I say to help Tails as well; he can't fight so good.
Also, if you want a battle idea, try Link vs. Ichigo Kurosaki.

      Shadow: Decision 4

Shadow ran towards Kirby and Tails. He remembered this puffball. He had followed Sonic to the other universe and helped him by slowing his opponents down with the power of Chaos Control.

When he got in range, Shadow kicked Kirby into the wall. Tails took a second to get what just happened through his head, considering it took about a millisecond.

"Go help Sonic. I'll take care of this freak."

Tails wanted to protest, but he knew Sonic needed the help. Metal Knuckles almost killed Sonic before, so who knew what Mecha Knuckles could do (Metal is a robot, and Mecha is a roboticized Mobian that has been weaponized, or a super powerful Metal).

As Tails ran off to help Sonic, Kirby came out of the wall. As soon as the puffball turned around, the beating began. It was clear that Kirby was no match for Shadow.

When Kirby was clearly beaten, Shadow threw him into the air, and finished him off with a Chaos Spear. Sonic would've had something to say about that, but he was busy with Mecha Knuckles.

"Mecha Knuckles, finish the hedgehog! Mega Silver Sonic! Go!"

Shadow's eye twitched when Eggman said this. From what he knew, Silver Sonic was the prototype for Metal Sonic, and was usually the last line of defense in any Eggman Base. Over the years, he had gone from Sonic's size to ten times Sonic's size. If he had been upgraded to MEGA Silver Sonic, that was definitely not good.

A hole in the roof opened, and Mega Silver Sonic fell into the arena. He was about the size of a Transformer or King Kong.

Shadow, however, wasn't worried. From the looks of it, Eggman hadn't upgraded Mega Silver Sonic's armor, but he probably had some new tricks, like a shield or new attacks. Behind him, it looked like Sonic was about to bite the dust, and Tails was too tired to do anything.

      A) Destroy Mega Silver Sonic before he has a chance to reach full power, and let Mecha Knuckles take care of Sonic and Tails.

      B) Save Sonic and Tails, disable Mecha Knuckles, and fight Mega Silver Sonic at maximum power.

      C) Throw Mecha Knuckles at Mega Silver Sonic, then buy Sonic and Tails time while fighting what are possibly the most overpowered robots in the history of Sonic.

      D) Teleport Sonic and Tails to the Tornado, and run away (This will give Eggman time to upgrade Mecha Knuckles and Mega Silver Sonic).

I must agree with SW, just because sometimes it's good to see the world burn.

                Shadow: Decision 5

Story so far: In a dream, Shadow imagined he was in a deserted Mobius (Earth), and the only other person alive was Sonic, who was dying. As Shadow left him to die, he woke up (this made Shadow's mood neutral towards Sonic).
As soon as he woke up, Eggman and Sonic seperately contacted Shadow at different times. Eggman wanted Shadow to help with his newest plan, and Sonic wanted Shadow to help find Knuckles, who had dissapeared. Shadow chose to help Sonic, which would later anger Eggman.
When they arrived at Eggman's base along with Tails, they found out Knuckles had been roboticized and weaponized, turning him into Mecha Knuckles. They also learned that Kirby, who Sonic and Shadow had met once while fighting in a different universe, had been cloned and made to serve Eggman. Kirby and Mecha Knuckles attacked Sonic and Tails, leaving Shadow open to help either one of them. He chose to help Tails.
After the clone Kirby was killed by a Chaos Spear, Mega Silver Sonic arrived on the scene. At this point in time, Sonic and Tails are at the mercy of Mecha Knuckles. Shadow has chosen to abandon his comrades and take out the biggest threat first.

Characters (already here or arriving in this chapter):
                Shadow: http://sonic.wikia.com/wiki/Shadow_the_Hedgehog
                Sonic: http://sonic.wikia.com/wiki/Sonic_the_Hedgehog
                Tails: http://sonic.wikia.com/wiki/Miles_%22Tails%22_Prower
                Knuckles(Non-roboticized):

                Eggman: http://sonic.wikia.com/wiki/Doctor_Eggman
                Amy: http://sonic.wikia.com/wiki/Amy_Rose
                Silver: http://sonic.wikia.com/wiki/Silver_the_Hedgehog

Shadow looked back at Sonic and Mecha Knuckles. It looked like he was about to say something, but then Mecha Knuckles threw him at a wall. Mecha Knuckles was going to toy with Sonic before death, but Shadow wasn't sure how much he could take.

Shadow focused back on his target, Mega Silver Sonic.

If I remove my inhibitor rings and give him everything I got, that should be enough to destroy him.

Shadow took off his inhibitor rings off, and instantly, Chaos energy surrounded him.

"No machine can match the power of the ultimate life form!" Shadow shouted, releasing all his Chaos energy in the form of multiple Chaos Spears. Mecha Knuckles' sensors picked up the large amount of Chaos energy coming from Shadow, and he "forgot" about Sonic.

"Greater threat found. New objective: Eliminate Shadow the Hedgehog."

When Shadow was done, Mega Silver Sonic was a pile of scraps, but Shadow was very tired. He put his inhibitor rings back on, and then looked at Sonic. He was alive, and so was Tails, but they were both beat up. But if they were alive...where was Mecha Knuckles?

Shadow felt something tap his shoulder, and he turned around Mecha Knuckles ready with a punch. Right before the metallic fist met Shadow's fist, a light blue aura froze Mecha Knuckles. Shadow quickly looked around, and he saw his savior: Silver the Hedgehog.

