  • "Anything for a friend," Sephira told her, smiling. She glanced up as she heard James' footsteps and Star's claws on the stone ground. She smiled. "I'm glad to see you back, James. Everything alright?"
Star moved to her side and she knelt down. He was just wanted some privacy, the cheetah told her.
Sephira nodded, glad that Star was sensitive enough not to tell her what exactly he needed privacy for. She moved to hug her boyfriend. Now that he was back, she felt reasonably safe leaving to get her own privacy. However, as seemed to be her curse, someone needed to talk to her, and that someone was Gerrard.
Mentally, she cursed, as she was really needed to get away and do something to calm her nerves down before she really exploded. Then she turned to Gerrard. "That might work," she told him, making it clear to him that she was annoyed. "However, I doubt the Gerudo will believe you were able to capture three women, a man, a child, a wolf, and a cheetah single-handedly. And you can't really say any of us are on your side, because they'll recognize us from having rescued Rose. Elwood's too young, and I doubt Ea will be willing to help." She had forgotten, of course, that she had been a phoenix the first time they rescued the Gerudo, and hadn't been there the second.

    • James hugged Sephira and then answered. "Yeah, everything is fine. It finally is," he said, lowering the volume of the last thing so that only Sephira could hear. He looked around to see they were all still there. Sephira and Gerrard, Rose a bit further away, Ea as well, the guy that had saved Rose nearby, and Star, Midnight, and Elwood. Coincidentally as he thought of Elwood, the boy spoke up.
"So did you get it then?" he asked. James looked at him confused. He thought about the question for a moment before answering.
      "I'm sorry what?" Elwood sighed.
"The string! You said you were going to see if you bought some string for my slingshot, remember?" The Kokiri was clearly disappointed in James' lack of focus.
"Oh um, yeah sorry I couldn't find anywhere that they were selling some. Sorry." Elwood waved his hand, dismissing the matter. James returned his eyesight to his girlfriend, noticing the obvious exasperation in her answer to Gerrard.

      • (totally worthless post)
Gerrard knew that Sephira was angry at him so he just backed off, every time he spoke it seemed it ended up going bad for him. As it was he just let his mind roam over various subjects and, and he looked over and saw James and Elwood talking. The little kid was always eager and seemed so disappointed, it reminded him of the small children in his old village. As soon as he thought of that he made himself stop thinking of it, because every time he thought of the old days all these sad memories came to his mind and he didn't need those now.

        • Sephira smiled at James. She touched her pendant, still around his neck, then whispered, "I'm going out. Please keep those two from tearing each other's eyes out while I'm gone." She glanced over at Midnight, who was waiting for Elwood to return to their play. "Try not to wear him out too much," she told him. "We still need him to be able to cross the desert, and if he's too tired to do it on his own, I'll tie him to your back and you can do it for him." The wolf snorted, but lay down, his head on his paws, and watched the boy. "Be back in a bit. Go on ahead if I'm not back before nightfall." Star accompanied Sephira as she left the cave.
She paused a moment to allow her eyes to adjust, then ran. Her feet pounded on the hard ground beneath the grass, raising small clouds of dust. Star kept up with her with ease as she just ran, enjoying the freedom of being alone. Of being able to lose her mask and allow her emotions to show without any worry of anyone's reaction.
Her happiness to be with James.
          Her hurt of Elliot's death.
          Her annoyance with Gerrard.
          Her protectiveness of Elwood.
          Her sadness at leaving Hyrule.
Her worry over being the last of her tribe.
Eventaully, she stopped running and fell to her knees, crying. It had been a long time since she had struggled with so many conflicting emotions at once. The last time...
Star rubbed her mistress, not saying anything, just offering her comfort as Sephira wept. The girl eventually had no more tears to cry, but she didn't feel much better. "So much sits on my shoulders," she murmered to the cheetah. "So many people depend on me. Oh, great Nayru, am I worthy of all this trust? Powerful Din, am I strong enough for these hardships?"
Star nudged Sephira's shoudler. More than any other who lives, she told her confidently. You survived Strattus. You survived-
"Please don't say his name," Sephira said. But she felt a little better at the cheetah's words. She hugged Star, then straightened. She still felt as if she would explode from her many emotions, so she didn't want to go back yet.
So she turned to her usual method of comfort. She pulled out her Ocarina and played. She played songs she had made herself, songs she had learned from the Stari, ancient songs she had learned in the various towns. Sometimes she would take the unusually shaped flute from her mouth and sing, using the ancient Hylian lyrics to pour her emotions out.
She didn't leave the spot until the sun had set. Even then, she didn't want to move, but Star reminded her how much James would worry. So the Stari stood and started to head back to her group, her heart lighter than it had been, but still heavier than she would have liked.

