Tyra cracked an eye to regard Zaria, a smile spreading on her face. "Captain of one of the most feared ships on the seas, and probably have wanted posters for each of my disguises? If you knew a girl stronger than me, I'd immediately find that girl and join her crew, whether it be land or sea." She then turned her gaze to the archer. "Looking for work, eh? Well, I suppose we are hiring, arn't we." She shot a glare at the flag, as if it had raised itself without her permission, then straightened. "Ever sailed before, mate? Have ya any experience with trimming the sails or navigatin'? I can see you're an archer. Have you ever shot from a ship, that bounces up 'n' down with the swelling of the sea? It can alter your shot a good deal, those waves." She saw Felix come back on the deck and waved him over. "If not, I'm sure Felix here can use you for some of the more mundane things in the galley. Couldn't ya, Beaver? Peelin' taters, choppin' onions, and the like?" She nodded to herself with self-satisfaction. "Aye, we could use a proper cabin boy, I think. Watcha think, mate?"

      *From Wandering*

It only felt like minutes before Zulo's claws met one of Falconmill's wooden docks. He looked around cautiously. It didn't look like there were any ritos to worry about yet. He stared at the ocean a while in wonder. The only part of the ocean he had ever seen was that north of Clearcliff. He had always wondered if anything else lied beyond Logata in the ocean. Then something else caught his eye--ships. He walked further down the dock towards the water, and stopped at the end of the dock by one ship where a captain-looking woman seemed to be hiring a man for her crew on board. These guys could be getting ready for a voyage, he thought, grinning. If they let me on board, the ritos will never catch me. He panicked a bit when he noticed a rito near the woman, but he didn't recognize this rito and she was young, so he figured he shouldn't worry about her. He eavesdropped a bit until he was certain they were headed somewhere soon, and he called up to who he thought was the captain when she was done talking to the man.
"Hello miss," he shouted with a friendly tone. It felt strange speaking to a Logatan because he rarely spoke to anyone besides Clearcliff ritos. He hoped she wouldn't act like the previous Logatans he had met that day. "May I ask where your vessel is headed?"

(This is a bit out of order so just don't respond until Tyra's done with Deann.)

Felix lazily walked over to Tyra when he was called upon. However, as he neared them he stood up straight and listened to what she had to say. He smiled wryly while in the inside he churned with brewing dislike towards the guy. Not because he thought he was bad in any way, but because he didn't feel like having to take care of another person in the kitchen. Still, he waited for Tyra to finished and then got up close with the guy. Luckily, they were the same height, so even if the other man looked older he had no problem looking him straight in the eye. Green colored irises stared right back.
"Ya know, a cabin boy isn't a half bad idea, Tyra. I just wonder if this, eh, newcomer has what it takes. I mean, even a job like that takes the most skill outta you it can," he said, only a sly bit mockingly. He began stepping around Deann, looking him up and down. It seemed leather was popular with this one. "Ave you ever rushed around a moving vessel, shrimp? Moved with the arched back of having the weight and burden of the world on ya shoulders? Ever known the feel that ya slow **** is bein waited for, the lives of an entire population depending on the weight you carry?" He stopped pacing, and looked at him once again straight in the eye. This time he was closer to Deann than before. He could even hear the deep breaths of the guy and knew he must be uncomfortable. "Ave ya ever been 'fraid of tripping, of messing up, of knowing that yer mistake might just cause a peer of yours to starve?" he whispered heavily, elongating the sound of the a in his last word for a dramatic effect. Finally, he pulled away. "Cause, ya know, that's what this job's all about. It requires brawn and brain to match. And the gut to take on it in the first place. Ya think ya have what it takes, mate?"
Felix was well aware that Deann, whose name he hadn't heard, was probably older and more experienced than he was. He was also aware that he was greatly exaggerating the job of a cabin boy, although in the meaning beneath the hyperbole it was true what he had said. Still, he enjoyed the higher ground for as long as he could. Deep in his mind he was wary though, because he knew if Deann was hired, be it as a cabin boy or not, he was already higher ranked than Felix. After all, Felix was a mere slave.

(Yeah, go ahead, Deku. We're just wrapping up with Deann, then you can join in real easily.
Blender, whenever you want to post his response to Tyra and Felix, please. They're purposefully needling him, because Tyra wants to know if he can keep his mouth shut about White Wolf's true identity. It is a wanted ship, after all. :P)

Deann rolled his shoulders lightly, as if to shrug off the... comments. He looked this... person square in the eyes, his gaze not wavering. "Actually, yes. I do know the feeling. I know what it's like to be afraid. I know what it takes to walk with the responsibility of the lives of others bearing down on you. And, one last thing... mate?" Deann stepped around him, looking around.

