Sephira didn't have any trouble entering Clock Town, although she noticed the guards watching her. She hoped they wouldn't have any reason to stop her, as she wanted to get a feel for the town before finding Maxwell. "I wonder how hard it would be to meet with him," she mused quietly. She didn't think it would be too difficult, depending on what sort of leader he was. If he was the kind who had to keep his finger on everything, the only sure thing was that it he wouldn't be at the palace, or whatever these people had for the ruling class.
Clock Town itself was a quaint little town. No where near as busy as Castle Town, and it was much neater. The Termina city had been divided into four regions when it had ben constructed, and each were built a lot more neatly than the random mish-mash of placement that Castle Town had. It would be much easy to find her way around here than her home country's city. She might even prefer Clock Town, if she ever chose a place to settle.

On the walls of Clock Town, three guards watched Sephira find her way around Clock Town.

"Umm...ah, Giant's foot! I forgot what he said to do about strange people!" One of the guards said, unware that one of his companions had a high position.

"How am I supposed to know?! I joined two weeks after you!" The other guard said.

The third one sighed, and took off his helmet. "I always knew there was something wrong with this division. You tell me, and let me handle it!"

The other two jumped back, and gave their superior a salute. "Yes, Lord Maxy-I mean Maxwell!"

Maxwell hit both of the guards, and then walked away. "You two are on night shift tonight!" Maxwell yelled as he walked away, sentencing them to what was practically a death to recruits like themselves. Missing dinner was not fun when you worked for Maxwell.

A little bit later, Maxwell found Sephira looking around in West Clock Town, and leaned against the side of a building, not caring if she noticed him or not. Okay, so she's definitely attractive, but that doesn't tell me anything. C'mon, pick a fight with one of the guards or something. Oh, wait! That gives me a wonderful idea.

Maxwell made eye contact with one of his soldiers, then pointed at the Sephira and nodded, telling him to go pick a fight with her. The soldier nodded, then made his way over to her.

"Ma'am, I'm afraid I'm going to have to take all your money and kick you out of Clock Town. You're causing a disturbance in the peaceful environment we have here." The guard said, trying to make Sephira mad/annoyed enough to fight him. If this didn't work, he'd probably be executed for failing a direct order from Maxwell. On the flip side, Sephira would probably kill him, or at least mortally wound him. Either way, this didn't have a happy ending for the soldier who was unfortunate enough to have gone on an early break, thinking nothing bad could've possibly happened to him.

Sephira narrowed her eyes as a guard approached her. Disturbing the peace? All she was doing was walking around the town. Her dress was the only thing that could be 'disturbing the peace', with its flamboyant color. And why would he need to take her money as well? Something was off about the whole thing, but she didn't pause too long trying to figure it out. When he reached a hand for her purse, she grabbed it and moved in close, elbowing him hard in the gut. As he doubled over, she brought her knee up, breaking his nose on it. As he reeled back, she spun around, smacking him again in the chest and sending him backwards into one of the poles supporting a canopy in this region of the town. He crumpled to the ground, groaning from his injuries. She stood over him, arms crossed. "What's the real reason you tried to grab me?" she growled. "And why would you want to steal my money?"
"I doubt he'll be talking for a while," Zarola commented. "Not with that nose."
"He'll be fine. I'll set it before leaving, and even if it heals off, a crooked nose supposedly is attractive." Sephira grimaced as the words left her mouth. This wasn't like her. This was not who she was. Beating up a soldier, rather than trying to talk things out? But this was the persona she had chosen to adopt for Maxwell. He better be watching this, she growled to herself.

Maxwell watched as Sephira beat up the guard. "Okay, I definitely need to handle this."

Maxwell walked over to her and looked at the guard she beat up. Giants, she messed him up. Maxwell looked up and made eye contact with Sephira.

"Okay, NOW you're causing a scene. You're going to need to come with me if you don't want more of them coming...though I'm sure you could handle then, considering what happened to this guy." Maxwell said, kicking the guard to double check if he was alive.

The guard groaned and looked up at Maxwell. He barely managed to flip him off, which got him another kick to the stomach.
"Never....going...on break....again...." The guard said before falling unconcious.