"I won't bring this up again if you admit you're tired and move out the way." Silver said, being nice and giving Shadow a chance to avoid him not letting Shadow forget that he saved him. Shadow was about to protest, but he moved out of the way. Silver would've demanded Shadow to say that he's tired, but holding Mecha Knuckles was getting bored. Silver used his mind powers to disable Mecha Knuckles, then let him go. Mecha Knuckles, unable to stand due to his lack of power, simply fell to the ground.

A few seconds later, Shadow and Silver were beside Sonic and Tails, examining their wounds when Amy randomly appeared and pushed both of them aside.

"Oh, Sonic! What happened!?" Amy said, doing what Shadow and Silver had before they had been pushed aside.

Silver looked at Shadow. "Good question. What did happen, Shadow?"

                a) Tell him the truth.
                b) Lie.
                c) Twist the story.
                d) You lie so much you practically rewrote the story.

                          Update: Shadow

So, because I plan on posting a new short story tomorrow (emphasis on plan), I decided I would post that I'm discontinuing Shadow. You guys probably already knew this was going to happen, but I wanted to make it official. I'll be sticking to short stories in this thread from now on. If you guys see me try to start a story that takes more than two posts, just send me a message saying "Z you're drunk go home" or something like that.

These are my dreams, how about yours?

(WARNING: This story contains plot spoilers about the ending of the Termina Civil War. If you would rather wait a year or so for the war to end in the RP, go ahead. Otherwise, if you don't really care, go ahead and read the following story. It's not as mind blowing as I originally planned, but it is very epic. Enjoy!)

( 3/20/14 EDIT: This entrie story is no longer canon. It was kind of canon when I wrote it, but the plan for the Civil War saga has changed much since I wrote this story.)

Maxwell lie on his bed in his brand new jail cell. Death is surely a more merciful fate than this... Maxwell said, not looking forward to living the rest of his life in this cell. As Maxwell started to hate the idea more and more, he started to think about the people he could trick.

Jacob? No, he hates me. Definitely not any of the people from Hyrule. Especially after what happened between Sephira and I. Maybe Zebulon...he did kind of freeze up after I killed Edward. It's almost as if Edward was the sole reason Zeb fought for the rebels......

Maxwell closed his eyes, his recent defeat not able to stop his evil thoughts, and eventually, he fell into a deep sleep......

(From this point on, the story is not canon in any way.)

When Maxwell woke up, he found himself in a torture chair, tied by technology unfamiliar to him.

                            What the....?

Then Max remembered. He was still Maxwell Kal, but his past was...different. However, before he could continue thinking about his past, Maxwell heard a mysterious sound. It was the sound of footsteps, but they weren't human. It was a robot. More accurately, a robot with a human inside of it.

The machine itself was about 6 feet tall, but the width was a mystery, seeing as the person controlled it was...well....fat. The machine was gray, with a secondary of red where obvious modifications were made.

The man inside of the machine had a round body, and his head seemed a bit small. Or, it would've, if it hadn't been for the big mustache that seemed to start from under his nose and go to the end of his shoulders.

No wonder he's called the Eggman.

As Eggman came closer to Maxwell, he chuckled.

"Oh ho ho ho! How are we doing today, Maxy? Waiting to watch me give your furry friends a run for their money? Oh ho ho ho!" Eggman said, mockingly Maxwell as he did every morning.

Maxwell spit at Eggman, getting him in the face.
"Sonic is going to spin dash your shameful machines into so many pieces you'll spend the rest of your life trying to put them back together like a bad jigsaw puzzle!" Maxwell yelled.

Eggman wiped the spit away, then frowned.
"Bad Maxy. I'm afraid you have just set the record for how early you can get shocked." Eggman said, pressing a button.

Soon, jolts of electricity shocked Maxwell, hurting him enough so that he would learn his lesson, but not enough to kill. Maxwell found himself panting afterwards, his hate for Eggman growing.

                            "I'll....kill....you...."

                            Later that day...

During Eggman's "lunch break", an alarm went off in the base, and suddenly a TV screen in the wall across from Maxwell's chair turned on. It showed Sonic, Tails, Amy, and Knuckles outside of the base, battling some of Eggman's Egg-Swat bots. The Egg-Swats were a mixture of the old Swatbots from the "Robotnik" era, and the more modern Egg series. Despite the many differences in hardware and software, Sonic and his friends had no problem taking them down. The only advantage the robots had was number.

"Ho ho ho! Your friends are tearing the Egg-Swats up, just as expected!" Eggman said, moving close to the screen.

"However, when I send out Team Metal, they'll either be too tired or distracted to fight back!"

As Eggman pressed loads of buttons on his machine, Maxwell felt himself begin to slip back into Termina.

"N-no...n-not now....n-not this early..." Maxwell said, unintentionally loud enough for Eggman to hear.

Eggman turned around to look at Maxwell and grinned. "Oh, it looks like the little universe hopper is going back to his Giant worshiping self! You must regret trying to control the Master Emerald with YOUR shameful machines!"

Maxwell became angrier, but Eggman was right. Maxwell didn't fully understand it himself, but after trying to gain control of the Master Emerald's power to destroy Eggman, he had accidentally fused his soul with his counterpart in another universe, forcing him to constantly fall asleep in this world as his other body woke up in the other. It was almost as if the Master Emerald had cursed him for trying to change it.

"I promise you t-this, Eggman....w-when I figure this out....w-when I don't have to be someone who I never want to become....I'm g-going to have my revenge...."