These people speak awful strange. It makes me wonder if they're even sober...

He looked at the captain. She certainly seemed to exude confidence. Whether it was simply large amounts of confidence or arrogance, well, that remained to be seen. "Truth be told, I've spent most of my life on land. Hunted to support my family. I'm what you could call a good shot with a bow, and the bobbing of a ship would simply take some adjusting, little more. I might not have the best skill set suited to sailing, but I've been known to learn things quickly. Besides, like you said, somebody needs to do the dirty work."
So I'm back, or at least I will be eventually. Trying to reintegrate myself.

Tyra shot Felix a grin. Perfect there, Beaver. The stress of that will reveal his character. If he can handle the burden of others' lives, he can handle being part of our crew. She turned her gaze to the man as he answered and felt her grin broaden. Not only did he answer calmly, he gave her nearly the answer she was looking for.
A bellow of laughter escaped her and she clamped a hand on the man's shoulder. "You'll fit in just fine, mate. You've got a good temper and if you provided for your family, I think we can trust you to watch our backs, and you trust us to watch yours." She glanced around to see if Jasin was still on deck, but her master of arms had gone to his quarters. Shrugging, she turned back to her new hand. "So what's your name, lad?" She wondered how he'd react to the word. It would tell her roughly how old he was, since he appeared to be her age.

Alwin peered through the rocks at the ship, bobbing up and down in the water. There were a few people on deck... but not too many. He turned to Dean and Bob, "Are you sure this is the place?"
Dean listened to the cat, then turned back to Alwin, "Yes it is. But be careful... they can be dangerous."
Alwin nodded, then silently dove into the ocean. His blue-green back hid him from sight as he approached the ship. Then, silently, he found a handhold and began to climb.
                  Then he listened.

"My name's Deann. Do you know when we can be expected to... what's the terminology seafarers use? Cast off?" He spoke apprehensively. This woman seemed strong, somebody you wouldn't want to squabble with. He chose his words carefully, making sure not to offend. He glanced around at the ship. It certainly was of a fair size.

Jasin, having unloaded his supplies, walked up to the deck, he glanced around and walked towards Tyra. "Captain, I've got the iron necessary to replicate these. We'd just need something to sufficiently heat it. Any ideas?" He shot a sideways glance at the archer. "And you're here because...?"
                    "Because I need a job."
                    "Oh. Delightful."

Tyra laughed. "We'll make a sailor of you yet, mate. Welcome aboard the Sea Queen, Deann." She glanced over at Jasin as she heard his approach and nodded as he gave his report. "Beaver, how hot would you say you can get the oven in the galley? Hot enough for Jasin to make his mini-cannons?" She glanced at Deann. "Sorry, Oak, forgot to introduce you. This is Felix, my cook and slave, and Jasin, my Master of Arms. The Rito over there is my navigator Zaria, and the young man over there is my brother and first mate Corin. Beaver, Wolf, Hawk, Sparrow, say hello to our newest crewmate, Deann."
Suddenly the ship dipped to one side, causing Tyra to frown. The ship only tilted like that if it was taking on water, or if someone was climbing the side. She gave Zaria a look, then directed her gaze pointedly to the side that was leaning. The Rito would understand her captain to want her to check it out, without letting the intruder to know his presence had been detected. Although, anyone who knew anything about ships would know the vessel would tilt when being boarded. Just like anything that floated on the water.
Something else that happened rather abruptly was the hail of another Rito. She was surprised by the bird-creature's call and annoyed when he called her "miss". However, he called the White Wolf hers, so he wasn't too ignorant. She flashed him a grin. "We're heading to lands unknown to explore places never 'fore seen. Ya wanna to join us, ya either gotta pay for passage, or have a useful role aboard my ship." She tried to soften the words with a wave towards the gangplank, inviting the Rito aboard her ship.