Sephira glared over her shoulder as another man in uniform walked up to her. "I wasn't," she growled. "And then this man comes up to me trying to steal my purse. I don't care if he's part of your military, I don't trust anyone who insists on handing over my rupees." Goddesses, I hope they use rupees here.
Zarola sniffed the new man, then gave a low purr, although to the inexperienced ear, it could easily be mistaken for a growl. "He's an ambitious man. Not a bad trait."
Sephira's eyes narrowed as she heard the beaten man's gasping words. "Even worse. He was on break. Which means I wasn't causing a scene, he just thought I'd be an easy victim. I might be pretty, but I'm not a fool as well. And what's your quarrel with him anyways? Beating a downed man like that. Termina has bizarre customs." She wondered just how much of her forest accent she was letting flow, but hopefully it would be enough to make her seem foreign and ignorant, without making her suspicious and foolish. After all, the Stari weren't even myths here, like they had been in Hyrule, even if it was a little heard myth.

Maxwell laughed. "You'll find Termina is full of strange people. That's just the way it is, and always will be. It's also a land of fools, with a few unique people here and there."

"Also, this soldier did not approach you because he thought you were an easy target. I told him to approach you. You see, it's not often I see an individual like yourself. But when I do, I figure them out. I try to figure out if they are a friend... Maxwell paused to make eye contact with Sephira. "...or a foe."

Maxwell got the feeling Sephira was hiding something from him, but he knew directly asking her wouldn't get him answers. This would definitely take some deep investigation. She didn't seem as insane as Yuki, or as skilled as Edward, but she was clever.

It's almost as if Edward.... Maxwell stopped himself in the middle of that thought, knowing the only thing that came from thinking about Edward too often was anger, and the last thing he wanted to happen right now was to get angry.

Sephira's eyes narrowed as her heart skipped a beat. Could he be-? "What do you mean, you told him? What man in his right mind would order someone to attack a woman for no reason?" Her voice grew hard, her normally bright blue eyes appearing as cold as ice. "What is so special about me that you find it necessary to investigate me? And with such a crude method too.
"What would it have meant if I had complied to his order?"
she demanded. "That I'm weak, or easily cowed, or an idiot, or some combination of. And if I had protested? That I'm shy, but protective of what's mine. If I had argued, that I'm a negotiator who stands her ground. But by attacking him, I think it tells you that I am a fighter, that I take the initiative, and that I'm a threat if I don't have a reason to ally myself with you."
"But none of that tells you if I'm friend or foe. Right now all you know is that I'm aggressive, perhaps hot-tempered, and that I have no reason right now to like you."
She crossed her arms. "So I hope you have a good reason for me not to slay you right here. Otherwise I'm really going to be making a scene."
"You're making a spectacle of yourself now," Zarola hissed, "with your aggressive tone and stance, and your flames dancing around and among your hair."
Sephira silently swore. She hadn't meant to inform Maxwell of her fire ability, but it had ignited with her temper, which wasn't entirely an act. She supposed it would lend her an even more dangerous edge, the yellow and red flames flickering around her gold hair, and would warn him against trying to attack her. Still, that had been her hidden blade, the weapon he wouldn't know about until it was too late to do anything about it, just in case.

Maxwell noticed the flames in Sephira's hair. What the....?

Maxwell pulled out his sword. "Magic user, spawn of Majora, whatever you are, I'll let you know I'm Maxwell Kal, king of Termina. Disrespectfully talking to me like that in my domain will surely lead to your end. Even if you kill me, my army is too big for you to handle by yourself." Maxwell took a second to breathe. I need to keep my cool...

"Now, either leave, apologize, or you shall die by my blade."

Sephira flicked her hair, allowing the flames to flare momentarily before killing them completely. "Fine then. I'll apologize for the insult you feel I've dealt you, if you'll apologize for that which I feel you've given me. After all, I've simply called you a fool for using such a useless method, while you have ordered your man to attack me and attempt to steal my ruppees, then implied that I'm a fool for allowing my temper to get the better of me, and now you draw your sword on me and insult me, unless I am mistaken as to what Majora is." Her hands dropped to her sides. It would be pointless to draw her bow and arrow, and she had left her sword with James. Her only weapon was her fire. And while it might solve her problem to eliminate Maxwell here and now, her orders had been to get close to him and spy on him. Not a good first impression. But I suppose to pull off my personality, I couldn't be sweet and cute.