Maxwell closed his eyes, his hate for Eggman strong, and eventually, he fell into a deep sleep....

                              Dws

Shadow opened his eyes for the first time. He was in a pod, mostly metal, with glass in front. Outside the glass, he could see an old man in a lab coat, who looked eager for Shadow to step out.

Ok...the Ark...is that my...location? My name...Shadow. The Ultimate Life Form. Purpose...unknown. And the man outside of this pod...wait, pod. What does that mean? A container? Yes. How do I know this?

The glass part lifted up, letting Shadow step outside. At first, Shadow stayed, not knowing what to do, freaking out on the inside.

"Hello, Shadow. My name is Gerald Robotnik. You can call me Professor. I am your creator. Please step towards me."

Shadow gave the professor a weird look. Step towards me? Shadow moved his foot forward.

"Yes, that's it. Your basic muscle memory should kick in. Come on, just move towards me."

Suddenly, without thinking, Shadow was able to move towards his creator. As he stepped out, he looked around him. The room was small, and seemed focused on Shadow's pod. There was one control panel, which the professor was standing behind, which was on Shadow's left. On Shadow's right, there was a little blonde girl in a blue dress. She seemed shy when Shadow looked at her. She was about his height, and didn’t seem a day over 9.

"Say hello to Shadow, Maria. He's your new friend." Maria made eye contact with Shadow, and there was a pause for a few seconds.

"Hi." Maria said, quickly waving at Shadow before breaking eye contact. Shadow slightly tilted his head in curiosity at the girl. He didn't understand what made her so shy.

"Hello, Maria." Shadow said, still looking at Maria to try and understand why she was shy.

"Ah, he speaks!" the professor said. "I was starting to think the vocal cords weren't working."

Shadow looked at the professor and wondered why he was so eager about this whole thing. "Professor......why is Maria afraid?"

The professor chuckled and shook his head. "No, Shadow, she isn't afraid. She's just shy because...well, you're the first Mobian she's ever seen, artificial or real."

                              "Artificial...am I a robot?" Shadow asked.

"No, Shadow. You are, well, in layman's terms, a lab Mobian. You're as real as any Mobian back on Mobius, but you were created, not born."

"Hmm...I am not sure how I feel about this, Professor." Shadow said looking at his hands.

"I understand. Let's just run some tests, and then I'll let you go to the observation deck, where you can see where Maria and I come from."

                              Later...

Shadow stood in the observation deck, looking down at Mobius. Having been born among the dull colors of the things that made up the Ark, seeing the colors of the planet was strange, but beautiful. Soon, Maria stood by Shadow's side.

"That's where the Professor and I come from, Shadow. Mobius." Maria said, looking at the planet. "That's where all the Overlanders like me and all the Mobians like you live. You Mobians are funny, when you think about it. You're different species of animals that all evolved to be like Overlanders, but you considered yourself one species. And what's funnier is that you guys have pets of the animals that didn't evolve. Example: there could be a Mobian dog who has a non-Mobian dog as a pet!" Maria giggled a little bit, then looked at Shadow.

"You do know what a dog is, right?"

Shadow looked at Maria. It was strange that she knew so much. Then again, she was the granddaughter of a genius. "Yes...I know what a dog is. But I haven't seen one before. Strange....Maria, how do I know this?"

Maria giggled more. "While creating you, Grandad thought it would be dumb if you started out like a baby, so he gave you knowledge about the things down on Earth, and things about Mobians and Overlanders. Like how you knew I was shy when I first saw you."

                              Shadow nodded. "I understand."

Suddenly, Shadow and Maria heard a sound. Neither of them were making it, and they were sure the Professor wasn't doing it. Soon, they saw the source.

Right in front of them, a blue box started to materialize. It had a blinking blue light on top of it, and it almost touched the roof of the observation deck. Below the light, the words "POLICE BOX" were written. When the box had fully materialized, a man stepped out.

The first thing Shadow noticed about the man was his hair. It was brunet (that's the spelling for guys), and his bangs did this weird thing where they seemed to defy gravity. The man wore a blue suit jacket and pants, with a white shirt and red tie underneath.
But the thing Shadow really payed attention to were his eyes. Usually, eyes weren’t that interesting, but this man’s eyes were different. In his eyes, you could see sadness, anger, pain, loss, love, and happiness all at the same time. They also seemed old, almost as if the man had lived for so long. It was evident that the blue box the man came from had taken him on many journeys for a long time. But it seemed strange. How could such a box be capable of doing that? There was the possibility it was bigger on the inside, but that was far beyond any technology the Overlanders had. But who was to say that he was Overlander? He looked the part, but Shadow personally didn’t think so.

The man looked around, studying the room, then noticed Shadow and Maria.

"Oh! Sorry about the abrupt entrance. I'm the Doctor. I'm looking for a Professor Gerald Robotnik. Would he be on board? This IS the space colony Ark, correct?"

Shadow and Maria stood staring at the strange man. They were still confused how a blue box could randomly appear in front of them, and have a man who knew the professor inside of it. Shadow also noticed that the stranger’s voice sounded different than that of Maria’s and the professor’s. Suddenly, the answer came up in his mind. If he’s Overlander, then he comes from a different area of Mobius that speaks a version of English that is very similar to where Maria and the Professor come from, but specific to that area.

"Oh come on, he knows me. Give him a shout." The Doctor said, oblivious how Shadow was in mid thought process and how Maria was still completely confused, not having the intelligence and reasoning that Shadow had.
"Grandpa! There's a man with a blue box that wants to see you!"

