Daniel extended his hand, but frowned at the smell. "Sober, for one," he began, shaking Smythen's hand, "but my name's Daniel." He looked the man up and down. He had clearly been at a party, which made him wonder how long he'd been walking, as there had been no parties nearby when they arrived at the beach. "What are you doing here?"
Catching the hookshot, Daniel eyed it interested. "Thanks, Seric. I haven't used one before, but I'm sure I can make do." He grabbed on to the handle and aimed it at the target. However, before shooting, he turned back to Briana. "Would you like to go first?"

Smythen accepted the hand shake, ashamed at his own intoxicated shape, he wasn't having the best first impression, and he was curious about what was going on.
Excuse my current state he said with a slight grin, I let myself get a little too wild at an afterparty. And as for where I came from, I think I just explained that to you. I work with a, uh, comedic and poetic group. And we were performing at Zora Hall along with The Indigo-Go's, you may have heard of them. I then let myself get a little out of control and went for a walk, lost track of time, and here I am.
Smythen made sure to keep himself composed, he was curious as to the mission these people were in, and his drunken self really wanted to get involved, even though he was not the most adventurous fellow.
May I ask what is going on in here? I have been looking for an adventure recently, and I have seemed to possibly stumbled into one.

Briana wrinkled her nose some at the new person. He smelled of alcohol, and was very clearly drunk. At least he had some decent manners, introducing himself as Smythen. Then she realized that she had never introduced herself and mentally kicked herself for her manners. "We're going to the library down here," she said, in answer to his question. "I'm Briana, a book merchant, and I wanted to see what I could find down here. Unfortunately, Daniel, I don't know how to use this," she added in response to her travelling companion's question.

"We'll both hold you," Sephira told Shade. "That way you won't fall, and hopefully it'll be less uncomfortable." She remembered Midnight hated being held, since he was nearly her height so her holding him was like a child carrying around a cat: very cumbersome.

Seric looked at brianna when she had said she didnt know how o use the hookshot. "Hey Brianna. It's a very simple thing to do. when you have it, aim the red dot at the target up there, pull the lever on the handle to release the hook, then when it hits the target, pull it again to bring you to it. Hold on tightly though, it goes pretty Fast." he said to try to explain the function to her

Nice to meet you Briana Smythen said politely, he was still trying his best to hide his intoxicated state, as he was still immensely curious about this situation and still wanted to tag along.
A library, eh? In this old establishment? Seems a little secluded, probably full of unknown secrets, or it could be useless. But I personally prefer to look on the bright side of life, glass half full as the saying goes. So... Smythen pondered Would it be too big if a hassle for me to piggyback along? I know my current state isn't convincing, have nothing better to do, and although I enjoy my current profession I am grown quiet bored of it recently. I also could bring a few valuable skills to your company. Smythen hoped he had done it well, his mind was obviously still slow from the strong drinks in his system and he really didn't have that many talents, but it was worth taking a shot anyway.

As Smythen tried to convince them to let him tag along, Daniel's mind drifted off as he thought about the many things he had learned so far. It was becoming enough that if he didn't write it all down soon, some of it might slip away. He hoped they would have some time in the library to wander off, which he would take advantage of by writing in his own book. As Smythen finished, Daniel looked to Briana. "Well, I don't know what to say. It's your choice whether he comes along, I guess. Whatever your decision, though," he glanced at Smythen, "I just hope he is lucid enough to use a hookshot." With that, Daniel looked back at the target sign, aimed the hookshot, and fired. The force it pulled him with was incredible, he'd admit that, and as he landed on the other side he took a deep breath to steady himself before throwing it back at Sephira's position. "You're next."

"A bit of a problem with both of us carrying him, Sephira." Maxwell said, looking at Sephira. "How are we going to both carry him, with only one of us holding onto the hookshot, and all make it over? I mean, we could try to do it, but it'd be wildly uncomfortable. Just let me take Shade."

"Watch out, Maxwell. People might start thinking you're nice." Shade said, lying down, waiting for the unpleasant moment where he would have to be carried.

                "Shut up, Shade."

Briana stared at the hookshot in confusion. Red dot? What red dot? No matter what she pointed at, she didn't see a red dot. Did it appear on the hookshot? Or on the wall itself? And where would it come from anyways? She didn't see anything that would cause it to light a red dot. Was it something only Seric could see? It didn't make any sense to her.

