Rhykim slammed a fist down into the table, leaving a crack. He was now angry at the turn of events with 'Nexus' than he was about not being able to form a plan. He looked up and saw Nahim bowing. "Come in, Commander. What can I do for you?" he asked trying to tone down his anger and not take it out on his own men.

Nahim, slightly disturbed by Rhykims anger, straightened his posture and cleared his throat. "Lord Rhykim," Nahim started, "lately a question has kept rising in my mind. I am simply curious about what are you to do now that Logata is yours. Are you to settle down and rule? Or do you aspire to conquer elsewhere?"

"Commander, I'm a soldier. Battle and conquering is all I know. I'm thinking, first we need to secure the island. That means assaulting the Gorons and the Gerudos. From there, well I've received.... intelligence of a new place to conquer. It's apparently an entire continent with four countries. Here's the map. I just...," and his voice broke off in his frustration returning, "Cannot figure out how to assault this place."

Nahim looked at the map, the first thing he saw was that Logata was easily closer to the country labeled "Termina". He racked his brains for ideas how to assault this country, suddenly, an idea came to him "Lord, I see 2 obvious options right now. The first is the part of the coast labeled 'pirate fortress', this implies that there might be a place we can make our starting point for an invasion. There might be supplies there if it is deserted, and if it isn't, we could take over the fortress from the pirates and use their supplies. The second option I see is that island labeled "Zora Hall" farther down the coast. We might want to investigate that, as it would be a great place to launch an invasion. If we could move supplies there, it could act as a midway point between Logata and this new continent. Of course there are other places to land, but I believe these two options would be the simplest and possibly the most effective".

Rhykim looked at the map and followed Nahim's plan. He made some excellent points. Taking this Pirate's Fortress would be an excellent staging ground. In addition to taking Zora's Hall. Both would be valuable in assaulting this Clock Town and capturing Termina. "Sounds like a good plan to me. I say we'll need some reconnaissance on these locations. I'll also run it by General Nyx and see what she thinks of the plan." Rhykim sighed a relieving sigh, "And thank you, Commander."

Amaya flashed the Stari a smile, while mentally fishing through her memories to remember who he was. After a minute she remembered his name. Ranger. Wow, it's been awhile since we've seen him. I wonder if he still remembers my name? She patted Solar's head, then turned her attention to back to him. "I was out here helping with the wounded, but I believe Nyx was. I'll let her tell you what happened."

Xeonph walked down to the courtyard, still disgusted with his brother.

If only Rhykim had let me finish that fight... there'd be one less person I wanted gone. I could've beaten him, I know it.

He wondered what this intelligence mission was about. Rhykim had almost seemed on-edge when they had talked. What had happened?
So I'm back, or at least I will be eventually. Trying to reintegrate myself.
My 3DS Friend Code is 3437-3052-8998. I'm usually playing the MH4U demo or MH4U(When it comes out), but I'd also be down for 3DS Smash Bros.

Rhykim stood there, now being rather thoughtful. He started at the map and the markings Nahim had made. He wasn't focusing on it at all, in fact, he was thinking about the events with 'Nexus' again. He was wondering if there was a chance to disobey but when he started making a plan, her voice spoke telepathically, "I even know what you're thinking. Try it, if you are stupid enough."