Soon, the man and the professor were in deep conversation. They seemed to have met before, because they were talking like friends who had known each other very well, but then went their own ways at a certain point.
“It’s simply not fair!” The professor said, chuckling. “You befriend me at the prime of my life, leave, then come back decades later and haven’t aged a day!”
The Doctor laughed. “Well, as you know, I only look younger. In reality, I’m way older than you.”
The professor nodded. “That’s right. The regeneration process. I always wanted to witness it, but I would never kill a friend in the name of science, even if I knew he was just going to generate a new body.”
“Plus you’d have to work in the TARDIS, and she probably wouldn’t like that, especially considering how our last meeting went.” The Doctor replied.
Gerald grew a little red at this. “Ah, yes. I remember the day clearly. You were getting changed in the TARDIS, and I tried to upload the TARDIS database into my computer. Before it even got to 10%, the door shut and cut the cable, then quickly teleported you to who knows where!”
“Yeah, it teleported me to Pre-Mobian Earth in a cell in a prison called Alcatraz. Did I ever tell you about Alcatraz? Horrible place, really. Used to contain the worst of national criminals. Got shut down eventually, though. Good riddance too. The food was absolute rubbish!”

The Doctor and Professor Gerald continued to laugh and talk for a long time, and meanwhile Shadow watched them. More specifically, the Doctor. Shadow payed close attention to the things he said, trying to get a hint on his identity.
He’s called the Doctor. He mentioned something called the TARDIS, which must be the blue box he came in. The professor mentioned a time he tried to upload the TARDIS database on his computer while the Doctor was changing inside of it, but how does that make sense? The TARDIS would have to be bigger on the inside. The Doctor left the door open, so I can check later. He also said something about being older than he appears, and the professor mentioned a regeneration process where the Doctor generates a new body, leaving no trace of the old one. Similar to snakes shedding. This process most likely changes the Doctor’s personality, but retains his memories. This man is definitely not Overlander, or if he is, he comes from an Overlander society with technology millenniums ahead of the society Gerald and Maria know.
When Shadow was sure neither the Doctor nor the professor would notice, he slipped away to the observation deck. He saw the TARDIS in the center of the room, its back towards him. Shadow went around it to find the door was almost closed. He grabbed the handle, pulled it open, and went inside.
His suspicions were right. It was bigger on the inside. The design was mostly definitely alien, but the control panel in the center looked like the ones in the Ark. There were pillars all around the control panel, but Shadow doubted they were actually supporting the ceiling. Shadow looked around for another minute, then exited so he wouldn’t be spotted in there.
It was almost time to go to sleep when Professor Gerald got an email on his computer (there is now wifi in space). He checked it, and it was the Guardian Units of Nations, or G.U.N. The subject was “Warning”. The message read:
Professor Gerald. We are aware of your contact with an alien species called the Black Arms and their involvement in the creation of Project Shadow. Our source shall remain anonymous. We will come to the Ark in a week’s time to arrest you and terminate Project Shadow. If anybody is seen assisting Project Shadow escape, they will be killed as well. Please notify the other colonists aboard the Ark that when we arrive, they are to stay in their rooms with their things ready until Project Shadow is terminated. They will then be escorted to our ships and sent back to the Earth. Then the Ark will be shut down. We expect you to present yourself at the landing bay. Thank you.
“Doctor!” Gerald called, still looking at the email. “Come here please!”
The Doctor entered the room and stood next to Gerald. “What’s wrong?” Gerald pointed to the computer screen, and the Doctor began to read. When he finished, he got that looked where you could tell he was deeply disturbed, and he was trying to hide it behind a serious face, but it just made it worse.
“Gerald…I’m sorry. You have to warn the colonists, but you, Shadow, and Maria have to be on the Ark the day they come. That’s all I can say.” The Doctor said, not daring to make eye contact with the professor.
Gerald frowned. “But Doctor….you told me history can be changed. Why can’t we change it here?”
The Doctor made eye contact with the professor. “That day is a fixed point in time. I tried changing a fixed point in time once, and I almost died. I ended up leaving a friend behind in a glass box that would’ve killed me when I tried to save him, even though I know I should’ve regenerated right then and there so a stupid prophecy could be fulfilled and he could live! And because I denied the prophecy, the Xorda Gene Bombed Earth! Now all the friends I’ve ever had are gone, and I can’t do a single thing about it!”
It was clear that the Doctor was very angry, and Gerald was scared. He made sure to pick his next words very carefully.
“I’m sorry, Doctor. I understand why I must stay. I’m very, very sorry about your friends.”
The Doctor looked at Gerald for one more second, then stormed off to the TARDIS. Gerald sat down and sighed.
I guess I should be thankful. If it weren’t for the Doctor, I would have never existed. Staying here and meeting whatever fate awaits me is the least I can do.
A day later, Gerald was sitting in his office, thinking about yesterday’s events. He now needed a favor from the Doctor, but wasn’t sure he was ready to talk. Eventually, the professor stood up, exited, and went to the TARDIS.
It was in the same place it had been when it had arrived, and the door was open. The Doctor was at the control panel, looking at a screen when he noticed Gerald standing at the door.
“Good afternoon, Doctor. I have a favor to ask of you.” Gerald said.
“What do you need, friend?” The Doctor asked, giving his full attention to the professor.