Sephira frowned, apparently not having considered that. Then she shrugged, as it didn't matter too much whether she went on her own or with Maxwell. She instead turned her attention to Briana. The poor girl only seemed more confused by Seric's explanation, so she took the weapon from her. "Just point the grapple tip at that up there and release the trigger. Tug it a sec to make sure it's caught, then trip it again." She demonstrated, hitting the soft spot with ease. A quick tug to confirm it wasn't going to buckle, then she released the trigger, allowing the quickly winding chain to pull her over the fence. "Easy as climbing an oak," she said, tossing the hookshot back over before remembering most people couldn't climb trees.

Daniel couldn't help but smile at Sephira's comment. She had used the hookshot with great ease, so he didn't doubt that she was very capable of climbing a tree as well. However, he didn't imagine many other people could. He looked back at Briana through the gate, and upon realizing she hadn't heard him he called out to Smythen. "I do believe it'd be fine if you joined us. Free world and all. Well, just as long as you're able to get past this gate. Wouldn't want you falling to an impaled death now would we?"

(I assume that I'm next to travel over, if not, I can edit and just have Smythen respond)
Smythen was relieved when someone finally responded to him. Everyone else seemed to be so caught up in their own affairs and conversations that he was inclined to just straight up leave and not bother them any longer.
"Thanks" Smythen responded, "been a long time since I have had any sort of excitement in my life, so I appreciate you letting me travel along."
With that, Smythen glanced around, and seeing as no one else was advancing towards the hookshot he went towards it himself. He picked the device up, glancing at it with curiosity. Hookshots were known, of course, around popular culture, but had very little practical use in life, thus they were not exactly popular among the normal folk.
He picked it up, and aimed it at the target above the door. With his intoxicated state, Smythen was worried about his aim, especially with the threats from a certain man regarding if he broke it.
Smythen made sure it was aimed correctly, and fired, closing his eyes upon impact. He hit the soft spot correctly, much to his relief, he yanked on it to make sure it was secure, but it recoiled and smacked him in the face. Smythen was shocked by this, let out a small yelp, and then tried again. He hit the soft spot again, but this time it was secure, so he released the trigger and vaulted himself to the other side. Upon reaching there, he carefully tossed it back over for whoever else had to come over.

Shade nudged Maxwell. "Are you certain we must go over the fence? I would rather not be carried, and I don't really like these people."

Maxwell groaned. "Seriously? Agh, okay." Maxwell looked at the others. "Well, Shade is requesting that him and I leave now, so I'll be heading back up. Are you coming with us, Sephira, or should we just wait for you outside?"

Briana took the hookshot as it was handed back over again and glanced at Maxwell, the only other person on her side. She didn't really want to be the last one over, so she set her shoulders and mimicked those who'd crossed before her. She couldn't help closing her eyes, though, when it started to pull her across, not fond of the suddenly lose of ground beneath her feet. She imagined crashing into the fence, or it grabbing at her dress and tearing the garment. But it was a quick hop over and she landed perfectly safe. She breathed a quiet sigh of relief and was about to hand the device back over to Maxwell when he said he'd be leaving with the wolf.

Sephira nodded. She'd had a feeling Shade wouldn't want to come over the fence, and it was wise of Maxwell to listen to him. When Briana attempted to hand her the hookshot, though, she shook her head. The wall was close to the fence on the side, so she simply planted a foot against the fence, and pushed against it. The small leap brought her to the wall, which she also pushed against, then grabbed the top of the fence and vaulted over, landing on bent knees. She smiled at the watching people as she straightened out again. "No point in staying here if you're leaving. Libraries are fun, and caverns charming, but I'd prefer the open air above."

"Alright, well, we'll be leaving now." Maxwell said, looking at everybody but Sephira and Shade. "It was a pleasure meeting all of you. We may cross paths again, but for now, goodbye."

Daniel stared after the girl, the king, and the wolf. It had been very surprising to meet them here, and he hoped at some point he might meet them again. Knowing how odd it was that he had even met Sephira a second time, he knew a third was practically impossible, but at least he hoped to see Maxwell before the end. He took advantage of the moment to write a few short notes down before nodding at Smythen, smiling at Briana, and following Seric deeper into the complex. Past the first door the fact that they were underground became even more evident. There were cobwebs everywhere and he was surprised to see a stairwell leading even further below. However, Seric was heading to a door on the same floor, so he decided the dark descent would wait till later.