She's just like him! This is irritating... Maxwell thought. While what Sephira had said was true, it annoyed him how similar her behavior was to Edward's.

"You have a fair point. I apologize." Maxwell said, sheathing his sword. "What is your name? I usually like to know people who can maim a soldier and win an argument against me in the same day."

Maxwell wasn't completely sure how he felt about this person. She was definitely one of those people who show up at the right place at the right time (seeing as Yuki was MIA and he needed another partner), but she also showed traits of Edward when he started holding grudges against Maxwell for the "evil" things he would do.

Maybe "spawn of Yuki and Edward" would've been a better insult...

Sephira laughed. "I am Sephira Eferie, of Hyrule." She bowed her head and gave Maxwell a deep curtsy. "I apologize for my words, King Maxwell, and I hope that we have no further disputes."
                      "Yeah right," Zarola snorted.
"Since I had the good fortune to meet the ruler of Termina, would you be so kind as to show me around here?" Sephira asked, smiling as she placed one hand on her hip. "This town is unusual to me, and I'm afraid of getting lost. I'm too used to trees to feel entirely safe among stone walls."

Maxwell smiled, but he didn't quite trust Sephira. What a drastic change in mood.... Maxwell thought.

"Very well. I will show you around, Sephira. There are multiple parts of Clock Town. Which would you like to see first?" Maxwell asked. "Seeing as we're in South right now, I suggest going through West, North, then East."

And maybe the mansion for a little while...I'll see how this works out.

Sephira shrugged. "Wherever you chose, Highness. I know nothing of this place, so I want to see everything." Any small hiding place where I can disappear if I need a few moments alone. Any secret passage or crevice where I can sneak a few people in. Any small weakness that I can use to my advantage.
"You are being a bit obvious that you're acting," Zarola muttered. "Angry one moment, smiling and laughing the next? Not exactly subtle."
"I'm still working out my character," Sephira said back. "I'll figure it out, don't worry."
"Better do it soon. You're with the alpha now, the man you're trying to trick. If he senses a rat, you're as good as dead."
Goddesses help me. Give me something I can use.

Maxwell noticed Sephira talk to Zarola and (mentally) freaked out. The hell...? Maxwell thought, looking at Zarola.

"You have the ability to talk to this animal?" Maxwell said, making eye contact with Sephira. He was starting to get really suspicious.

First the mood swing, and now talking to animals? If she hadn't attacked that guard, I might think this Sephira is a figment of my imagination! Maxwell thought. This encounter was certainly going differently than he thought. You know, maybe should've tried using the conversation approach like I did with Yuki.....as much as I hate to admit it, the method I used with Sephira IS quite useless, now that I think about it.

"Ability? No. Knowledge. My people understand the language of animals and use it to keep anyone else from understanding us when we speak." It wasn't a complete lie. After all, Sephira could speak the animal language, but often spoke Hylian when talking to her partners. They could understand her just as well either way. "It's difficult to learn, and I was brought up speaking it as often as Hylian. If you're wanting to learn it, it will take months of hard work." She glanced sideways at him. "That's, of course, assuming you have the talent to learn in the first place. It grows more difficult to learn a new language as you grow older, and animals speak such a unique language compared to our own, it is even more difficult."
She reached down and patted Zarola's head. "The benefit of communing with animals is that they never lie. They might skirt the truth, just like anyone, but they will never flat out lie to you. They will tell you exactly what they think about whatever you ask and this one especially hates to sugar-coat anything. She'll say flat-out what's on her mind, and hates to dance around the topic. If she hates you, she will make it crystal clear with every gesture she makes." The panther growled softly, and Sephira laughed. "Of course, she hates just about everything, so she tends to be a bit grumpy."
                              "Understatement."