“I need you to take Shadow and the TARDIS to the center of the ARK and check on the Biolizard…the prototype. I need to know if its life support systems are ok.”
“Of course!” The Doctor said, already setting the coordinates. “Just get Shadow here and we’ll go!” Gerald went away and came back with Shadow in five minutes, quickly debriefing him on what he was doing, then letting him inside the TARDIS. Shadow stood near the Doctor, looking all around the room. He had only been in the TARDIS for less than half a minute when he sneaked in, so it was still pretty amazing to him.
“That has to be the calmest reaction I’ve seen. Then again, first time something like you has been aboard the TARDIS. Can you identify what emotion this is giving you?” The Doctor asked Shadow as the TARDIS departed the observation deck and traveled to the center of the Ark.
“Confusion, Doctor. I am confused. But I’m also curious. You will explain this to me eventually.”
The Doctor chuckled. “Yeah, you’ll probably be the only non-Time Lord who can understand how this thing works anyway.”
When the TARDIS landed, the Doctor and Shadow exited and examined their surroundings. They were in a big room, with a river of yellow liquid flowing from a tunnel behind the TARDIS. Both sides of the river had sidewalk like things that were parallel coming out of the tunnel, then created a circle about 30ft after the tunnel, then became parallel again (so the water goes from a straight line to a circle to a straight line), which led to an altar which looked like one small circle stone cake on top of a big circle stone cake. The altar had 30 steps that led to a flat top with a circle in the middle with a border that went up about five inches off the floor but the inside was the same level as the rest of the top. Above it was a circular roof supported by pillars that seemed to be connected to machinery that went to the roof.
However, the most important thing was that there was a giant red lizard in the middle of the room where the sidewalks turned the river into a circle.
The creature had four yellow spikes protruding from its bottom lip, and it had machines for eyes (not metaphorical). There was also a metal rod that came out from the upper part of its head and rested above its eyes. It had four tubes that came from the center of its body that went to a giant hunk of metal with a giant red dot on top of it. It had two front legs, but had two tail like back legs that were the same length as its other legs but closely resembled its long tail. Evidently, this was the Biolizard.
“Doctor, did the professor tell you what this thing is?” Shadow asked, weirded out by the appearance of the Biolizard.
“Well, it’s your….old brother, so to speak. The good old professor’s original plan was to take a lizard, experiment with it, and make it the ultimate life form. And he succeeded. It has inhuman durability, the power to regenerate, the ability to reproduce a***ually, manipulate gravity, shoot lasers, and harness the power of the Chaos Emeralds. However, further experimentation ruined the poor guy, and now he requires a life support system and can’t walk because he technically doesn’t have two back legs. The professor quickly dubbed him as the prototype, then went on to make the ultimate life form using Mobian DNA, which eventually led to you.”
Shadow nodded, more or less understanding what the Doctor said. The Biolizard seemed most interested in Shadow, tilting its head in curiosity while looking at him.
“I understand….you must be him. The one who succeeded me.” A voice said inside Shadow’s head.
“What? Who is this?” Shadow accidently said out loud. The Doctor gave him a strange look, seeing as he had just explained who the Biolizard was, but then realized Shadow seemed to be talking to someone.
“It is me, brother. The one called the Biolizard.” The voice replied. “Since we are of the same blood, and we are gifted with the power of Chaos, we can communicate telepathically when we are near each other.”
The Doctor walked over to Shadow and placed a hand on his head. “Hello? Can you hear me?” the Doctor said, tapping into the telepathic communication between the Biolizard and Shadow using Shadow’s mind.
“Yes. You must be the outsider. What is your name, outsider?” The Biolizard asked.
“I’m the Doctor. Shadow and I were sent to check on you. Are your life support systems ok?”
“Yes, everything is fine. As you would expect, there has been no unwanted guests in this room. I thought at first you were an unwanted guest, but my brother was in your company. Shadow, they call him? Interesting they gave him a name. The closest to a name I have is a title, which does not satisfy me. Younger siblings are always more spoiled than their older siblings.”
The Doctor took his hand off of Shadow’s head and looked at the Biolizard, clearly disturbed by something.
“I think we’ll go now.” The Doctor said, already heading towards the TARDIS. Shadow took a step in his direction, but then stopped and looked back at the Biolizard.
“The GUN arrives in a few days. I doubt they’ll make their way down here, but be prepared.”
“Do not worry about me. I am more than prepared. I am designed to be the ultimate life form, and they are petty Overlanders with training. I will be fine."
Shadow started walking towards the TARDIS, and before he entered it, he looked back one final time. The Biolizard rested on the ground, watching him leave.
"Goodbye, brother. I hope to see you again."

It was the day. The day GUN was supposed to arrive. It was 7:00am. The professor was hoping they wouldn’t arrive, but knew they were going to come. The Doctor had told him, and the Doctor was always right.
Shadow stood in the observation deck, looking down at Earth. He had the same hopes as the professor, but he also knew they were coming. He didn’t know what surprises the day had for him, but he knew that at the end, he wanted Maria to be okay. They had become very good friends, and Shadow felt like she was the only one who attempted to connect with him.
The Doctor was in the TARDIS, sitting on a seat next to the main console. It was hard, knowing what was going to happen to the others and not being able to tell them. But what scared him more was that he didn’t know his own fate in this fixed point in time.

