Zaria finally grew bored of waiting in the Crow's nest and hopped down from it, flapping once or twice so she didn't splat on the ground. "I haven't seen anything Captain Tyronica," she was really only using that term because of the newbies. "If you'd like I can check around the ship nonchalantly." she turned to Zulo, looking him up and down. He was well dressed and didn't look like a mess, so he couldn't have been from where she grew up. "Who's the new kid; he looks awfully young to be on a ship like this." "Though, then again so is Felix."

"Welcome aboard the Sea Queen,Zulo," Tyra said, smiling at the young Rito. She'd have to take both him and Deann below-decks after they were off-shore, to inform them of the true nature of their new home. She might wait, though, see if it would be worth it to make these two permanent members of the crew. If they were only going to be temporary members, she shouldn't tell them about the White Wolf, just in case. Then again, most sea captains knew that Tyronica was captain of the infamous vessel, they just didn't know her description. She often wore an eye patch when boarding another ship, switching which eye it covered frequently. Sometimes she wore a hat, other times a scarf, and still other, leaving her hair completely visible. And just the right amount of kohl in the right places could change the shape of her eyes. Maybe it couldn't hurt to inform them of their new jobs. After leaving land behind. She didn't want them to try jumping ship to turn her in for whatever the bounty was on her head. She'd rather let them think it through completely first, and gotten a chance to see if she really deserved to be imprisoned, and if it would be worth it to have her brother and the rest of her crew after them.
"Hawk, this is Zulo," she said to her navigator. "He's going to be your second. I want you to train him as a navigator and show him what all he needs to do when he's on look-out. For now, take him with you and look around for our intruders. Feathers, I want you to listen to everything she tells you. Unless Corin or I over-rule it, her orders are your laws. Understand?"

Finally entering the kitchen welcomed Felix as though he was coming home. He breathed in and caught wisps of all the different flavors wafting through the air from the recently purchased groceries. After a few more seconds of breathing the scents in he got to work. He gathered everything he would need for the meal he was planning and began the cooking process. He began by chopping the large onion, making sure not to cut all the way to the root just yet. Then he cut the red pepper and peeled the garlic cloves. He got out the pan and placed it on the stove. He added some nice oil he'd found in the market, suitable for cooking (only a spoon of it). Then he waited for a couple of minutes so that it would heat up before adding the onion. He let it cook, stirring occasionally for a few minutes. Once he knew they would be nice and squidgy he added the garlic and red pepper, as well as some good-smelling hot powder, paprika, and ground cumin. He stirred the mixture and let it cook for five more minutes. His nose enjoyed the delicious smells he was creating a lot.
After time was up he proceeded to add the minced beef. There was enough to please the entire crew, and then some. As it sizzled he broke it up using his spoon. He kept at it for about five more minutes. The smells were now so strong in the kitchen that it was probably slipping through the boards and, if you were on deck and payed enough attention, you could probably smell it. Once the mince was all nicely shaped and he was pleased with how he'd left no pink bits, he got to work on the sauce. He'd made sure to keep the heat up enough so that the meat would brown and not only stew.
He'd made sure to heat water in another pot, to which now he added some powdered beef seasoning. He then added the water to the mixture in the pan. Then he chopped up some tomatoes and added them as well. Then came the dried marjoram and sugar. Finally he added about two spoons of his special tomato purée which he'd made earlier. He stirred it well. After a few seconds to catch his breath, he brought the whole mixture to a boiling point, stirred it, and then covered it. He then made sure to blow out some of the heat and settled in to wait. It had to be at least twenty more minutes before adding anything else. At some points he would go up to it, stir it a bit and add a little bit of water if he needed to. Eventually the mixture looked nicely thick and specially juicy.
Finally he used his homemade sieve to rinse the red kidney beans he'd bought and then stirred them into the pot. He added more flame to make the mixture boil once more and stay bubbling without the lid for about ten more minutes. Finally he tried it, which he'd been wanting to every since he'd started, and made sure to add seasoning as needed. Then he put the cover back on, blew the fire out completely, and let the mixture sit for the time it was needed. The smell now was at its most glorious point, enticing even the fish beneath the ship. His mouth watered but he didn't touch the food. Instead, while he waited for the ten minutes before serving passed, he got to work on some simple boiled rice. This was one of his special dishes, and he normally wouldn't make it. Once they were out at sea the quality of the food would be much simpler to make sure their supplies didn't run out, but seeing as how this was one of their last (if not the last) night on shore, he thought it adequate. He looked at the meal, still sizzling in place, its beautiful textures and colors melting his eyes, not to mention what the smell was doing to his nose.
He looked at the ceiling, and got ready to inform Tyra that dinner was ready.

