will never forget us, and we definitely will never forget them. I love you guys, and I love this site. No matter how much it falters or slows, it will remain alive as long as we're here, and that's what counts.
So without further ado, here is my gift to the site. Like last year, it is a compilation of everything we've done. It's not perfect, much less than that. Some of the pictures are read from up to down, but most of them are down to up, so be sure to keep an eye on that. Also, most of them will flash by too quickly to be read properly, so my recommendation is: Watch in in full screen, and when you want to stop and read just click the spacebar. Also, if you don't fancy the music it's OK, it is mostly just to fill the space, you don't need to listen to it. Just watch the pictures, and enjoy remembering...
    Happy birthday, Age of War!

    part one:

    part two:

Here are the quotes used in the video. All of them belong to members of Age of War:

"Age of War is a good part of me; of all of us. We met on a forum board, and we had a bucketful of laughs. Two bucketfuls! Five gallon buckets. More than that! We've moved, we've fought, we've almost split but we managed to hold together like a bridge of ants. We're fading now, and it almost feels like a part of me is being taken away. I know with school and everything, and growing up its hard to make time, but it's not easy to just forget about everyone either!

Age of War means more to me than anybody will ever understand. The people here helped me though a lot, and put up with my bull****. That's more than a lot of people have done. You guys have give me advice, gotten me out of trouble, and sometimes in a little bit, haha. Sometimes if I sit and think, just how much sh*t I would be in had I not met you guys. Pretty deep man.

Age of War has helped everybody here. Helped them with everything from school to personal problems. The things the community has done have brought us all closer together, and I feel a bit guilty for never quite finishing what I wanted to present to the site. Ok maybe not a bit. Maybe a lot.
Ok yes a lot. But between not having the motivation and school and people, it's just been gathering dust. I think the fabric also came a little too close to an open blue marker and dyed it. Looks pretty neat though.

Age of War is a family. We're a pretty cool crack team of family members but we are what we are. Kairu's like the weird dad I never had, and will probably be a better father than mine. J, Falc, Ell, even Zeke, all brothers man. Midna and HBC are like older sisters, Blendercat is that cousin you can't stand but you know your life wouldn't be the same without.
Sometimes I have flashbacks of the summer nights, and I can't help but laugh. And almost get sent out of class. :I"

Alright, 2 years! Who's ready for the third?

Also, now I know everything I say.....is being recorded. And then stored away to later be put in a video that we call our anniversary video.

-RUNS IN WITH TWIGS IN HER HAIR AND A COMPOSITION BOOK-
I'M NOT LATE I'M LIKE AN HOUR EARLY

This was written a while ago so don't feel bad if you didn't get one because I still love you all -banned smiley-

              Jborogon
J... we've laughed, cried, probably yelled a ta few people together as well. Your RP skills will forever surpass mine, and where i can write out something good and do quick fire posting, you can take just a little longer and make your posts that much cooler. The way your mind works amazes me. Your creativity and the way you put things into clarity and speak. One day you're gonna grow up to be a successful man, with a great wife, and maybe some kids.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if I lived to see you own the next big company. The things you write about all the members of Age of War warm my heart, and I value our friendship more that you will ever know. I am literally unable to put into words how much I value you as a person; if I ever think of the crazy past nights with you, Falc, Ell, sometimes even DN and GL before they bailed, I grin like an idiot and laugh until I cry.
You are more to me than a brother, a friend, and an RPer.

              adfalcon
Crazy ride, huh man? From fighting over small sh*t and slamming hands on coffee tables. You're that brother I always wanted to have, but like J, it's like, you're more than a brother and a friend. You left and came back a few times, but nobody really forgot you were there. I guess its hard to forget somebody like you.
Ell, J, and you, some of my best friends on Age of War. To meet the three of you,l amazing. I'd probably be lame and freak out and cry and giggle and have flashbacks. One day, when you, Jay and I are eighteen, seeing as though Ell already is, can we plan a meet-up?

              Eko

Ell, Silver, Elliot, you started CapitalDColonitis. Helping you with your project was probably one of the best things I've done, in, well, ever. It was nice to talk to our dear friend Ell; lucky I was home alone that night. From what I've heard (or maybe this is my memory being lame) you're the brother of a few siblings? And a loving one at that; a better older sibling than me. I still have the magazine cover you made me for my 14th birthday, which still warms my heart when I read it. I don't think anybody broke your Validation code, but everything you wrote, the bits and pieces of it, could be put together to represent all members of Age of War, I think. Don't let the collage classes kill you, okay?

              Zeke Wolfe

Should anybody be more like an older brother, it's you. Giving me advice on life, as well as other things, haha. Instead of giving me crap about a mistake, you congratulated me. You're the chill older brother that keeps me from trouble and won't rat me out to mom. It's pretty lame how you bailed from the site, but that's okay. You had some plausible reasons, life's hard, y'know? You'll get a girl sooner or later, there's always somebody for everybody. Some people might just have to wait a little longer, making the finding of the right person that much sweeter.

              HyrulianBlackCat
The mother and peacekeeper of Age of War, as it seems. You've stayed by the site through thick and thin, and if memory serves, the one who brought me here from ZD in the first place. It's been a crazy two years, but some of the best two years ever. Your creativity is engraved in your soul, and I hope one day you'll publish a book. Perhaps under a penname so we could make sure we've got the right gal? You're one of the most inteligent people I know, and that, coupled by your originality and natural writing ability, will get you far in life. Just like with J. If one day you meet a nice guy and maybe have some kids of your own, I hope you'll get them into video games, just like you, an deven introduce them to RPing.

              Blendercat
What can I say about the Canadian Kewl-Kat with a blender body? We've hit a few rough patches but you're a pretty chill guy as waell as a great RPer. Keep up the good work, especially with school plays. Maybe shoot for bein' an actor?

              Kairu
Kairu, the one who took over the site when Zeke left it and kept us together. Althoguh I will admit you come of as a little strict at first, lookin' back, we were a bit rowdy. I went on ZD once per request to whip an RP into shape (or rather, try) and I came of as mean. On age of War what I said probably would have been acceptable *or y'know not* and I got reported. SO reely, you aren't all bad. I know life hasn't been reel good in the past few months, unless my sense of time is off, as usual. I hope things look up, but remember that should you ever need it, I'm willing to help in any way I can. Remember what I told Zeke too, the longer it takes for things to look up, the sweeter the end result.

And to all of Age of War.

We are a family, more than just a communit. More than just a ragtag group of RPers. From the time on Age of War, I myself have found a positive outlet for creativity, and a way to refine and sculpt my writing skills. I know months have passed and I've been really inactive, and I apologize. Between school and RPing and a crack group of Homestuck fans, I greatly neglected AoW. It's my own fault, between failling to make new characters when the other ones were left in a rut or killed off, and, just failing to come online. You are as much a part of me as my dogs, or my cat, and I hope it will always be so. From staying up until 5 AM with sheds and black presidents, and coffee tables, to driving off LD (which I regret), to moving sites and threads, rebelling, to coming to terms with changes.
Although friends change and people may move, the memories, good and bad, will forever be a part of me.
              Of you.
              Of Age of War.
