Elwood ran. As soon as he'd gotten the chance he'd turned his back to the crying kid and ran away. He had stormed through the fields, for some reason not getting tired, not even a little. He didn't know where he was, he didn't know where he was going, he just wanted to go home. Little did he know he had headed in the direction of Lake Hylia, not to the Lost Woods. He wished his fairy was with him.
    Elwood ran.
Finally he got to a slope in the terrain and after a few more seconds of running, the reflection of the Sun on crystalline water hit his eyes. Elwood had never seen so much water in his life, not in one place. As he ran he passed a sign and managed to catch a word: Hylia. He didn't know what it meant, and he was scared that there might be big bad monsters in the water. Until a day ago, he hadn't believed in monsters. If only had he known... After some more running, he came to a stop next to the lake. He sat down to rest, even though he didn't feel tired. Laying his head against his pulled-up knees, he began shaking with silent sobs. He had no idea what had happened. He didn't understand how he had been able to do what he'd done, how he'd managed to kill an innocent man in less than twenty-four hours after leaving the forest. He didn't know who the bad man that had "underestimated him" was, and for some reason he didn't want to find out. He just wanted to go home.
Again, he wished for his fairy to be with him.

His mind began going over the events of the day, but he couldn't handle going past the point when he'd been possessed. Why had that happened? Had that really been him? Could he have done more to stop it? What was happening to him! Who am I?.. This were all thoughts that passed through Elwood's head. Looking up, he grabbed a small rock from next to him and threw it with all his strength at the surface of the lake. He couldn't stand something so beautiful and perfect laying untouched next to him while he suffered.
Like Elwood's innocence after killing Elliot, the smooth surface of the lake shattered as the rock hit it.

From a distance, the ghost of Melody watched.

    *from Hyrule Field*

Midnight paused yet again to double-check the trail. Sephira sighed with annoyance, but she knew that following the wolf's nose was faster than following the tracks. Midnight would find the freshest scent and lead her down it, but tracks could swerve, or go over rocks, or otherwise be obscured to her. She glanced around the lake, a little surprised that they had come so close to it without her noticing before.
Suddenly, Midnight raised his head and pricked his ears. He growled low in his throat and started to creep forward. Sephira drew her bow and knocked an arrow before following him. As soon as she spotted the boy, she drew the arrow back and whistled for Midnight to him, then raised her voice so the boy could hear her. "Hey, you! I have been instructed to bring you to face justice for the murder of Elliot Kastaga. Will you come quietly, or do I have to drag you by the ear"

Justice, what? thought Elwood. He heard the woman but didn't say anything or move. It wasn't me. And even if it was, how could they have found me this quickly? He closed his eyes and wished the girl away, not that it was going to do much good. I didn't kill him....I didn't...
Melody saw Sephira get close. At first she thought maybe the girl was going to kill Elwood, and she would have intervened if that was the case. But, when she saw Sephira give Elwood a choice, she decided to just watch from afar.

Midnight glanced up at Sephira, wondering what she wanted to do since the boy gave no answer to her. She herself wasn't sure. Normally the culprit would either run, which was the most often, or come along. Not stand there. He must be deaf, she finally guessed, since he seemed to lack any reaction to her. "Hey, can you even hear me, or are you just going to stand there?" Midnight bumped her, trying to warn her that the steely tone she was using would make him run. "It won't matter, Midnight. If he runs, we will chase. If he doesn't, all the easier for us," she muttered to him, her lips barely seeming to move.

Elwood slowly turned to face her, deciding it would be best to confront the issue at hand. She didn't seem very nice to him, and she looked very bossy. Probably why she is so bitter he thought. He was surprised to see a wild animal with her. He didn't recognize the race; it seemed like a mixture between a dog and a wolfos. It scared him, but he knew animals and this one didn't look like it would hurt him.
"You don't need to be so mean," Elwood spoke back, looking down at his knees as his spoke. "You're not a guardian of the Deku Tree, you can't judge me..." he muttered, loud enough for her to hear. If he was to be trialed for his crimes, he would follow the laws of his people. Do we even have laws for murder...?

Sephira rolled her eyes, but she let the bowstring relax. "If I seem mean, I apologize. But a good friend of mine was killed today, and you seem to be his killer." Midnight bumped her leg. Sephira took a deep breathe and let it out slowly. "I know, I shouldn't let my temper run away from me so easily," she muttered to the wolf. Louder, she said, "I might not be a guardian of the Great Deku Tree, but I know enough of your ways to be certain that murder is not a common occurance among your kind. The Kokiri are closer to nature than my own people, and much less violent. Perhaps I am generalizing, for I see a Kokiri as my friend's killer." Midnight bumped her again. "Will you stop that?"