"I understand, Captain," Zulo responded to Tyronica, trying to be as respectful as he could. The phrase "listen to everything (s)he tells you" reminded him of Clearcliff when the Ritos warned him not to do dumb things like leaving the village. Hopefully he would follow this Rito's orders more easily. He guessed that Hawk was a nickname, because he seemed to have his own already and didn't know of any Rito who would actually be named Hawk. He didn't mind his own nickname at all either. It was better than being called a prince. Especially when you're a prince with no power.
Zulo waited for Hawk to take the lead in searching for these intruders, as he was unknown to the duties of the navigator. He hoped these intruders wouldn't be much of an issue.

Corin waved to the two newcomers as they entered the "Sea Queen"'s deck, hoping they wouldn't be too much of an issue. They was the chance that they were spies or thieves, or just plain stupid people that shouldn't be in the crew. It didn't look like it though. He was surprised to see a Rito, as he saw them very rarely besides Zaria. Whatever the enw guys were up to, he didn't feel like hanging with them yet. As he checked to make sure the ship was in perfect shape, Corin picked up the smell of some dish Felix must have been cooking up. He was a big fan of food and could tell they were in for a nice dinner. With nothing left to do above deck, he walked back downstairs where he could get a better smell of what seemed to be beans and walked to his room, sitting down on his bed and picking up his guitar like always when he had nothing else to do.

Deann couldn't help but smile at being accepted. He walked up to Tyra, hoping he wasn't interrupting anything. "So captain, what can I do to make myself useful?" He wanted to convince her he should be kept around.

Jasin, somewhat miffed about Deann's inclusion, retreated to his quarters. He spread his drawings out on his cot/bed/whatever they've got(that rhymed) and crouched over them, observing them and memorizing their every detail. A blacksmith's work was such that one couldn't stop to check any kind of instructions. He needed to know the ins and outs of every component.

Zaria nodded to Tyra and then turned to Zulo. "I didn't find any intruders, but I suppose I can show you the ropes of navigation." She lead Zulo on deck and started going down below to the crews' quarters but was stopped short from the smell of Felix's cooking and Corin's guitar playing. "Dinner's going to be ready soon, and it's gonna be good," she grinned and turned back to Zulo. "I'll show you navigation and things later, and Tyra will show you where you're going to sleep."

Tyra nodded to herself as Zaria and Zulo started to go below-decks. She had a feeling the two Rito would get along swimmingly. The addition of the male Rito would certainly be a benefit. Now she needed to make sure Deann fit in. She grinned at him. "For now, just go see if Beaver's finished making dinner. If the smell is any indication, you'll be in for a treat; he's making chile. She strode towards the stern of her vessel, and looked out to sea. The sun was setting, dying the water a deep red and orange. "We'll be heading out after dinner," she called, her voice reaching every part of the ship. Make sure you're ready, cause it's gonna be a long time 'fore we see shore again!" She grinned, already looking forward to the adventures awaiting her and the crew of White Wolf.

Jasin could smell the night's meal being made. It was certainly tantilizing(HBC said chili so I'm gonna assume it smells like chili I've smelt). It had something of a meatiness to it, but he could smell there was a spice of some kind. His stomach grumbled. His hunger hadn't been on his mind until now. He returned his gaze to his drawings, trying not to let the aroma distract him, when he then noticed that Corin was at it again with his infernal plucking and whatnot. He rubbed his face with his hands, deciding that any sort of productive work was a lost cause.

Deann nodded at his captain's orders, and went below deck. At first he was puzzled by where this dinner was being made, but then the smell caught his attention and he followed it to the kitchen/galley. He poked his head into the kitchen, seeing the person of interest. "Hi, um... Felix, was your name? Anywho, the captain want's to know if the dinner is ready yet."

