    Calder stared glumly at his empty plate, barely hearing what his female companions were saying. Personally, he had no interest in this 'science'. Not really any in magic either, since he couldn't use it, nor had the potential to. Well, other than his water healing. He could almost any injury with water, but that was all he could do with water. Couldn't do anything with any other element either. And it was imperfect, too. He couldn't ensure that someone would live even with his ability. Only the goddesses knew if someone would live or die. So really, his magic was purely at the will of the goddesses, and he had no true control. And right now, he just wanted more food. He wasn't hungry, true, he was nearly full, but he wanted to eat, even if the food itself wasn't too good.
    He sighed softly. "Magic, science, what is the point, really? Only the goddesses can say who lives and who dies. Who will win and who will lose. Trying to take it into one's own hands is really a waste of time then, isn't it? Or is it the goddesses that grant us these gifts? The abilities to create and destroy so much with a whim?" He started playing with his fingers, clicking his claws together, rubbing the webbing between his finger.

      Anadia sensed she had offended calder somewhat "sorry if I offended you" she said "but your forgetting, the goddesses gave us free will, we decide what we do with the gifts we are given, my fathers gift was knowledge, my gift is the stones, as they were passed down by my father, Es' gift is her beauty, and your gift is how sophisticated you are. the goddesses do not decide our fate we decide it, we decide what we do with what they give us, we are not mindless zombies who bow to the goddesses will and desires, no, we live our life the way we want it, regardless of if we follow the goddesses will or not, if we didn't have free will why are there criminals, why are there thief's, why are there murderers, why are there disbelievers"

        "Thank you," Esmeralda replied to the comment about her beauty. She was feeling the conversation taking a more serious turn so she decided it might be better to take a break. "I'm going to go and freshen up in the restroom," she announced, standing up, "Wanna come, Anadia?" She hoped it'd be a long enough break for the conversation to cool down. She looked for the restroom with her eyes and was pleased to see that it was right beside the counter. It wouldn't take long. "I'd invite you too, Calder, but it's sort of a girl thing," she giggled.

          Calder shook his head, wishing more than ever that he had food to put in his mouth. He was uncomfortable discussing religious topics, despite being a devote follower of the faith, preferring to keep such opinions to himself. However, since they had moved into that range, he decided to go for it. "You didn't offend me, sweetling, but your argument can also be used to say the goddesses do not exist at all. If we have free will, the ability to choose as we please without any influence, then what are the goddesses? They can't then help you when you ask, as they might influence someone else, if you not you yourself. Likewise, they cannot hinder someone. They cannot bless or curse you, because that would affect someone else. How then, dear one, do you prove the goddesses exist?
          "It is my belief that the great ladies do know where we're going to be, what we're going to do. However, it is like the river. Zora's River has many tributaries, but they all end up at Lake Hylia. The goddesses hope for you to take the most direct route, but it is a strong current and difficult to take. Only those who firmly believe in the goddesses and their chosen path will take that branch. The others will take the longer routes, the more twisted and often more dangerous routes, but they will still end up where the goddesses planned for them to: Lake Hylia. We are allowed to choose our path in life, but ultimately, we will end up where the goddesses planned us to. We might take a different path than they desired. We might suffer more trials, more tribulations, than if we had gone down their selected path. But we will still end up in the same place, and likely do the exact thing they planned for us to do."
          He looked away as Esperanza invited Anadia to join her in the restroom, blushing as he realized he had been preaching. "My apologies. I did not mean to sound like a priest."

          (This is how I feel personally, as a Christian. If you wish to debate the point, feel free to PM me. I will be more than happy to respond, although I warn you, I'm not good at debating. )

            "you didn't sound like a priest" Anadia said "each to their own" she had expected a long speech from him, but not for him to apologize and get embarrassed about it "my one question is, if we all end up on the goddesses chosen path, how come some are evil and others are good, surely the goddesses wouldn't want us to live as bad people, if the goddesses didn't give us free will how are some evil and others are not.... just something to ponder about.... oh and don't get embarrassed about expressing your opinion, I love a spirited debate" finally she turned to Esmeralda "I would love to join you Es" Anadia smiled at the both of them, showing that there were no hard feelings about anything.

