  • Avalona lay curled up on the floor in the corner, sleeping fitfully.
She stood in the pasture, her bow held tightly in her trembling hands. Everywhere she looked the ground was littered with bodies, blood soaking into the soil and staining it red. As she watched, the bodies of the dead slowly rose and began to head towards her from all sides. She could hear thier pain-filled voices calling out to her. "You... you killed us.... you're just like your aunt..... worse than her...... you murdered us...." Suddenly they were pressing against her, grabbing her with thier stone-cold hands, dragging her to the ground. A body with one of her arrows through it's throat wrapped it's hands tight around her throat, choking her, squeezing tighter and tighter, all the while chanting murderer, murderer, murderer.....

Avalona screamed shrilly, jerking awake. She could still feel thier hands clinging to her, could still smell the blood.

    • Elliot was taken aback by the apology but he nodded his head. He wasn’t going to be the kind of person that held unnecessary grudges, especially if the other person seemed sincere enough in his apology. As long as Joshua understood his place now. Perhaps if the man continued to act this way, they could actually get to be friends. Or at the very least, civil acquaintances. He figured he may as well tell him what’d happened to Rose as well, since he saw no harm in doing so. Maybe he’d even know what to do. “Her memories just up and vanished,” he responded, folding his arms. “I don’t know, she was lying on the ground in the middle of the forest, unconscious. I’ve been trying to get her memory back bit by bit. Hopefully reacquainting her with Sephira might help. You…wouldn’t happen to have any experience with memory loss, would you?” he asked in a slightly hopeful tone. Before he could add anything more, he heard loud screams, one following right after another. His hand immediately shot to the hilt of his sword. "What the heck was that?" he said to Joshua in alarm.

      • Joshua sighed with relief as Elliot seemed to forgive him. He rubbed his chin as he considered Rose's situation. "No, I don't know anything about memory loss. I might have forgotten it, though," he joked. Immediatly afterwards, screaming started. "All right, all right, so it was a bad joke. No need to boo so loud." He glared down the hall where it was coming from.
The wolf howls his mournful song,
My heart beats as I listen to him.
It rises and falls as he speaks to the moon,
A chilling howl that fills me with joy.

        • Rin ignored the screams, as they were out of irrational fear, the men deserved it. the night honed it's cold edge, forcing him to draw his hood. He continued his thoughts, If I ever confront those... creatures, as he no longer had respect for them, I can't afford to die. If we do,we die, and our legacy would be shatered. If we succeed, we would lose the one thing binding me to Kainis. would that drive away the first person I met out if isolation?
the rest of night continued that way, pondering his life.

          • Kainis sat in his bed. He didn't feel like going to sleep. His thoughts swirled in his head like a cauldron.

What do these bandits want with us? What is it about us that prompted their behavior? Is it something with my family, or are they just bloodthirsty freaks? Whatever... I'll slay them all if my brother is really dead.

He tried to go back to sleep, but again, his efforts were for no effect.
So I'm back, or at least I will be eventually. Trying to reintegrate myself.

            • Avalona rocked back and forth in the corner, hugging her legs to her chest, her chin resting on her knees. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry....." She kept repeating that small phrase over and over again, crying.

              • Elliot rolled his eyes at Joshua’s lame attempt at a joke, then walked down the hall where he heard one of the screams coming from. He knocked on the door and called out, “Everything okay in there?”

Midnight awoke to the sound of sobbing, his ears perking up and flexing towards the sound. He spotted the girl from before huddled in a corner, rocking herself. Curious, he trotted over to her and sniffed her at the ear for a bit before giving her a lick on the chin and sitting back on his haunches.

                • Avalona looked up at Midnight, her eyes bloodshot from crying. "I.... I'm scared, Midnight..... I'm scared of myself........ I..... I killed people, Midnight...." She hugged Midnight, sobbing. "I keep seeing them, the bodies..... Every time I close my eyes, they're there...."

                  • Joshua was about to follow Elliot down the hall to find the source of the shouting, when he heard sobs. He turned and followed the sound. He found Avalona huddled in a corner, Sephira's wolf sitting next to her. She was hugging him, and he could see that the wolf didn't like it too much, but stood still to keep from upsetting her. Joshua moved and sat down next to Avalona. He started to rub her back. "What's the matter?" he asked soothingly.

I had to do it, I had to shoot them, or they would have come here and hurt everyone..... but still, I killed them......." Avalona whimpered.

                      • Kainis heard a knock at the door. He turned, puzzled. Someone asked if everything was OK. He didn't want to answer it. Not only was he an emotional wreck at the moment, but he was also a mess physically. Sweat covered his brow, and his hair was a mess. He shrugged. He'd looked worse. He opened the door. "It's OK, yeah. Could be a hell of a lot better, but OK." He waited for the person to respond.

                        • Joshua rubbed Avalona's shoulders. "It's alright. You did what you had to do. Now we can be safe. You did good." He tried to think of something else to say, knowing this wasn't good enough. But he wasn't too good at the whole comfort thing, so he just said the next thing that came to mind. "It takes a lot of courage to be able to face an enemy without running. It takes a lot more to kill him. That makes you one of the bravest people I know. Possibly the bravest."

                            • Joshua smiled at her. "I don't think so. I know so. Had I been in your shoes, I would have frozen up, and gotten killed because of it. If the wolf here was, chances were he'd run away because he knew it was a one-sided fight." The black wolf growled faintly at the suggestion he'd would run, but Joshua ignored it.