Pleased with the amount of time his food had had to rest, Felix began withdrawing plates from the cabinet. He was about to go out and announce dinner was ready when he heard someone come in behind him. He turned to see the newcomer from earlier. "Yes. Felix," he replied, turning to Deann, "and yes, it is. I was about to go tell Tyra too. I'm finishing serving the food so it'd be great if you went to tell her for me, and let the others' know as well if you can. Thanks." He smiled politely, although he wasn't sure what to think of the guy yet, and turned back to the plates. There would be plenty for everyone, by the looks of it.

(BC has agreed to letting us godmod his characters to keep the story moving, so without further ado: )

Deann nodded at Felix and turned away. He tried retracing his steps up to the deck, but couldn't help getting lost a couple of times. He took advantage of it, however, and let everyone he saw on his way know that dinner was ready and that they should make their way up to eat. Felix had deemed it a special occasion, so he thought it was best if they ate in the view of the sunset rather than within the ship. By the time Deann managed to make his way outside, everyone in the ship was informed to the dinner formalities. He went up to Tyra once again and informed her of what Felix had told him. Without further instructions, he waited by her.

Felix finished getting the plates ready, stacked up in a cart where they wouldn't fall, and he wheeled them out. It was a slow process, but he finally got to the stairs leading to the outside. Then, he began taking trays up, placing them on a small table, and returning for the rest. He thought everyone would've made it on deck by the time he finished.

(I think Deku accidentally posted in White Wolf instead of here when he came back. But yeah I think Ammy's right about where they are)

On the other side of a couple thin wooden walls, Corin picked up the sound of plates and silverware clattering and shot to his feet, dropping his guitar on his bed. The amazing smell of Felix's cooking had grown stronger than before, and the hungry sailorboy knew it was dinnertime. Almost unconsciously, Corin let the wafting scent of beans lure him out of his cabin and up the stairs, where he saw it. A few plates were circled around a smallish table on deck. On each of them was a pile of brown meat, beans, peppers and more grub Corin couldn't wait to destroy. He raced over and found a seat in no time, holding back just long enough to let the others sit down.

Zaria lead Zulo back onto the deck, figuring he could be given more or less a grand tour after dinner. Meaning, she would show him the latrine and his quarters an leave him to find his way around. She sat herself next to Corwin and grinned, dinner right before a long voyage was always the best, each one better than the last. In her opinion, anyway. It wasn't that fish got old after a while, but nothing could compare to land food fresh off the market. Zaria eagerly awaited everyone's arrival, especially that of the captain, who would likely give the new crew mates a lecture.

(I might be wrong, but I thought when we were first planning the crew last year we decided that Tyra and Corin were the only ones with their own quarters? Of course, I guess the others will need rooms if the trip will be long)

Zulo followed Zaria, laying his eyes on the food ahead. It was like nothing he had seen before. What he ate at Clearcliff tended to be pretty simple, much simpler than what he saw now. He wasn't even sure what this food was, but figured it would be good considering how quick Corin zipped to a seat. At the table, Zulo sat on the other side of Zaria, still trying to figure out what the jumble on his plate was. It's smell filled his beak and it seemed alright. It had been a long day, and he was relieved to be sitting at a table with a full meal.
He took his eyes off the food and took in the scenery. It was beautiful outside. The dark clouds from before had pushed by, revealing a bright sky of pinks and oranges as the sun approached the horizon. The Sea Queen gently rocked and tilted in a way that relaxed the rito a bit. He gazed towards the unknown emptiness far away where these new lands might be. It seemed impossible, but the idea was amazing. The adventure ahead looked promising.

(If the sun sets in the west in Aow they might not see it on the ocean but whatever)

Making sure no one was looking, Alwin slowly climbed over the side of the ship. He silently ducked behind a few barrels and took a (very limited) look around. He saw a couple people on deck, but not very many. As the sun set behind him, he rubbed his arms, wondering How long was I on the side of that ship?

Dean was in a small boat, just a little ways off the aft-side of the ship. He heaved a sigh of relief... the zora had finally gotten on.
