(I guess we can meet the Gorons)

Donovan walked with Kaida through the darkness until he saw a square of bright, white light in the distance. In the middle of the light stood a figure--it looked like a human but was much too tall and muscular to be one. Donovan wondered if there were Gorons in Labrynna and if this was one. Donovan hadn't seen light for a while so it stung his eyes a bit. "You see that, Kaida?" He asked her. "It couldn't be sunlight, the mountain looked much longer than this."

Kaida squinted. "Yeah, I see it." She inched closer to it, Zarola padding alongside her. "Hello," Kaida called, her voice echoing. She winced at her carelessness. If there were any hostiles in these caves, she just broadcasted their position to them. Giants, I need to keep tighter control of my tongue.

As they walked, the light grew and Donovan got more used to it. "We have visitor!" A deep, yet childish voice boomed in the tunnel. It turned out that there were Gorons in Labrynna too, and it looked like they were friendly as well. "Welcome to Rollin Ridge!" The goron made way for the Terminans and Donovan stepped out into the light. They were still inside the mountain, but luckily the big room they were in was lit by torches. Other Gorons were scattered around the room. "Why you guys here?" The goron asked.
"Just trying to get through the mountain." Donovan answered.
"Oh! Go outside and down mountain, and then you'll be at a long bunch o' caves." The goron replied. "If you go through em long enough you'll end up in Hyrule. I dunno what lies beyond, though."
"Hyrule?" Donovan walked outside and looked at the view. It was pretty rocky land, but he thought he could see some desert and forest far in the distance. "You up for Hyrule, Kaida? I have always wanted to see it."

Kaida was surprised to discover the Gorons were here in Labrynna as well, but she took it in stride, rationalizing that there were probably loads of different creatures from Termina elsewhere. She followed after Donovan and the Goron, Zarola on her heels. She was surprised to hear Donovan ask for directions, even more so upon hearing the name Hyrule. Wasn't that where the hero had come from that had stopped the moon from destroying Termina? Beyond that, she knew nothing of the place, so when Donovan asked if she wanted to see it, she just shrugged. "I'm just following. I'll go wherever the wind blows, pretty much."

"Okay then," Donovan shook the goron's hand who gave them directions. "Thanks for the help."
"Come back anytime, brother!" The goron shook Donovan's hand.
Donovan took a few steps down the mountain and already had to roll to avoid getting pancaked by a rolling boulder. "Jeez, I guess that's how Rolling got in the mountain's name." He continued leading Kaida and Zarola down the steep slope, watching for more rolling boulders. "I don't know about you, but I can't wait to get into Hyrule. Did I ever tell you about my past?" He asked Kaida as they were nearing the tunnel.

Kaida followed Donovan down the mountain, keeping an eye out for any boulders rolling her way and side-stepping them. It took a lot of her skill as a body guard to watch two different directions at once. She glanced at Donovan as he mentioned his desire to get to Hyrule and nearly missed a boulder heading towards her. She jumped aside and glared at it as it continued down the mountain. "No, you didn't. I assumed it was private." Like mine.

"Well, it's kinda funny sounding..." Donovan said as he walked with Kaida. "I was brought up by a sheikah named Lyxa in Ikana Valley, but I was born in some village in Hyrule. Kakariko, I think it was called. Well this sheikah was raising me in Termina because my family was for some reason being targeted by some Hylian monsters. I don't know what monsters they were, and I never met my parents either. They were friends with Lyxa and she was babysitting me while they went to some party at the castle town. On their way back, the monsters attacked their carriage and killed my whole family. So pretty much, I never met my family because I was a little baby when it happened. Lyxa took me to Termina and raised me in Ikana Valley until I was 12. She taught me everything I know and I think my last name comes from her too. Then, she just left me. She went back to Hyrule, and left me in Termina field 'for my own good.' I never managed to get back to Hyrule because if I tried climbing the sharp fence back into Ikana to get to Hyrule I would probably bleed to death, and I just never really want to see Ikana again. That place is my biggest nightmare, and skeletons just have weird control over me. That's why I only have control over living animals, but not the undead. But, now I'm finally returning to Hyrule, where Lyxa said she would be waiting for me. I think she would be at least 40 years old at this point." He walked on in silence for a bit. It hurt to think about his past so deeply again, but at the same time it felt good telling someone. He tried changing the subject. "So... how did you end up working as a Mercenary?"

Kaida shook her head as she tried to process what Donovan told her. She had no clue what a Sheikah was, but she wanted patiently for Donovan to finish talking before she asked anything. She hadn't known about the fence in Ikana, as no one ever wanted to go there. She had been sent to find some random trinket in the undead land before, but she always got out as quickly as possible. Very few things freaked her out more than a mummy making its way towards her, moaning the whole way.
She scratched at Zarola's shoulders as she tried to come up with a reply to his question. She really didn't want to go into her history with him, but he had just told her his whole story. She sighed and jumped aside for a boulder. "Well, I guess fair is fair. My story isn't anything like yours. I was the youngest child, with four older brothers. My parents spoiled me and treated me like a girly-girl. But I hated that, so I ran away from home with my youngest brother. Oh, we lived a great life. Going where we pleased, sleeping when we wanted, eating whatever we could steal. We got pretty good at stealing, too.
"Then we decided to try peaking into the Pirates' Fortress. We were able to get pretty close to their leader, I think, but we got caught first. We tried to escape, but they killed my brother and enslaved me. I pretty much lived to clean up after them, even in the weapons' room. They even let me handle some of the weapons, although I only got better with the sword through watching their training. Eventually, I escaped, taking one of the other captives, Justin, with me because he always tried to keep me safe.
"After that, I tried to find some way for me to settle down and make a good income. But there was nothing I was good at except fighting, sneaking, and stealing. That's when I decided to be a bounty hunter. It's a dangerous job, but it has its thrills. This sword I wear, Flame, I got from a Goron as thanks for watching his caravan of supplies. This breastplate I stole from a man who wouldn't take me seriously because I'm a girl." She snorted. "Nothing drives me over the edge faster than someone treating me like a delicate flower. Women can be firm rocks too." She shot a glare at Donovan, daring him to contradict her.

