  • "HE IS THAT CLUSMY!?!?!? THEN HOW DID HE BEAT ME!?!?!" Katherine screamed.

    ~

Zeb punched Katherine for the 15th time that day. "Quiet! I can't have you making me die of laughter while I'm trying to be serious!" Zeb said, shaking Katherine to make his point.

    ~

Jonah looked at Katherine for about half a minute before returning his gaze to Sephira and Zebulon. "As I just said, Zebulon's father died when 'Zeb' was a baby, and my father died before Zebulon grew interest in swords, not to mention he had no chance of running into my father because of how overprotective Zeb's adopted parents were."

    ~

"Is that the reason you came here? To give me 'proper' training?" Zeb asked.

    ~

"If you beat me, I'd say you know all you need to know. You would also get this sword I hold, since it IS supposed to be in your hands." Jonah said, knowing that would get his cousin going.

    ~

Zeb, just to be different from all the other times he made decisions, decided to think about it first. So if I beat this guy, it means I did receive proper training, and I get a blade that supposedly belongs to me? Hmmm....

    • Sephira almost burst out laughing. "If anyone can train Zeb properly, it won't be you two, that's for dang sure! Esepcially you, girly." She grinned at the girl, then turned back to Jonah. "And you are a little too confident in yourself, I think. Two over-confident people together? I'm going to be well away from there." With that, she turned and moved to the other end of the square, just to empasize her point.

      • Zeb looked back and forth, deciding if he should go after Sephira or face Jonah. He decided to go after Sephira. "Well, I'm done with you guys! Hope to see you never!" Zeb said, dropping Katherine and running after Sephira.

        ~

Jonah sighed and picked up Katherine. Since he knew going after Zeb would not help his cause, Jonah simply left the square.

        • Sephira chuckled as Jonah and his girl left he square, then turned to Zeb. "So who were those two? And why on Din's great earth were they following you?" She doubted he would know, though, judging by his reaction when he first spotted them.

          • "All I know is that they claim to be my cousins, but I'm not sure why they were following me." Zebulon told Sephira. They might help me remember that past, but for now, it would probably be best to stay away from them. Zeb thought as he waited for Sephira to reply to him or move. Either would work.

            • Sephira nodded, nibbling her lip. "Maybe something to do with that sword..." she trailed off, thinking in her head. Then she shrugged and looked around. "You really need to learn to be a cleaner fighter. I'm not sure if there is any trail for me to follow any more," she teased.

                • Sephira laughed. "I do a good job hiding my trail, don't I. And lucky for you, I already learned enough to know she headed that way." She turned, grinning, and headed down the path.

                  • James cursed as he tripped over an overgrown root and fell face-first on the floor. He pushed himself off the grown and dusted off his pants. It had been a while already, and it was beginning to grow dark. Lightning flashed over someplace in the field, and James hoped Elliot was OK. He also hoped that he wasn't worrying for him, since he knew how paranoid Elliot got. After regaining his balance he began making his way through the graves once more. He didn't actually know what he was looking for, so he was hoping that there would be some sort of sign to guide him. That's when he thought of it: If his mom were still here, she could guide him through, or Jacques could too. Thinking of them was enough to make him drop and sit in front of a tomb and close his eyes. His mom...even with Elliot stepping in on the parental figure role, there was no way he would ever be able to fill the emptiness she had left in him. He missed her so dearly. Thinking about her caused him to involuntarily open the door to his deepest and most repressed memories. Before he could stop it, he was thinking about his mother, his mentor, the friends he lost, Fer...It was too much for him. He knew he had promised Elliot never to cry again, but that had been long ago, and so many promises had been broken already he didn't care. He rested his head on his knees as tears began pouring from his eyes. Star sat a bit further away due to the awkwardness of the situation: she hadn't been expecting the boy to randomly break out in tears.
Melody was watching him closely and frowned as he broke down. He had seemed like a strong young man, why was he breaking down now? Having the sympathetic system of a robot like she did, she flew down to him and very directly asked him, "Why do you cry?" James looked up and quickly wiped the tears away, but his the top part of his cheek was already red like it got when he cried. "Well you'll have to be more specific, do you want to know why people cry in general?" he asked just a little surprised to see her there. She rolled her eyes, "I know why people cry, stupid, I meant why are you crying?" James smiled sadly and looked at the floor.
"It's hard to explain." Melody sighed, he was a hard nut to crack. She sat next to him and said, "I have time." He took a deep breath and then opened up to her like he had never done with anyone before. He told her all his sorrows, his pains...everything. When he was done, silent tears were falling from his eyes again; saying it aloud had made it seem so much more real. Melody was quiet for a few minutes, before she shook her head and looked at him. "I must admit, I am shocked. I would've never thought someone your age could possibly endure so much by himself, how someone could even remain sane or happy even. It is incredible how much you deal with everyday."
James sighed before speaking again. "You see, that's the problem. Everyone always thinks I deal with these things, that I somehow manage to on my own. But I don't! I have all of these memories and pains locked up inside of me and they are eating me up. I don't know how much longer I can handle before losing my mind. Before, I at least had someone to help me through this, but he's gone! Everyone's gone! Everyone around me ends up dead or evil, and I don't know if I can keep up this act any longer. How am I supposed to live in peace if I can't even put my spirits to rest?" When he finished he was shaking with a mixture of pain and anger. Melody remained unchanged by his attitude and asked again with the same monotonous tone, "And what about Elliot?"
James had a smile full of pity on his face. "Elliot...I love him, he really has become my father, but..." he sighed. "I couldn't ever tell him about this, I couldn't lay such a burden on him. Believe me I wish I could, but it's already hard enough having to put on an act for everyone else, and if I were to break that for just a second, specially with him..." he shook his head. "He has his heart in the right place, but I don't know if I should be the one filling it," he added, thinking about how he had seen him yell at Rose, and how out of place he had felt by being there, like he didn't belong with them. Melody remained silent for a while, and so did James.
"You shouldn't give up, you know?" she finally said. He looked at her with tired eyes. "You've come so far, and for what you ask? Well let me tell you it is not for Elliot, or for that girl Sephira, or for any of them. It is for you. You haven't given up until now, because you owe it to yourself to keep going. After all that you've been through, giving up would be like betraying everything you've ever fought for. That's why you can't give up, and I'm going to help you." She stood up, and James also looked up with wonder on his eyes.
                    "Why?" he simply asked.
"Because, like you'd be betraying yourself by giving up, I'd be betraying myself if I did not help someone who is worth saving. So, first of all, the house is yours, you've proven yourself enough already. Secondly, you need to know that I'll be watching you, and I'm going to help you, just you wait." With that she smiled and vanished into thin air, leaving James gaping. He didn't know what had just happened, he only knew that the tears had stopped and they showed no sign of returning.

