"Of course I'm interested in the small things," Calder said with some surprise. "Why not? Are you saying that you don't, Esperanza? It's the little things that are important. When an avalanche starts making its destructive path down the mountain, it's usually a pebble that started it. If you had paid attention to that pebble, it wouldn't have to start the avalanche for attention now would it."

Esmeralda smiled. "You know, I do think it's true that the little things, while they matter immensely in the big picture, they also tend to get lost among the many other noticeable details of my life. But I do like to believe that I, personally, spend quite some time trying to find them and, in turn, appreciate them." She helped with the plates and returned to the table quickly.

Calder bobbed his head a few times in a nod as he observed his Goron companion. "Yes, it appears you do. After all, you've spent a good deal of time making yourself look unique from your brethren, haven't you. Found the things that make you different and enhanced them. It looks good on you too." He gave her a smile, showing off his unique feature, his sharp teeth, before finishing his dumplings.

Esmeralda smiled in turn and nodded. "Thanks, and yeah I just feel like we should be able to look however we want, you know? Your teeth are cool as well, and I haven't ever seen any other Zora like that before. I guess we're two of a kind," she giggled giddily.

Calder gave a booming laugh. "A Zora and Goron, two of a kind. What a remarkable thought." His laughter faded, although the grin never left as he continued,"Yes, there are other Zora with teeth, but none as sharply pointed as mine. And in a sea creature like we, sharp teeth are a deadly weapon. It makes them fear me, despite my lax nature." He bobbed his head, then rooted around in his pack and pulled out a pipe. "You don't mind?" he asked. "I enjoy a good pipe after a meal, but there are some who don't appreciate it so much."

Esmeralda smiled and nodded, waving away the question. "Go ahead, I have no problem with it." She looked around the restaurant. There weren't many people, only a couple of them here and there. She hoped it stayed the way. The peace and quiet reminded her of her own imagination, and she enjoyed it.

Calder smiled and bobbed his head in thanks before filling his pipe and lighting it. Of course she wouldn't mind, being a Goron. She grew up with smoke. It wasn't the rich, sweet-smelling smoke that now curled above his head, but smoke was smoke, wasn't it? He leaned back in his chair, puffing away at the pipe delightfully. "Well then, Esperanza, now that our savage beasts have been soothed, what shall we do? I believe I still need to get medicinal herbs, but the sun has seemed to disappeared, sending his sister to light the streets. I do believe the mart is closed now. So shall we seek accommodations for the night, or see what mischief roams the streets of Kakariko?" Personally, he was getting a little tired, but he had never been through the village at night time. Would they have an adventure? He hoped it wouldn't be like the adventure he'd had in Castle Town, the night he'd stayed out. It had involved a horde of ravenous wild creatures who thought he smelled just right as dinner.

"I do believe mischief will be waiting around every corner, should we choose to adventure into the night. Although, I don't think we're quite ready to stand up to a midnight challenge. Perhaps we'll encounter something interesting on our way to find accommodations? That seems like the proper thing to do." Although evidently more energetic still, Esmeralda wasn't in the mood to fight at the moment, unless it was completely necessary. Especially not in the mood to challenge the crows that roamed the skies once the Sun settled down for the day.

Calder nodded and stood, still puffing at his pipe. "Well then, shall we proceed? He led the way outside, cheerfully enjoying his smoke and his female companion's company. "A bit nippy out here, isn't it?" he commented as they stepped outside to a brisk evening. "Sunset's really pretty though. No where near as much as at Zora's Domain, mind you, but every sunset is pretty isn't it." He smiled at the slowly darkening sky. "Sad too, though, when you think about it. The end of a day. Slowly counting down the days until the end of more than a day. The end of a season. Of a life. Of the world as a whole. That's why I prefer sunrise. Birth of a new day." He smiled at Esperanza, who no doubt was finding him depressing. "Excuse my musings. I tend to be a bit more melancholy in the evening."

Esmeralda trotted along in silence at first, listening to his words. They were grave, but also meaningful. She often considered such thoughts herself, but often found herself returning to one that brightened the darkness. "The moon," she said, calmly and almost in a whisper. "With the Sun retreating to slumber, the moon rises to guard the skies. The stars glisten bright and shine down a more mystical light than that of the flaming heart. A sunset may claim and end, but all ends await a new beginning. With the death of a day a night is awoken, and when night to comes to pass, a day will be waiting to take its place." She smiled at Calder. "However short our time may be, we can comfort in what comes afterwards."

Calder blew a small smoke ring, considering his companions words. "So you believe in a life after? A heaven, as it were?" He puffed on the pipe a little longer, then asked, "So what about this world? It won't last forever, so what will come after you? I have often wondered if it will be just an end, like the night is to day, but as you have mentioned, night will turn back to day. So will another world arise from the ashes of this just as civilizations arise from past ones?" He blew another smoke ring as he waited for Esperanza's response.

Esmeralda sighed thoughtfully, looking to the sky. "I'm pretty sure there must be a life after death. I don't know how it would be, but there must be something. And yeah, I really think a new world would rise from the old. Like a phoenix," she smiled at Calder, "the most beautiful bird can only be born after being thoroughly burnt." She kept walking, having lost track of time or of where they were heading. She was doing this a lot when she talked with Calder, getting caught up in her thoughts.

Calder nodded. "I hadn't thought of the phoenix. You are right, only the previous' death allow for it rise. So do generations rise from their elders' end, civilizations from their predecessors' downfall. Why not the next world from this one's destruction?" He paused as they arrived at the inn, nearly passing it, so involved were they in their conversation. "Perhaps we should take this inside and discuss in more comfort?" he asked, gesturing to the building.

Left, right, left, right. Life is simple for Damon, a series of patterns, a series of routines. Although routines can be broken up, it was a way for Damon to keep as sane as he could be. To distract himself from from appearing as different as he actually is. Left, his last box for moving in was in his hand, a collection of daggers that he received from Avalon right. Emotions were very hard to feel, they were mostly nonexistent, for Damon; but the loss of Avalon was different. Avalon had raised him as his own son, gave him a set of rules to abide by. Avalon was like Damon, unlike anyone else Avalon could connect with him. Left, Connect with his frustration that he couldn’t feel anything, connect with how much feeling that causing other misery actually gave him.
But Damon was not a killer, at least not on purpose, he didn’t want to stoop that low. Right, he did have morals, after all, although they did not meet most peoples standards.
Suddenly, he stopped, he spotted an odd two person grouping of a Zora and a Goron apparently talking with each other. Making “friends” among his local populace was important, it helped him stay off the radar when anything fishy he does was found out. And it looks like he will be meeting someone new today. Damon stopped his routine, stood still, and took a deep breath. Trying to imitate happiness was the hardest for him to do, it didn’t come to him as sadness did. He modified his step, making it more cheery, and approached the couple with a grin on his face.
Hello! Damon cheerily said, I just moved here, decided I might as well stop by and talk with some potential new neighbors! Would you mind if I inquired your names?

Esmeralda had been about to answer, when another fella walked up to the pair. Something about the newcomer struck her as odd, but she chose not to voice her thoughts on the matter. "Well, we don't really live here," she began cautiously. "As for names, I don't mind your asking, but is it not customary for the inquirer to make himself an example on the question and explain his own name before inquiring?" Nothing was overly strange about the man, which made her question her own instincts on why she felt odd in his proximity. Perhaps it was simply a matter of him having approached them so suddenly in the late evening.