Elwood didn't find her apology very convincing, but he let it go. He seemed surprised when she referred to "our people" as though expressing that she wasn't Hylian, but he shrugged it off for now. He didn't know who the girl was but he felt insulted when she tried to say that he was different from the other Kokiri, that he had done something wrong. "I am not a killer," he said very stiffly, surprising even himself in how sure he sounded. "I may or may not have killed your friend, but I am not a killer." He said this as he stood up and glared at her straight in the eye. It took control not to reach for the Kokiri sword he had attached to his belt. Why is this happening? Before I would've cried and pleaded with her but now...I'm actually thinking of fighting her if I have to? What is wrong with me?

Sephira rolled her eyes. "So why do I see your tracks leaving his body, and no others? Why did Midnight only scent yours and his? Are you saying that a ghost killed Elliot?" she added with a chuckle. Midnight stifled a whine of exasperation. Sephira did put up her bow and arrow, though, feeling that there was no threat from the boy. If it turned out he was a threat, she was confident Midnight would be able to stop him long enough for her to draw her sword. She moved her pack from her shoulder to her arm, and started to rifle through it for her length of rope, careful to keep an eye on the Kokiri.

Elwood continued to glare. He was starting to like the animal more than the girl. "Maybe because I was there? I didn't say I didn't kill him, I said I wasn't a killer. And yeah, I may be the cause of your friend's death, but it wasn't my fault," he answered coldly. All the sobs and sadness were gone, and now he was just angry. Angry at the girl for calling him a killer. Angry at the world for doing this to him. And angry at his fairy for being MIA. "That rope better not be for me. I'll come with you, maybe, but if you try to tie me I won't go peacefully. And believe me, I can run, and I don't get tired..." He had begun to consider that option since the fight and running away. He stil didn't feel tired. He didn't know what it was, or why, and he wasn't sure if he'd always had the power or not since back in the forest he'd never come across something that made him tired. He just hoped it would still worked, if there came the time in which he had to run from the girl and the animal.

Sephira sighed wearily. Not the killer, and yet killed him? How in Nayrue's wisdom did that work out? "So tell me what happened," she said, trying hard to keep from snapping. "How can you have killed him, and yet not be a killer?" She coiled the rope up and pulled it onto her shoulder. "The rope is in case you do run. You might not get tired, but wolves can run for quite a while too, while on the hunt. And what's more, they can fast for days if neccessary. I doubt you can say the same." Midnight shook his coat and sat down. He worried Sephira was letting her emotions cloud her judgement, but it wouldn't be the first time. She tended to be a little vicious when something happened to those close to her. He would support her the whole way though. After all, Elliot had been a close friend of his too.

Elwood sighed as well; the girl was very stubborn. He began walking towards her, not very fast, not very slow. "It is in my own choice whether I speak or not, and your manner isn't really encouraging me to do so. He came to a stop in front of her, eyeing the rope wearily. He had spoken the truth when he had said he didn't get tired, but that didn't mean he had super strength to break free too. He crouched down in front of Midnight. "A wolf, huh? Well aren't you the most interesting and cool being I've met? I'd say yes. Wolf, hm..." he smiled warmly at him, the first smile he had had all day. Then he looked back up at the girl and decided to try and get to know each other, after all she was trying to kill him and he had no idea who she was.
                      "I'm Elwood of the Kokiri."

Sephira rolled her eyes, muttering under her breath. If he didn't think himself guilty, he should explain why. Otherwise, she was going to deliever him to his death. But if he wanted to die, so be it. Midnight thumped his tail against the ground at the boy's compliment. Even though he was a wild animal, he was tame enough to like human compliments. Sephira treated him as an equal, meaning she didn't compliment him unneccessarily. She didn't believe in flattery.
Sephira rolled her eyes at Midnight. "I hope you don't become too close to him. Remember, Rose wants to kill him." She was careful to speak wolf so that the Kokiri couldn't understand. She didn't want him to try to run. She was surprised when he introduced himself, but she didn't hesitate to give her own name. "Sephira of the Stari." Habit also made her place her fist over her heart and bowed her head slightly.

                          (Entering from Hyrule Field)
"Hey!" Vastol shouted from the other side of the lake. " 'Scuse me for interrupting, but do either of you have directions to that place where there's a waterfall, and a whole bunch of Zora's are up it, and they have this whole chamber thing? I may be a little lost, and the water doesn't seem to be moving!"
Next to him, Annika simply stood, staring at the water.

"The Stari," repeated Elwood quietly. He was sure he had heard of them before, he didn't know when or where however. He sighed as he stood up straight and thought of what to say to her. He'd go with her but he wouldn't die for what he'd done? He didn't have time to respond when another guy called out to them from the other side of the lake. His mouth gaped a little as he didn't have any idea where the man was talking about. He waited to see if Sephira would answer.

Sephira sighed at the interuption. She turned and cupped a hand around her mouth. "Go across Hyrule Field to the eastern most fork of the river. Follow along it and you'll find Zora's Domain behind the waterfall." She grumbled under her breath a little. She knew that she shouldn't expect every one to have the same knowlege of the land she did, since she had explored it only within the last couple years, but it could annoy her when people asked about something that it sounded like they should know the way to very easily, and yet not.