Zaria nodded to Tyra and slid down from the barrel she'd been sitting on. Stepping back on the deck, as not to hit anybody, she spread her wings. Chuckling, she folded them back ever so slightly, she really did that purely to show off. The docks were packed this time of day, the sun wasn't too low in the sky but it was making it's way down to pull up night.
There was quite a bit of space between the water and the dock itself, but the tide was moving in. Moving farther back on the dock, she ran out and leaped off the dock, pushing down hard with her wings and swooping onto the deck.
It was completely uncalled for, but it drew a few looks. She climbed up to the crow's nest (haha) on the main mast of the White Wolf to have a look around the general area of the ship. She couldn't see straight down the sides, but she could see the whole deck. It still tilted to the open sea side, though Tyra instructed her not to let the 'intruder' as they were to know they knew. Somebody would've caught them if the intruder had moved below deck, so she made herself comfortable and gazed up at the sky and felt the ship bob ever so slightly. When it moved dramatically Zaria would look down to see what caused it, but usually it was a new crew member or one of her old mates.

Zulo hesitantly stepped onto the ship, stumbling a bit from the slightest tilting of the deck as he had never been on any boat before. He thought about the options Tyra gave him if her were to tag along for the voyage; he forgot to bring any money with him, so his only choice was to do some kind of work for the crew. He probably wouldn't bet fit for that work anyways. He didn't do much work in Clearcliff, being a rito prince and all. In fact, he probably wouldn't fit in anywhere in the whole sailor community. Nobody associates Ritos with sailors... at least that's what Zulo thought. Ah, what the heck, he told himself. Couldn't hurt to ask what these "roles" are.
"Well, there's no money on me at all, so that knocks payment out of the question," Zulo told the captain, trying to keep the friendliness going. "And what job would a Rito like myself be able to handle on a big ship like this?" As he spoke, Zulo himself started finding the whole idea of taking a ship less exciting. It didn't look like there was a place for him in the crew, and if he did go, the Ritos would think he had gone and died. If he wanted to one day return to Clearcliff, they probably wouldn't let him back. Though, the thought of discovering unknown lands kept it's appeal. That would be much more of any achievement he could make hanging around back in the village as some useless prince that nobody besides Ritos care about.

Felix smiled and nodded at Deann. "Very well then, welcome aboard," he said after Tyra finished introducing them. Then he turned to her to answer her question. "Well, I'm not much of a blacksmith, but I do know my work equipment very well," he pondered. "I would say as long as the flame is kept under control, I can heat it up to as high a temperature as he needs. However, some adjustments would need to be made to it so that he can access the flame without burning himself or things around him." He shrugged and looked at the Sun as Zaria flew up. His calculations said there were a couple of hours before sunset, so he turned back to Tyra once more. "Anyways, I do believe I should go set up the kitchen and start preparing dinner. I'll let you know when it's ready." Noticing another newcomer, he slightly bowed his departure and hurried below deck, not in the mood to deal with another aspiring sailor.

Tyra watched Zaria fly to the crow's nest, waiting to hear the Rito's assessment on their intruders. If their intruder seemed dangerous, Zaria would be expected to capture him or her and bring the would-be intruder onboard. Then Tyra would pass judgement for the trespassing, and likely send their captive back ashore, or to her brig. Probably the latter, until they needed some sort of bait to lure away an enemy ship or creature, although she'd have to send Felix back ashore for more supplies. I should just put any prisoners on half-rations, she thought to herself. She preferred to keep them healthy, but since they wouldn't be working near as hard as her crew, they really shouldn't be fed as well.
Pushing the thoughts from her mind for now, she smiled at the Rito standing before her. "Likely I'd make you a secondary for Hawk. She's our navigator and usually our look-out. Few have the eyes of a bird or Rito. Makes 'em the best look-outs. She could show you the ropes and then I wouldn't have to worry so much if she gets injured. Problem with a small crew is that it puts the whole crew in danger if one is in trouble." She winked at the young Rito. "Or you could be our cabin boy, since Oak here would be of better use on the oars. Not that we use the oars much, except in difficult seas, but a skimp like you wouldn't be able to handle them. Whadya say, Feathers?" She glanced over briefly as Felix made his excuses and left, frowning a little at the abruptness, but she figured it was because the new people would making him feel uncomfortable. She knew he disliked people, which is why she was so grateful to him for being willing to act as her spy aboard other ships.

As the captain spoke, the idea of traveling with the crew to unknown lands grew in appeal to Zulo. He hadn't expected a sailor to be so welcoming, especially to a young, weak rito. The navigation job sounded like it would fit him well too, and it would be interesting working with another Rito. Maybe she wouldn't recognize him as the Rito prince.
"I guess you can count me in," Zulo said, smiling back to the captain. "Oh, and my name's Zulo."