At 7:30, the Doctor, Shadow, Maria, and Gerald were standing in the observation when they saw the GUN ship. It looked like an oversized escape pod, but to the Doctor, he knew it meant bad things to the people standing next to him.
After a moment of silence, Gerald decided to speak.
“Doctor, how long do we have? And are we supposed to be anywhere?”
The Doctor looked at Gerald with a sad look. “You’re supposed to be doing paperwork in your office. You have to let them apprehend you.” He looked at Shadow and Maria. “Shadow, Maria, you’re going to meet me Maria’s room after I move the TARDIS. When the professor tells us GUN has arrived, we have to run the escape pod room.”
Shadow had many questions, but understood that he couldn’t ask them. Maria, seeing Shadow was distressed, grabbed his hand. Shadow looked into her eyes and slightly smiled. Maria smiled back. Then, everyone split up, with Gerald, Maria, and Shadow going to where they need to go, and the Doctor went into the TARDIS to move it.
As Shadow and Maria walked to Maria’s room, they were silent. They were both scared of what was about to happen, and weren’t sure if they had the words for it.
“Shadow?” Maria asked, her voice revealing her anxiety. “Why do the bad soldiers not like you?”
Shadow sighed. “I wish I knew. I asked the professor, but he refused to tell me. He said it was for my own good.”
Maria got a little more upset at this. “But why? What did you do? You’re nice! You haven’t hurt anybody! Why do they have to send soldiers just to hurt someone who’s never done anything!?!”
Maria started to cry after she finished her sentence. This made Shadow very uncomfortable. He wasn’t used to people being sad, so the crying confused him. It was awkward for a little, especially since they had stopped moving. Then, without thinking, Shadow grabbed Maria’s waist and pulled her close to him. She put her arm on his shoulder, and they started walking again. She sobbed the whole entire way to her room, where she laid down and cried some more. Shadow sat in a chair, uncomfortable sitting in the room alone while she was crying.
Eventually, the Doctor came into the room and saw Maria crying. He sat down next to Maria, and pulled her close to him so she could cry on his shoulder. As he held Maria, the Doctor made contact with Shadow, still having the sad look in his eyes. Shadow didn’t know how to respond, which made him more uncomfortable.
8:00 am. The Doctor, Shadow, and Maria were still in Maria’s room. Maria had stopped crying, but she still sat next to the Doctor. They waited in silence for the professor to tell them to go, deciding it was best not to speak.
“Doctor, Shadow, Maria.” Gerald said over the PA system. “The GUN pod has docked. You need to run. They’re almost upon me. Good luck, and goodbye.”
Everyone stood up and walked out of the room. They were at a fast walking speed at first, but then they sped up to a run. When Maria started to struggle, Shadow grabbed her hand and continued, insuring she wouldn’t fall behind.
However, the running wasn’t enough. Soon, the trio could hear the soldiers gaining on them. They kept running and running, in hopes they would outrun the soldiers, but it was a lost cause.
“Stop!” A soldier said, stopping and cocking his pistol. “Stop right there!”
The trio stopped and turned around, knowing there was nothing they could do. When they stopped running, Shadow had let go of Maria’s hand. When Maria realized this, Maria turned to Shadow and extended her hand to him.
Then a gun shot went off.
The soldier had shot as soon as he saw Maria’s arm move, thinking she had been reaching for a weapon. And she was supposed to have been shot. However, there was one person who had prevented it.
                              The Doctor.
He was on the ground, writhing in pain. The soldier who shot was in shock, realizing he had overreacted. However, he also figured that if one of them was dead, there wasn’t a reason to not get rid of the other two. He cocked his gun, and shot his gun again.
Instead of killing Maria and Shadow, it was stopped by a shield. A man had teleported in front of the two holding a shield in front of himself, which stopped the bullet. He threw the shield aside, and threw a bomb at the soldier’s feet. This launched the soldier and his friends back, but created a wall of debris, protecting the group of four from the soldiers. The man turned around and analyzed the situation, paying special attention to the Doctor. The man picked him up, put his arm around his shoulder, and starting walking down the hallway, in the direction the other three had been running.
“Come on, the Doctor’s in critical. We have to get him to the TARDIS.”
Shadow and Maria started to walk with the man, confused about what just happened and who the man was.
“Who are you? Do you know the Doctor?” Shadow asked.
“My name is Maxwell. I know the Doctor, but he hasn’t met me yet. I know it sounds weird, but it what happens when you make a friend with a time traveler.”
Shadow noticed that Maxwell’s clothes were a bit strange, not resembling the fashion he had seen on the Ark. He also noticed that Maxwell had five fingers, instead of the normal Overlander standard of four.
“Where are you from? Are you an Overlander?”
Maxwell laughed. “No, I’m not Overlander. I’m a human. Ancestors to the Overlanders. I’m from Termina, which is…well, in a different universe, and a long time ago. We’re talking thousands of years.”
Shadow found this strange, as Maxwell looked young for being a few thousand years old. “You look very young for a thousand years old.”
Maxwell laughed again. “I’m not immortal, silly. The Doctor stumbled upon me when he accidently fell into my universe, and I went in his TARDIS right before it came back to this universe. He hated me for it at first, but now he is glad I came.”
By now, they were inside the TARDIS, which had been moved to a small storage room that happened to be empty. Shadow wanted to ask how Maxwell knew where the TARDIS was, but didn’t ask.
Maxwell put the Doctor on the seat next to the main console, and Shadow saw that the bullet wound was gone when he stepped away.
“He healed himself!” Maria exclaimed, happy.
“Actually, that was just the reset.” Maxwell said. “He’s going to change soon, and we should probably get out.”
Maria was now confused, not understanding what Maxwell said.
“Change? What do you mean?” Maxwell grabbed Maria’s hand and led her out of the TARDIS, and Shadow followed Maria. Maxwell closed the doors of the TARDIS and let go of Maria’s hand.
“Whenever he is close to death, the Doctor goes through a process called regeneration. He basically heals his wounds, then changes his face, voice, and personality to save himself. He has the memories, but it’s like he’s a completely different person. It can be very confusing the first time it happens.”
Right then, there was an explosion in the TARDIS. Shadow went to open the door, but Maxwell stopped him.
“It’s a part of the process. You cannot disturb him.” Shadow resisted for a little, keeping his hand on the door, but then let go.
Inside, the regeneration process had ruined the TARDIS. One of the strange shaped pillars that sat around the edge of the room had fallen on the console, destroying a part of it that hadn’t blown up. The room was on fire, and there was debris from pillars that had lost parts but not fallen over. The Doctor, who now found himself on the ground, used the console and the rail of the walkway that went around it to stand up.
“Alright, let’s see what we have here!” The Doctor said, starting to examine himself.
“Alright, arms, legs, hands, feet, fingers, toes, nose, chin –blimey, the chin-, and…” The Doctor grabbed the back of his head, reaching for his hair, and was shocked.
“I’m a girl!” The Doctor said, misjudging the length of his hair. “No, no!” The Doctor said, grabbing different parts of his hair. “I’m not a girl!” The Doctor quickly grabbed hair near the front of his head and pulled it down in front of his eyes and looked at it. “Still not ginger!”
Now done reacting to his new body, the Doctor walked towards the doors of the TARDIS.
“Can’t stay in here, it needs to repair. But what was I doing?”
The Doctor stepped outside, and saw Maria, Shadow, and Maxwell, with the former two in confusion/amazement.
“Oh, that’s right. On the Ark.”
“There’s the face I know.” Maxwell said, slightly smiling.
“Mister, are you the Doctor?” Maria asked, not having completely grasped the concept of regeneration.
“Yes, I am the Doctor. New face. Regeneration. Fun stuff.” The Doctor said, walking past Maria. He stopped at the door, turned around, and faced Maxwell.
“You, the one who knows me! What do I say when we go somewhere?” The Doctor asked. Maxwell sighed.
                              “Geronimo.”
“Cool. Geronimo!” The Doctor said, going into the hallway. Shadow and Maxwell exchanged glances, and then they left.
“Aren’t you going to ask about how I know you?” Maxwell said as they walked down the hall.
“Of course not, we don’t have the time right now.” The Doctor said, wringing his hands as they fast walked down the hall. “We have to get to the escape pods, but since I just changed history, there might be soldiers in our way. We might have to take a different path. Also, is anyone hungry? I’m hungry.”
“There’s a cafeteria down this hallway, Doctor.” Maria said, trying to help in any way she could.
“Cafeteria? Cafeterias are good. Cafeterias have food. Food is nice.”
“You’re funny, Doctor.” Maria said, giggling.
Soon, they were in the cafeteria. It was a nice big room, enough to accommodate 100 people at a time. At the opposite end of the room was the kitchen. On the left was a fast food place styled counter where people could receive and order food, and on the right was a school type serving line, with a sign at the beginning that said ‘Spaghetti Day’.
The Doctor ran towards the counter and stood in front of it, waiting for someone to serve him.
“Hello? I’m hungry! Do you have yogurt? I’m craving yogurt! Yogurt’s my favorite!”
The Doctor’s three friends exchanged looks and collectively sighed.
“You two get to work and give him what he wants. I’m going to try to find something I know he likes.” Maxwell said when they got behind the counter.
“Something that he likes? Is this Doctor picky?” Shadow asked, looking at Maxwell. Maxwell gave Shadow an ‘Unfortunately, yes’ look, much to the dismay of the hedgehog.
“Alright, here’s your favorite!” Maria said, handing the Doctor yogurt. The Doctor opened the yogurt, then drank it like water, and spit it out to his left.
“Yogurt is just stuff with bits in it, I hate yogurt.” The Doctor said, becoming a little cross.
“You said it was your favorite.” Maria replied, confused.
“New mouth, new rules. It’s like-” The Doctor was interrupted by a two second spasm, in which his stomach made some interesting noises. When it finished, the Doctor put his hand on his forehead.
“Is there something wrong with you, Doctor?” Maria asked.
“No, there isn’t. Is there something wrong with you? Why can’t you get me decent food? Have Shadow make something, he’s the ultimate life form.”
A little later, Shadow came to the counter with plate that had bacon on it, and a fork.
“Bacon!” The Doctor said, clearly happy to see it. “Bacon’s always good.”
Shadow smiled as he watched the Doctor take his first bite, but then frowned when he spit it back into the plate.
“Are you trying to poison me?” The Doctor asked, putting his face close to Shadow’s.
                              “No….?” Shadow said, confused.

