rose saw the Gerudo coming closer, she knew Luna wouldn't make it back in time "guys, I love you" she said softly, grabbing a deadly scorpion that roamed the valley "it may not be a painless death, but its better then going back" she made the scorpion sting her, and as soon as the Gerudo reached her... she was gone, however on here face there was nothing but a smile and her last thought before she left the world was I win

Luna didn't look back, she didn't see her sister die, all she knew was she had to get help, she had to find her sister's friends, she had to save rose, she couldn't lose her again.

(mwahahaha, kinda stole an idea from the movie/book holes :P)

Elwood slowly opened his eyes. "Are we here?" he asked. He pushed himself up with his little two arms and crossed his right leg over to the same side as his left so he could get off. The ride had seemed much shorter than he had expected, but he could see now they were nowhere in sight of the others. The rocky cliffs around him made him feel a little uneasy, and he could just hope that the others would be OK. "Are we safe for now, Mid?" he asked the wolf.
James gulped and looked around, sweat beads forming on his forehead. They were still walking and he could feel something or someone approaching them. He thought he heard yells far away, something about someone being found, but he didn't mind that. They needed to get out alive. "Hurry guys."

Gerrard looked around at the stone cliffs that rose around him, he felt very uneasy. He knew they were being followed, probably by gerudo, and he had a suspicion that everyone else did too. In response to the urgent command by James he quickened his pace to match the stride of him, he just wanted to get out of here alive.

Luna found the group and got to them as quickly as she could, panting for breth, the gerudo had gotten rose, but they hadn't followed her. as she stopped in front of them she was panting for brethe "rose.... dead.... gerudo.... got her..... killed self" she said, taking a deep breath between each word. she looked up at her friends with sad eyes, she hadnt yet mourned the death of her sister and knew she couldn't until they were safely out of the desert, but still, she was her sister and she couldn't help but let a few small tears fall down her face.

James kicked in the brakes and slowed than to a halt too fast for his feet's liking. "Woah woah woah, slow down. What are you talking about! Rose is...dead?" he said to her. He tried to remain as calm as possible, but couldn't help but feel his voice break a little at the end of the phrase. He would've been greatly pleased to stay there and figure the whole matter out, but the yells of the Gerudo brought him back to what was happening. "The other girl went this way! Come on!" They sounded much closer now. He shook his head, took a deep breath, and continued. "Well we'll have to deal with that when the rest of us are safe. Let's go guys, maybe we can hide in a cave near those cliffs!" Once again he picked up the pace, this time pulling tired Luna with him.

Luna was barely able to keep up with them, in truth, she would have let the gerudo get her like they got rose but she needed to tell her friends the whole story. when she tried to explain it all just came out in jumbled words, she knew that if she were to get captured her friends would still be asking how, and why, they deserved the truth.

Midnight nodded to Elwood, panting as he shakily stood. He turned to face back the way they had come, watching and listening for the arrival of their companions. He sat and leaned against the boy, trying not to put too much weight on him as he wasn't sure how much the Kokiri could stand. Sephira, after all, could take his full weight if he wanted to relax against her. He wasn't used to anyone else.

Star snarled at Luna as she approached the group, before remembering she was Rose's sister. The cheetah didn't really pay attention to what was being said, too convcerned with the group coming on their heels. She dropped back behind the group, then started using her tail to brush out tracks as she hurried along. Midnight's bushy tail would have worked better, but this would have to do. She snapped at heels in front of her, trying to get everyone to go faster.

Quickening his pace, Gerrard looked for an enclave that they could hide in. Scanning the dull cliff walls, he could not discern anything, it all looked the same to him. Then, in the corner of his vision, he saw a small cave that was nicely concealed. Slowing down, he yelled to the others "Hey, I think I found something here."

Ea had been running with the others, but turned to look at Gerrard when he yelled over to them. She quickly scrambled over, harshly whispering to him as she did so. "What did you find, and by the gods why don't you just walk up to the Gerudo and tell them where we are if you're going to yell like that."

James also slowed down, and couldn't help but smile at Ea's comment. After all, it was true Gerrard's hollering would probably give their position away. Looking behind Gerrard, he spotted a dark spot on the wall of the cliff. A cave, which was exactly what they had been on the lookout for. "Great job, Gerrard. Come on guys, hide, quickly," he urged the others, quietly. He beckoned Star over as well, making sure she didn't run ahead. "Are Midnight and Elwood safe?" he asked her, inconspicuosly.

Star snorted softly. She had gotten sand in her nose from running behind everyone and it was irritating. When they were in the safety of the cave, she reached a paw up and started rubbing at it, periodically stopping to lick it. She looked up as James asked about Midnight and Elwood. She bumped his knee, purring softly. Fine, she said. They're just fine. She settled herself in the cave mouth, grooming the sand from her fur. It was really irritating her skin.

Midnight's ears stood up straight, stiff as boards. He swivelled them, trying to pinpoint where he had heard Gerrard's shout. He nudged Elwood and lay down, trying to hint for him to get back on. He wondered breifly if he should, or if he should wait for the Gerudo to go away. He could scent them, faintly, on the night air. But he really wanted to get back to Star, so she could get the irritating sand from his fur and so he could sleep. He didn't trust Elwood to stay awake, or even be alert enough to protect them from any intruders. Star would, though. She'd sense anyone approaching and give them enough warning to hide. His mind made up, he waited patiently for the Kokiri to climb on his back.

once inside the cave Gerrard allowed himself to rest. As he leaned against the walls he felt the fatigue hit him. Since he couldnt sleep he forced himself to walk around and take count of the remaining people.

