Avalona nodded, kicking dirt over the fire to put it out. "Ok. I'll lead the way." She took a deep breath, wrapping her cloak about herself, then headed out into the rain.

Rose didn't know why but she clung closely to Elliot, she was scared and had no idea what was going on but she felt like she could trust Elliot do I always listen to my gut she wondered.sigpicI want to say a big thank you to zeke for making me the picture for my birthday.

The rain was relentless in its attack as they raced in the direction to the house. Elliot's focus was split between trying to keep Rose shielded from the rain and not slipping in all the mud that was forming. His spirits rose when he spotted the house just up ahead. Foregoing all practice of manners, he barged through the doors with muddy boots and called for help.Comment

Avalona followed close behind him, not sure when he had passed her by. She closed the door behind them and went to build up the fire in the fireplace.
Lyla hurried in, hearing Elliot calling out. "What happened?" She went over and helped him lower her down onto a couch.Comment

"I'm not sure..." Elliot said, kneeling down next to the couch and eyeing Rose with concern. "We just found her lying on the ground outside, and when she woke up, she said she couldn't remember anything." He looked up at Lyla with pleading eyes. "Is there any way you can help? Some drink or medicine or something?"Comment

Lyla frowned slightly and nodded. "I'll see what I can do." She went and got several blankets and some dry clothes for each of them. She handed a set of clothes to Elliot. "They're my eldest's hand-me-downs, but they should fit you well enough, and they're dry. There's a spare room down the hall you can change in." She handed an outfit to Avalona, then went to Rose to help her change into dry clothes as well.Comment

Elliot was about to protest that he wanted to stay by Rose's side when Lyla started to change her into dryer clothes. He left them to their privacy and walked down the hall into the room she had mentioned. There was a bed in the corner and a table right next to it--a nice, simple room. Over the table hung a small mirror and he noticed just how exhausted he really looked. Not to mention he could really use a bath right now. The mud that had splattered all over him was starting to dry and make him look messy. He carefully peeled off his clothes, not wanting to make a mess anywhere, and placed the clothes on top of the table. Then he quickly started to get into the dryer clothes.Comment

Lyla carefully peeled the wet clothes off of Rose and dressed her in warm, dry clothing, then bundled her up in blankets. She put a kettle of water on for tea.
Avalona quickly changed, then went to get the special herbal tea mix Lyla used to help with fevers.Comment

Elliot had finished changing clothes and was about to exit the room when he stopped and just rested his head against the door, closing his eyes. His head was aching and despite having changed into dryer clothes, he still felt cold and wet. Perhaps it was just his mind playing tricks on him. Suddenly he heard Rose call out for him and he immediately snapped straight up and ran down the hall to where she was. He knelt down next to her and took her hands from the blankets--thank goodness she was at least feeling warmer. "I'm here," he said with a smile. "You don't have to worry about anything, okay?"Comment

Lyla smiled, watching the two of them. She stood and went over to make a cup of the medicinal tea for Rose, then brought it over to them and handed it to Elliot. "Could you help her to drink this? It will help with the fever. Be careful, it's very hot."
Avalona sighed softly, watching them. She was happy for them, but at the same time, she envied Rose. To have someone love her so deeply, especially someone as sweet and kind as Elliot.....Comment

Elliot quietly looked down for a moment, unsure of how to respond to Rose's question. When his brain couldn't think of anything, he decided to answer with his heart. "I am the one who will love you forever. Come wind and rain, I'll be there to endeavor through all the trials we face, with gentle words, a soft kiss, and a tender embrace, for your love has filled me with much more than purpose in life, I've had joy, I've had laughter, and while yes there has been some strife quite recently, I'd be lying to say I've stopped loving you de--" He gasped and took a moment to breathe, coughing a bit. Then he swallowed and finished what he was going to say before he was rudely interrupted with the need for oxygen.