Maria came to the Doctor with a plate of beans. The Doctor greedily ate them all really fast, but then went behind the counter and spit them into a sink.
                              “Beans are evil.”
Shadow groaned, frustrated. “What DO you eat, Doctor?!” Shadow asked.
“I know! Fish fingers, and custard!” Maxwell said, bringing a box of fish fingers and a bowl of custard. The Doctor quickly opened the box, took a fish finger, dipped it in the custard, and did not spit it out. In fact, it looked like he quite enjoyed it.
“You are a genius, Maxwell.” The Doctor said, obviously in a state of bliss. Maxwell laughed.
“That’s the only time you’ll ever say that, Doctor.”
The Doctor doubted it, but considering Maxwell was from his future, he was probably right.
“Maxwell, tell me. Do we see…her, again?” The Doctor said, changing his mood to a more serious one. Maxwell didn’t realize who he was talking about at first, but quickly remembered, and grinned.
                              “Spoilers.”
The Doctor seemed a bit cross that Maxwell had replied in that manner, which Maxwell grin even more. Shadow was about to ask who ‘she’ was, but decided against it. Maria didn’t ask either, as she seemed content with the ice cream she had found.
“So, Doctor, what happens next?” Shadow asked. The Doctor gave Shadow a sad look, which angered Shadow a little. “Stop doing that! Just tell me what happens!”
The Doctor didn’t change his expression, and Maxwell also got a sad look, as if he just realized why the Doctor was sad. The two exchanged looks, and Maxwell nodded slowly. The Doctor looked back at Shadow.
“We need to get to the escape pods. I’ll explain when we get there.”