Layla pulled her arrows out of dead bodies and examained them. Broken ones she put in a bag she carried, to see what she could salvage from them later for new arrows. The few that were whole she cleaned off and returned to her quiver. After finding her two dozen, or at least most of the pieces, she straightened and stretched. Casually, she loosened the barriers around her mind. Earlier, with all the pain and death, it hurt to keep her mind open, and she had to fight blind. Now that it was more calmed down, however, she felt it same to reach out and brush minds, just to make sure no one was sneaking up on her to put a knife in her, or worse, to tear off her mask and expose her scars.
For awhile, all Layla sensed were the minds of the wounded, as well as a few people who were treating those people, in the courtyard. Then she turned her attention to the castle. Minds of servants, a few military personnal, even a Draco, which surprised her. Then she sensed something larger. It was further than she normally could extend her mind, but it was so large that she could sense it anyways. Beset by curiosity, Layla entered the castle to find out what it was.
Her mind started to lead her down the stairs, but something tugged Layla another way also. Curious, she followed this second urging to find that the large mind, who so far seemed to be ignoring her, had a connection to another person. She stared at the man before her with surprise, as she could sense his anger and dismay. Layla wondered if he was bound so firmly to the larger mind that his own was suppressed, but a closer look into his head revealed that he was indeed in control of his body. She tilted her head as she examined him, for she had never felt anything like this before.

                    • Rhykim looked up and saw the woman standing there, staring at him. Despite his size, the staring was making him a little uncomfortable. He spoke to her with a rather harsh tone, "Can I help you? If not, I'd appreciate it if you weren't staring. It... unnerves me," he confessed reluctantly, still with a harsh tone.

                      • Layla smiled behind her mask. Unnerved to be stared at? If this man was who she was thinking, he had better get used to it. Peasants loved to stare at their leaders. "I am not sure, my lord," she answered, putting in the title and speaking a little more respectfully than usual, in case he was Rhykim. "I sense something from you, but as I do not know if you know it is there. Another mind, linked tightly with yours. I am curious about it, for I have never sensed its like before." Except for the bond she had shared with her cheetah Twinkle. The unexpected thought brought tears to her eyes, but she blinked them away quickly. He could see her eyes, and she did not want to portray weakness, in case the larger being spotted it through him and attacked her.

                        • "How do you know that? It's not something that has been shared with the soldiers, so I want to know how you know this," Rhykim said, now becoming angry because he felt like he was being backed into a corner over the situation with Nexus. The back of his head tried calming him down, but he didn't like some unknown person staring and then revealing that she knew or saw the connection he had to Nexus.

                          • Layla almost laughed at the anger the man had. "You have not met many Stari, my lord. If you had, you would know that there are those among us who can sense minds." She placed her fist over her heart and bowed over it. "I am Layla Serino, but please call me Serino. May the night shelter you, my lord." She straightened and examined his mind again. Carefully, she touched his connection with the larger being, then loosened its hold. It would only be temporary, but it might be enough for her to speak without it over-hearing. "My talent allows me to sense minds and put a slight control over them. With this talent, I can influence your thoughts or emotions if I desired. With this talent, I can break your connection with this other mind, though I do not know how long the break will last, nor if I can fully separate you from it."

                            • What Layla said seemed to let a lightbulb go off inside him. When she temporarily broke the connection, Rhykim felt the release of a lot of pressure. Just as quickly as the connection was broken, Nexus regained the connection and showed it by send Rhykim into a bout of pain in which he collapsed to the ground, gasping for air. Nexus then spoke to Layla in Rhykim's mind, "Child, I don't know who you are, but unless you want to see your leader die, I suggest you leave his mind and my connection to him alone." It's presence faded leaving Rhykim unconscious on the floor.

                              • Layla was surprised by the sudden return of the being to Rhykim's mind, but not overly much by the pain it sent to Rhykim, and to her through her mental connection. She shook her head to clear the pain away. Her connection to Rhykim almost dissipated before the Nexus had delivered its message to her, but it was just strong enough for it to cross over. She quickly dissolved it fully when she heard its warning, but she also laughed aloud. "He is not my leader, Nexus," she told it, although she knew Rhykim wasn't awake any more. "He is the leader of my people, but I do not serve him."
She almost left the room at that, but decided against it. After all, if Rhykim was found unconscious and he claimed she had done it when he woke, Layla would be as good as dead. Sighing, she started to pick him up to carry to a bed, but he was so heavy, she couldn't lift him. Grumbling, she reached into his mind and very gently, tried to wake him. He'd have one heck of a headache if he did wake up, but he'd have one anyways.