                    • Zebulon continued to follow Sephira. This is starting to bore me. Should I ditch "Sep" and go do something else? Zeb thought as he followed Sephira. After a few moments of thinking Zeb randomly got pushed to the ground. Before he could say anything or look around, something hard hit his head. Was it the hilt of a sword? Was it a rock? Zeb did not know. The only thing he saw next was darkness, for he was unconcious the next second.

                      ~

If Sephira looked back, she would've seen a man who was about five feet and three inches tall with short, black and gray hair dragging Zebulon in the direction of the graveyard. This man's name was Athair Corinthius. Athair wasn't from any land. In fact, he was from a different dimension, and he spoke a different language then everybody else in Hyrule. Athair had recently learned he had to do something with Zebulon, but he didn't know what. Did Athair have to kill Zeb? Did Athair have to train Zeb? Athair did not know. All he knew is that he would have to bring Zeb to the graveyard. So that is exactly what he decided to do. "Ugh, what a load." Athair said in his strange language to himself as he continued to drag Zeb down the path.

                      • After a few minutes of walking, Sephira noticed Zeb wasn't following her any more. She looked back, but couldn't see him. She did see a man carrying something heavy, though. Whatever it was didn't concern her. She turned back to the path, muttering about all the time Zeb had wasted trying to find her. Her trail was going to be just as hard to follow as it was before.
She continued to follow the faint trail of blood and pawprints to the graveyard. She paused at the entrance and looked around. She spotted Star staring into the depths of an open grave. She smiled and whistled to her. The cheetah looked at her, then yowled down into the grave. Then she turned and bounded to Sephira.
The girl grinned and knelt down to hug the cheetah. "How's my sweetie girl? What have you been doing?"
Star purred. "Just fine. James and Tennor had a mock fight. Amaterasu came back and accidently flared up tempers. Rose ran off, Elliot chased after her. James met with someone, and followed her around."
Sephira scratched the cheetah's ear. "Did you see or smell her?" The cheetah shook her head. "Oh well. What exactly did Ammy do?"
"She was sent to bring Rose to the Gerudo, or else be hunted to death. Rose wanted to turn herself in, but Elliot did not want her in danger again. He tried to talk her out of it. Rose did not appreciate it."
Sephira chewed her lip. "That'll explain it. We should probably find them." She stood up. "Is James down there?" Star nodded. "Then perhaps I'll join him." She walked to the edge and called down. "James! Mind if I join you?"

                        • James had been beginning to fall asleep when Star yowled into the grave. He looked up but he couldn't see her. He yawned and rested his head against the wall, not worrying for bugs or other animals that might be on there. Suddenly he heard Sephira's voice asking him for something, but at first he thought he had imagined it. But then curiosity got the best of him, and he looked up. To his surprise, she was there on the edge. It had been so long since he last saw her. He smiled and called, "Make yourself at home." Then looked back down and rubbed his eyes.

                          • Zeb woke up to being uncomfortably dragged. He looked around and found the hand dragging him. Zeb simply slapped the hand and got up. When he got up, he found an annoyed Athair.
Athair tried to speak with Zeb, but all Zeb understood nothing.
"Look, old man. I don't have time for your gam-" Suddenly, Athair started talking again, but this time Zeb could understand him. "Face it, "Zebulon", you're lost. If you lose Sephira, you'll think your life has no worth. You won't be able to think about anything but her. She'll haunt you for the rest of your life." Zeb hated to admit it, but the old man was probably right.
"Before I came here, I was lost too. I was just an old man, waiting to die. But someone told me, if we went to the graveyard, I would have to help you with something, and if we did our jobs correctly, we would be able to see our future for a brief period of time, or we would become the ultimate warriors, o-"
"You don't really know, do you?" Zeb asked, interupting the old man. "No, I do not know yet." the old man said after five minutes of silence.

                              • He smiled, knowing it had been obvious she would ask that. "No reason," he said, "I was just investigating something and ended down here when I decided to get some rest." He unconsciously brushed his cheek where the salt in his tears had irritated the skin a little but made no comment about it. Instead, he asked, "And what brings you here? I'm guessing you came for Star..." He looked deep in her eyes, her beautiful eyes before, with his eyes as though looking at a dream, saying, "It's good to see you...you look good." He smiled sheepishly.