              Esmeralda smiled at both of them before heading to the restroom. She wouldn't say anything at the moment, but she agreed with both of them. In fact, he agreed with almost anyone who believed in something. After all, what stopped all the beliefs from coexisting? What affects you is what you believe personally, after all. She flashed her thanks at the man who held the door open for them as they went into their destination. She stopped in front of the mirrors, resting on the sink and looking at her reflection. It didn't seem like her makeup needed to much fixing, so she just pulled out a small bottle from her pouch. As she cleaned the shiny spots from her nose, she spoke to Anadia. "So if this is your first time here, how are you enjoying the village so far?"

                Calder watched the pair of women go into the restroom, thinking on Anadia's question. It was a perplexing one, one he had considered multiple times in the past. He had come up with several possible answers for them, but none that were really satisfactory. He sighed and started to gently chew on his lip and he thought. The goddesses did give us free will, they just have a plan as to what they want us to do with our lives. We can choose how we get to our destination, but they determine what that destination is. They know we'll get there and how, but they don't want to interfere with our free will; they let us choose what we do, even if it breaks their hearts.
                "Ouch!"                 he exclaimed, his thoughts rudely interrupted as he bit too hard on his lip. "Cursed teeth, why did you have to do that?" he grumbled, dabbing gently at his bloody lip with a napkin. "And I was just making progress too. Why did you have to interrupt me like that?"

                  Anadia walked with Esmeralda to the restrooms, grining about the conversation she and Calder just had it's nice to meet an intellgent individual who can debate without having it turn into an argument. Anadia was so lost in her thoughts that she almost didnt notice what she had said. turning to smile at her Anadia said "it's amazing here, I'm loving it.... though what i'm most surpirsed about is the fact that I was able to meet two really nice people, and hopefully made some new friends"

                    Esmeralda grinned back. "Definitely. I'm very surprised too, specially about Calder," she said. She giggled a little and added, "After all, I don't usually like guys. But hey, he's OK. And of course, you're awesome too." She finished touching up and put away her things. Then she turned back to Anadia. "Wanna go back now?"

                      "Sure" Anadia said, hooking her arm through Esmeralda's you know, I really like you and Calder, your both strong people, with strong values, I like that"Anadia stopped and thought for a moment, she wanted to add something but she wasn't sure, she thought it might offend her new friend. taking a deep breath she decided to add it "though I have to admit, you do come across as kind of timid, maybe you should try and break out of your shell a bit, it could be good for you"

                        Esmeralda was surprised. Back at home, the fact that she was not timid had caused her a whole bunch of problems. However, she hadn't realized that she was being timid now. Could that be why she was getting along so well with people? "Huh, I never really thought that. Back where I come from, I was, well, anything but timid. I got into a lot of problems for it," she explained, although she didn't specify, "I guess maybe when I left, I subconsciously built up this timidness to protect myself. I hadn't realized it, but thanks, I think I'll try." She smiled happily at Anadia, not angry at all, and led themselves out of the restroom. She saw Calder was still sitting on the table, apparently talking with himself. She giggled a little quietly before speaking. "Hey, we're back."

                          Calder looked up as the ladies returned. He had ordered some dumplings while waiting and was trying to determine what was in them as he ate. "Hello, ladies," he said, saluting them with one of the breaded *****. "These are good. I think I've figured out how they made them. I can't decide though, if they used basil or oregano." He thoughtfully scrutinized the food with pursed lips.

                            Esmeralda smiled and sat back down. "It's amazing how interested you can be in such small things," she laughed. She wondered if she should order something small as well. Who knew how much longer they would be in this place.

                              Anadia felt her stomach growl as calder talked about food "I need food" she said "ill be right back you guys, I'm totally ganna get a giant platter and stuff me face, you want anything Es?" she offered, she didn't want to be the only one eating and have them wait for her.

                                Esmeralda smiled at the girl's expression. "Yeah, I'd love some!" she exclaimed, and after a few seconds of thought she added, "I think I'll just get whatever you get." She wasn't familiar with the menu since she hadn't paid much attention to it up until now, so it was all she could think of. "Do you need help carrying back the dishes?"