Later, the Doctor and the crew arrived at the escape pods. Like time had determined, there was only one escape pod.
“Shadow, please go in.” The Doctor said, clearly not pleased by any of these at all. Shadow mimicked the same feelings, but differently.
“Why?” Shadow asked. “Why do I have to go in there?” Maxwell shook his head, having a hard time on what they had to do as well.
“I’m sorry, Shadow, but that’s how it is.” Maxwell said. “You must go in there.”
Shadow walked towards the pod, and looked back at Maria. She seemed sad, which in turn, made Shadow sad. Maxwell opened the pod for Shadow, and closed in when he went in. Shadow now stood in the pod, looking at his friends.
“Ok, Maxwell and I are going to stand at the sides of the door. When time takes control, and the things that were supposed to happen earlier happen now, just know that I’m very, very sorry, and I would rewrite time if I could. Maria, stand at the console. The blue button is the one that sends the pod. You may talk with Shadow now before he goes, as you will not see him again.” This triggered a bad reaction from Maria.
“WHAT!?!” Maria asked, tears started to go from her eyes. “I won’t see Shadow again? But he’s…my friend. My best friend. My….only friend.”
The Doctor and Maxwell exchanged looks again, both of them becoming very sad.
“I’m sorry, Maria, but it needs to happen. We can’t change it.” Maxwell said, hoping that Maria would be convinced since it was coming from a fellow human. Maria cried for a little, her tears going down her face and onto the console. When she was done, she stood straight again.
“Shadow…there’s something you need to know before you go, down there to Earth.” Maria said, struggling to keep her composure. “The soldier people who came from Earth are bad people, but there are good people, also. And sometimes, like now, it seems like everyone is a bad person, but it’s not that way. There is good in every person, even the bad guys. So when you land, don’t be angry that they separated us. Be happy that you’ll get to know more people, whether they be Overlander or Mobian. Please protect them, Shadow. It might feel like it’s not worth it sometimes, but it is. Protect them, please.”
Then, as Maria finished her sentence, a gunshot went off. Maria fell onto the console, not hitting the blue button. Maxwell tossed the Doctor a silver stick with a red light on it, then went to take care of the person who shot Maria.
“Goodbye, Shadow.” Maria said, hitting the blue button right before she passed. The Doctor, who was almost in tears, crouched down and aimed the red light from the stick at Shadow’s eyes. It flashed, rewriting his memories of the days since his awakening, and by the time his eyes readjusted, he was already hurtling towards the Earth at a great speed.
Maxwell pinned down the person who shot Maria, and put his hand on the soldier’s face, somehow rendering him unconscious. Maxwell kept his hand there for about 20 seconds, then pulled it off. He let the guard slump to the ground, and turned around to see the Doctor looking at him in amazement.
“What did you just do, and how did you do it?” The Doctor asked, confused. Maxwell grinned, quickly said ‘Spoilers’, and ran down the hallway, the Doctor close behind him. About 10 seconds into the run, Maxwell snapped his fingers, which woke the guard. He didn’t remember what had just happened, as Maxwell had erased his memory of what happened after he shot Maria. He didn’t notice the time difference, and walked up to Maria’s dead body.
“B2…I’ve just taken down a little girl who was assisting in the ultimate life form escape. He has taken Pod 5. Can you track it?”
The Doctor and Maxwell were back in the room with the TARDIS, where they leaned against the TARDIS’ door, next to each other.
“So, the future…bad, ok, good?” The Doctor asked, curious. Maxwell smiled the tiniest bit, and chuckled.
                              “It’s fantastic.” Maxwell replied.
“Ahh, I see.” The Doctor said, getting the joke immediately.
Maxwell interacted with a device on his wrist, which the Doctor thought looked similar to the Vortex Manipulator that one of his old companions had used. Maxwell noticed the Doctor looking at it, and smiled.
“No, it’s not the Vortex Manipulator. It’s the Chaos Manipulator. Does the same thing, but it runs off of Chaos Energy, making it more powerful.”
The Doctor nodded, not approving of it, but understanding what it was. Maxwell looked at the Doctor one last time, gave him one last grin, then disappeared as fast as he appeared.

The Doctor entered the TARDIS, seeing that it was repaired. Everything seemed more bright and colorful in this one. He went up the stairs and looked at the console, grinning.

“New TARDIS, new body, and all of space and time. Where to first?”

Alright, I had so far only read the first small part until The Doctor is introduced, but I have to say I am loving it so far. Your characters seem very real and you represented the Doctor perfectly as his character is. I will keep reading tomorrow, but for now I must say great job!