"Yup," Donovan said. He fully understood Kaida. "You're one of the strongest people I have ever met. No joke." And he didn't say that to make her feel better. Kaida was up there with Lyxa on his mental "Strongest people" list. They were talking so deeply that Donovan hadn't noticed the steep slope flatten out. ahead of them was the tunnel the goron told them to go through. It was much taller and wider than the cave they were in earlier, but much longer too. Donovan estimated 30 feet tall and 50 wide. It looked like it got a bit smaller in the distance, but they would never get claustrophobic. Many torches lined the walls of the cave, but only the first two were lit. The Gorons didn't seem to care much for the tunnel, and who else would? Donovan guessed that one or two people pass through here each week. Before long they were under the opening arch of the tunnel. Donovan couldn't help staring at the top of it. It was so tall, he almost fell backwards. There were a few monsters here and there, but they naturally didn't bother him. "You ready?" He asked Kaida. He walked over to one wall and took the torch out of it's stand.

Kaida felt herself flush with pride. Very few people, men in particular, felt she was strong, let along among the strongest people they knew. Perhaps it wasn't so special, coming from Donovan, if he had grown up in Ikana. After all, he would have had little encounter with others. Still, she was happy to know she made such an impression on him, even after all that had happened. Especially in the swamp. She'd never live it down if the man teased her constantly about her disgust with swamp water.
She glanced down the cave mouth. It was so large. She was impressed. There were few craftsmen better than nature, and she had yet to meet them personally to discover if they had really created their works. She glanced at Donovan and grinned. "Ready when you are." She grabbed a few of the unlight torches, just in case the light one wouldn't last the whole way down.

"Okay then," Donovan sighed. "Here we go." He felt a bit worried. Not because of darkness, but just because he had no idea of what lay ahead. From what he had heard, Hyrule was the greatest land of all, but he had heard about it's harsh Gerudo Desert, which was a place he never wanted to go to. He had also heard a legend where the land of Hyrule everyone knows about encountered another realm of Twilight. The thought had always creeped him out. It sounded like death to him.
On the way down the cave, Donovan decided it would be helpful to not only themselves, but also other travelers to light any unlit torches on the way down the cave. As he did, the cave felt safer, and somehow even like shelter. Within minutes they were deep enough it the cave that it shuld have been pitch black, but it wasn't, thanks to lighting other torches. The spot of daylight far behind them kept shrinking smaller and smaller. Donovan guessed it was about noon, and he felt a bit hungry.
"Good thing we took some food," Donovan said as he took some bread from his bag. "I have no idea how long we'll be in here, but I feel like we'll end up sleeping in here."

Kaida followed along next to Donovan as they headed further into the darkness, Zarola at her heels. The place was miserable, even with the light torches. At least, it seemed that way to her. She could hear water trickling further along the tunnel, perhaps away from the path, and it echoed all around her. Drip. Drip. Drip. The steady sound was really starting to get on her nerves. Still, Donovan lighting the rest of the torches cheered the place up a bit. The crackling fire helped her ignore the annoying water.
When he stopped for lunch, Kaide pulled an apple and some bread from her own pack, offering half the apple to Donovan. "Hopefully, we won't have to spend the night. I don't mind walking in the darkness, but I'm a little tense about sleeping in it. Never know what sort of creatures could be living in here." She started munching on her apple.

"No thanks, I got plenty of food in my bag," Donovan told Kaida when she offered him the apple. "I should have control over the monsters in here, so we're probably safe. It doesn't look like the place for the undead. We'll just have to keep our eyes open and see what kinds of creatures live here." Donovan finished a fairly large bunch of bread and stood up, stretching a bit as he waited for Kaida to finish her food. "If the cave goes on like this until the end, we should be fine. If any undead do come up, we'll be having more fun than just walking, I guess..." Donovan tried to shake any worry from Kaida. He felt some worry himself, mainly because he didn't have a clue of what lay ahead. He also was naturally bothered by just the thought of skeletons.

(Any idea of what monsters would be in the caves? All I can think of is Tektites, Skulltulas and Keese... maybe Dodongos too... Has anyone even roleplayed in this cave before?)

(nope. We're the first. You're right about most, but I think there's another enemy. I can't remember its name, but it's one of those guys in the 2D games that hurts you when you hit it with the sword.)

Kaida shrugged and finished the apple. She glanced at Zarola, but the black leopard seemed fine, so she replaced half her loaf in her pack and glanced down the path. "I've never fought undead, nor do I want the privalidge(sp). I've fought most of the beasts in Termina Field, because of my bounty hunting. Those Dodongos are a pain in the ****, but I've lived through scrapes with them." She grimaced at the memory. "Nearly lost my skin in the process, but I've managed to beat anything I've had to fight. Whatever these Labrynnan devils throw at us, I doubt it'll be any worse than anything else I've faced." She looked at Donovan. "Shall we continue?"

"Sure, let's go," Donovan said as he began walking towards the darkness. He lit a torch he passed, and the next unlit one was just at the edge of the newly lit one's light. It appeared that the torches got more spread out as they got deeper into the cave. "So you have faced Dodongos before? I remember Lyxa telling me about them, but I thought they were only found in Hyrule." Lyxa told Donovan many stories about monsters she had faced in Hyrule. "Yeah, she told me a lot of her stories from Hyrule. She seemed to travel a lot."
