Malina slapped the back of his head. "Of course we're courting. You asked my father, didn't you?" She closed the heavy spell book, her finger inside to mark her place. "Come on, I'm starving, and I can easily read this while we eat." She started to head to the door, yet again.Phillipians 4:13 - I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

"But what I'm saying is that you consent to it? After all, it wouldn't be fair if you didn't like me and you're feeling forced into this. If that's the case, then I will not treat you like a partner," Kairu doing his best to give Malina her freedoms. "After all, I'm a guest of Labrynna, am I not?" He was now following Malina to the cafeteria.sigpic

Malina sighed. "To be honest, I have no clue what I feel. I used to have a lover, but we never were serious, and he vanished a while back. I've never really thought about taking a true lover, or even being courted by anyone. I think I would prefer it if you and I became friends first, before we really go further than that." She paused as she spotted a new servent in the hall. As a true loving monarch, Malina spent time getting to know everyone in the palace, and several of the people in the town, though the army always seemed to elude her. When she saw a face she didn't recognize, she stopped to find out who it belonged to. So she walked up to the girl, a bright smile on her face. "Hello there. I don't think I've seen you around here before. I'm Malina." She bobbed a courtsy, even though she was the higher rank.Phillipians 4:13 - I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Denyde bit her lip, nervous. "H-hello.... I'm D-denyde....." She blushed, embarrassed. She really hated her name... "I-I'm sorry I h-haven't finished cl-cleaning yet.... I g-got l-lost....." She curtseyed deeply, nearly dropping her broom. "P-please for-forgive me....." She looked down at the floor, hoping she wouldn't get in trouble. Kairu mumbled at Malina's desire to not court, "As you wish, Princess...," still mumbling, but perking up to look a little less solemn and downtrodden. He stood there not willing to talk unless spoken to. He still felt like he was a guest in the palace, which he was, so he was not meant to speak unless addressed.sigpic

Malina sighed. "I thought I said no princess. I get enough of that from everyone else, except Daddy." She hooked an arm through Kairu's. "Besides, friends don't refer to each other by their titles. Cheer up, Kairu. I'm sure we'll have plenty of fun together." She pushed open the dining hall door with her knee and lead Kairu to her private table. Since Adriel had to administer to the different officials, Malina had insisted on having her own table seperate from the political strife, and she only sat at the head table if she had her father's garentee there would be no politics at the table. Hers was large enough for her to seat another two or three people at it if she chose, although usually it was covered in her books and scrolls.
Malina set her book down next to her seat, opening it to the page she had bookmarked, and called one of the servents over. "Breakfast for me and my friend here, please," she requested with a bright smile. The servent bowed and hurried off. Malina turned back to her guest. "So tell me about yourself. Kairu was amazed at the size of the dining hall. He looked around saw some ladies but they didn't quite catch his eye like Malina did. When Malina began talking to him, he turned back and said "Huh?" He tried to recollect what she had said and when he did, he replied, "I grew up in Hyrule, particularly Castle Town. I was born and raised there my whole life. My family is... well, was, in the merchant business. I, instead, wanted to be a soldier for Hyrule. I remember my father mocking me in my decision: 'Defend Hyrule from what?! We're one nation in this world! Everyone is getting along. We're all respecting our space. I am commanding you to become a merchant like every man in our family. I do not want our family name tarnished by your foolish actions!' Sad to say, my family later outcasted me because of this decision and I haven't heard from them since."sigpic

Gyan walked up to the palace, not bothering to be amazed by the sights. It was just another reminder of what happened to the Maku Tree. When he walked up to the guards, they were not kind. They pushed him when he got to close and shouted "WHAT IS YOUR BUSINESS HERE?" Gyan, becoming nervous like he always does, barely managed to look into the guard's eye. "S-sorry s-sir, I-I just wish to see the the B-Baron to show h-him something that might h-help his a-army, sir." Gyan said, very nervous by the time he finished his sentence.
The guard laughed. "What service could you possibly offer?" Suddenly, Gyan's bravery kicked in and in one moment the Gyan had a blade (which had been hidden a gauntlet hidden under his sleeve) in the guard's face. "This. Which could potentially win you the war." The guard, enraged, pushed Gyan back and pulled out his sword. As the guard brought the sword down on Gyan, Gyan brought up his gauntlet to block the guard's sword. The guard's face was one of confusion when his sword rebounded and he stumbled backwards. As Gyan got up, he grinned at the guard. "Now will you let me in?"
The guard sneered, but he entered the castle to go tell the Baron that somebody (who was a bit smart alec-y for his own good[or so it seemed to the guard]) wanted to see him.Comment

"Oh," Malina said. "Wow. That must be so..." She tried to come up with the right word, but she had no real idea what it would be like to be an outcast. Thankfully, she was saved from answered by the return of the servent with breakfast. Smiling, she thanked him, then turned back to Kairu. "I'm sorry you were cast out. Did you ever find yourself a new home?" From what she read in her books, most outcasts spent much of the rest of their lives searching for a new place to belong. She hoped that wasn't the case with Kairu.Phillipians 4:13 - I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Kairu began to talk like he knew the answer, but then stopped. "I- I- Don't- I don't know. I can't remember. I would think so, but to be honest, I'm not sure..." Kairu felt bad now as he genuinely couldn't answer.
MEANWHILE
The guard approached Adriel who had been discussing current affairs and the guard whispered in his ear. Adriel listened intently to the guard recount the event and he nodded. "Alright, I'll listen to him. Bring him in here and escort him in," Adriel then dismissed everyone and awaited the arrival of his guest.sigpic

Gyan waited for a while before the guard came back. "He says he'll listen to you." the guard said. "Better not try anything funny with that blade of yours."
When they got to where Adriel was, the guard slightly shoved Gyan forward like he was some kind of prisoner then stopped moving. Gyan, with a bit of courage left, bowed (as a sign of respect for Adriel of course). "Greetings, Baron Adriel. I have something that may gives us an edge in the conflict we are having with Holodrum if we are forced into defending ourselves." Gyan said, his courage managing to stay, but it wouldn't if Adriel was going to shout at him or something.Comment

Adriel smiled at the man, "Oh? And what is it that you have to show me?" He said willing to let the man demonstrate. "I would very much like suggestions on what to do about the situation. You know doubt heard about the forum discussions yesterday and how the war isn't going as well as we hoped."sigpic

Malina frowned. "You can't remember if you found a new home? Wow, this is more serious than I thought." She put down her fork and pulled a notebook over from where it had been sitting across the table. She usually kept a variety of writing tools around, just in case she forgot them when she left her room. Often, this table was her personal desk as well. She found a charcoal stick and faced Kairu, the old-fashioned pencil poised over the parchment. "Tell me everything you can remember. We'll see if we can jog your memory without the help of a charm or potion." And if I do need a potion, I'm going to have to research more thoroughly, she mused. She didn't want another side effect like the revival potion had. "Let's start with after you left your family. You said you went into the army. Who was your training officer? Did you make any close friends among your fellow recruits? Any rivals?"Phillipians 4:13 - I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Gyan sighed with relief on the inside. So far so good. "Well, sir, its not as much as a suggestion as it is...nevermind, I'll just show you." Gyan took the gauntlet which had been hidden beneath his sleeve on his right wrist, slightly adjusted to to what he thought would fit the Baron's wrist, then he was about to throw it when the guard simply snatched it and delivered it to the Baron. "There, put that on and I'll show you how it works and how it will help you."Comment