          • James waved goodbye to Sephira and watched her head out. He wondered how much was going through her head right now. He turned to the others. Suddenly he realized how odd it was that they were all traveling together when it was clear some people hated each other. He watched as Elwood sat down next to Midnight and began scratching behind the wolf's ears. As he walked over to Axle(sp) and sat down next to him, he kept an eye on the other two girls and Gerrard. For now, they wouldn't kill each other.
            *later*
Time passed and still Sephira was not back. James sighed. He had been hoping they wouldn't have to start their travel through the desert without her. He looked up at horizon and watched as the last rays of sunlight vanished behind it. He took a deep breath, looked around and decided it was time. He grabbed his pack and put it over his shoulder. "Come on guys, we should get going if we want to take advantage of the cover of darkness. It will soon cool down a lot in the desert, so if you have cloaks or something to keep yourself warm with, I recommend you put it on now," he told the others. He did so himself, putting on his black jacket. He had discovered a while ago that the color of his outfit made him almost invisible at night, when seen from afar. That reminded him about the cloak Sephira had meant for Rose to put on. He mentioned it quickly to Rose and then turned to the place where they would be starting their journey. Elwood and Midnight hurried behind him as he began walking, Elwood not wanting to be left behind.
            "Alright guys, here we go."

            • Gerrard nodded and then proceeded to gather his things. He put on an old green cloak, although it looked more gray now than green because of the wear on it. He made sure none of his stuff was missing and proceeded to follow James into the desert, suddenly deep inside of him he felt the feeling of adventure; the feeling he had always loved.

              • rose placed on the cloak spehira had given her, but she didn't feel right about leaving without at least telling sephira they were going. instead of following after James she walked in the direction sephira had gone. she didn't go far until she found her, she noticed that spehira had been crying, it was written all over her face. rose ran up to sephira and hugged her tightly "you shouldn't bottle things up" she said softly "it can do more damage then letting it all out, emotions don't make you weak they make you strong. only the strongest of us can cry in front of others. remember, we're your friends, if you need us we will help you"

                • Sephira was surprised to see Rose running towards her, the Gerudo's cloak flapping behind her. Sephira was even more surprised when she flung her arms around the Stari and whispered comfort to her. Sephira had to drag her feet in the ground to stop, as well as to keep from falling over. She hugged the Gerudo back, smiling. "I know Rose," she whispered back. "It's just hard to. I've developed the habit of wearing a mask." She stepped back from Rose as soon as she could, knowing her skin was still pretty warm from her emotional release. She glanced back the way Rose had come from. "Did James and the others keep going?" Nayrue shield him if he disobeyed me, she added to herself, although without any real threat behind the words.

                  • rose nodded "he did, he told everyone to get going" she said "the others followed, I decided to come let you know first.... though I'll admit part of the reason was to avoid the desert for as long as possible" she blushed "also, there are times you need to wear a mask, but when your around friends you shouldn't have to..... believe it or not I wear a mask to, but mines a mask of happiness.... most people can see the sadness in my eyes because of it"

                    • Ea sighed. She had nothing better to do. She figured she may as well go where the wind took her. She needed to redeem herself with this lot. She hated being hated. She put her bow, which she had been taking a closer look at, onto her back and followed those who had already left.

                      • Sephira patted Rose's shoulder. "I know. But before meeting you lot a few weeks back, I had been on my own but for Midnight and Star for two years. And before then, I had been fighting for my life. I know I can trust you all, but many of my habits stand firm." She gave the Gerudo a squeeze. "Come on. James'll be getting worried." She started leading the way towards the desert, keeping a hand on Rose for comfort.

                        • rose smiled, as she walked with sephira towards the desert. however she was filled with worry. rose would come so close to the gerudo, and of any of them but one saw her she would be in trouble, espically if ganondorf was the one who saw her. she took a deep breath and walked into the desert.