Elwood remained ignorant of Midnight for a few minutes, before the wolf's nudges became a constant nuisance in the back of the kid's mind. Time had passed since they'd last seen the others, so the kid had dozed off. He opened his eyes and looked at him. It didn't take him long to understand what the wolf was trying to say, having a natural ability with animals. "It's time already? Alrighty then," he said as he hopped to his feet. He stretched his tunic and moved it in a fan-like motion to cool his body. Luckily for Midnight, he hadn't reached an age were perspiration was an issue, else he would have had to endure the cold humidity of the kid on his fur. He then stretched his short legs, yawned, and took a few deep breaths, before getting on Midnight's back. He tried as best as he could not to hurt him. He grabbed on as before, and rested his head against the wolf's back. He looked to the side, and kept his eyes open as Midnight barked and was off into the darkness of the desert. A little ways away, Elwood thought he could see something. It looked like a passage. That seemed weird to him, since he hadn't seen anything like it so far. A few mountains were surrounding it, and even though his sight didn't go that far, something told him the desert was stopped by them. He decided to keep the thought safe in his mind for later.

James finally took a moment to breathe when they were all safely in the cave. Like Gerrard, he counted up their remaining members. Rose's sister had been awfully quiet lately, and he was afraid any attempt to strike up a conversation with her would lead to an implosion of feelings. He decided to let her be, for now. Gerrard seemed distracted, so he didn't feel like talking with him either, and he couldn't tell what Ea was thinking. He half-smiled at Star and then looked out the cave to get a grip on their situation.
It had been a while since they'd been hiding, regaining their strengths. The Gerudo had moved on, probably spotted another prey. For a moment his mind skidded to Elwood and Midnight, but he waved the thought away. He was sure the boy was being taken care of by the wolf. By the position of the moon, he could tell it'd been a long time since he'd last seen Sephira. The ever-present fear of her being in danger lingered in the back of his mind. He tried not to worry too much, for now his main worry had to be getting the group to safety, or whatever the definition of safety was in this forgotten corners of Hyrule. He decided they'd wait for a few more minutes. He'd lost track of time during their escape, but it couldn't be too long before the Sun began to rise. So, they'd wait. But their water wasn't eternal, and supplies wouldn't last forever. He hoped Elwood to be back soon. He would signal the time to move on with his return, and with a bit of luck, they'd find a way out of the desert before the break of dawn.

Star *****ed her ears as Midnight's soft steps on the sad came into her hearing range. She looked up and out of the cave, waiting for the wolf to show. James noticed the cheetah stir, and immediately moved to his feet. He had slowly slid down the edge of the entrance to the cave until he was in a sitting position, but now all his senses were alert. Then logic kicked in. It couldn't be danger, Star would have reacted differently to that, so it was either Elwood with Midnight, or maybe even Sephira...
As the wolf came into view, he sighed, not in disappointment but in despair at the thought that his girlfriend was still somewhere out there. The wolf slowed to a halt at the entrance, admittedly a bit tired. Elwood slid off and walked over to James. "Hey, you guys OK?" he asked innocently as a sign of hello.
James smiled sadly and nodded, before turning to Midnight. "Thank you, Midnight. I really appreciate it," he stated. He then turned to the sky, his eyes playing tricks on him. He thought he saw a glow in the horizon, but he was sure there was still and hour before sunrise.
"Well, now that Elwood's back," he turned to the others, "I think we should try to get out of the desert. The Gerudo have a much easier time getting around in the Sun than we do, and we don't want to be stuck here with no water, so... Any ideas?"
The penetrating silence lasted but a few seconds before Elwood remembered what he had seen. He wasn't sure it was what James wanted to hear, but he thought he should know. "Um, you know, as we were coming this way, I think I saw a passage through some mountains. Not sure what it was, just, um, thought you should know."
James turned to look at him, interested. "You did?" he said, as he turned to Midnight, "Could you take us back there?" If it was true, then this might be the group's ticket out of Hyrule. James' heart was heavy though. Would they have to leave without Sephira?

Midnight and Star rubbed noses as they listened to James and Elwood talking. She still not back? the wolf asked.
Star shook her head. We'd never be able to find her body. Unless we do, she'll have to burn herself up, and you know that will take a while. Until then, we'll just have to leave a trail for her to follow and press on.
Midnight growled softly and lay down, resting his head on his forepaws. We should go find her. Even if we can't start a fire, we could protect her from scavengers.
And die of heat? Star asked. Thank you, but no. I'll keep going and protect James.
Protect the whole pack, Midnight sighed. He looked up as James turned his voice towards him. Passage? I didn't see a passage, he grumbled. He stood, though, figuring it would have to be back along the path they took.

Ea stood up, quite indignantly, and spoke in much the same manner. "Wait, are you serious? The sun is rising, the Gerudos may very well be searching for us as we speak, and YOU want to go look for a passage in the mountains that a kid 'thinks' he saw? That's a death wish! If the kid's wrong we'll be sitting ducks!"
