  • "If this is my last meal, I wouldn't regret it. I wouldn't regret talking to you last, either." Jacky flashed him a smile and stole a bite from his plate. "And that's one last bite of poison for you," When she finished chewing that bite, she spoke again. "Forty eight hours is a long time though, what would you do in the two days before you died, if you know you were going to?"

    • James grinned back and smiled a bit, also taking time to think while chewing on another piece. "48 hours huh... I think I'd probably try to say goodbye to my loved ones, as few as they might be..." He considered though, knowing that he wouldn't want to die in weeping misery. "But, I would probably try to do something. I've heard there's this place under Lake Hylia that's mighty cool. A temple of the zoras of some kind, and it's beautiful and everything. I think I would try to swim down there without drowning. Or maybe, I would get lost in the Lost Woods. Try to find the truth about them, talk to some spirit there. There's also a temple somewhere in them. Or even go into Death Mountain. I mean, I know it's a volcano and all, but wouldn't it be magically spectacular to see it?" He sighed, thinking about all those things. Though he knew, what would most matter to him would be the people he cared about. "48 hours... You?"

      • Jackylin thought about it for a second over two bites of food. "I think I'd try to get back to Hyrule, first of all. See my Mom and Dad and the siblings, and see how good time's been to them. I think I'd try to get into the woods, since it's the only part of Hyrule I haven't been to. And then I think I would wander around in the field, close to the lake." She nodded. "Yeah, that sounds right. I'll be in my favorite Hyrulian place, near my favorite Hyrulain water."

        • "With your favorite Hylian people?" James winked and smiled, then tried to get another bite but his arm felt a shiver go through it and the fork turned over. Some of the food fell back to the plate, but some other managed to get on Jacky. "Oh no, I'm so sorry," he said as he tried to take it off. He rubbed her arm and leg to make sure it didn't leave a stain, but he knew the damage was done.

          • Jackylin laughed. "Don't worry about it, you're not usually left handed, right?" she rubbed at her shirt, brushing her hand over James's a few times. "I don't think it's gonna come out, but I needed to bathe anyway, don't worry about it." She gave him an awkward smile. "Accidents, they happen."

            • James shook his head, still a bit embarrassed despite her calm reaction. "Yeah, not very good with the left hand. Oh well, sorry again," he said, and his hand rested on her's for a moment. "Well, I guess it's true accidents happen," he responded, with a small hint of a sigh in his voice, "but at least not all end up too badly." He smiled at her again.

              • She smiled. "It could've been worse, don't worry about it, alright?" She put her hand on top of his and gave it a squeeze, but she didn't move it away. His hand was callused, contrary to her generally soft ones. While her skin was generally clear, his had scars seemingly all over. "Do you want the rest of my food?" she asked, still incredibly awkward.

                • James gave her a crooked smile and shook his head. "Nah, I think I'm good. Though with all this good, now I feel like I should exercise or something to counter it, despite knowing I can't at least for a while lest something bad happens." He looked at the empty and nearing empty plates, wondering how they'd eaten so fast. It did seem like they had been savagely hungry.

                  • "I think Mom would call that a force of habit. We could walk around the camp, since you can't do anything rigorous." Jackylin suggested. "That sort of counts as excersize." At that, she got up and stretched, grabbing both plates and stacking them. "I'm sure we'd get into some sort of trouble, sitting like bumps on a log." she offered James her free hand.

                    • James chuckled as he took her hand. "Thanks. And yeah, I guess we could walk..." He was silent as they deposited the plates on a nearby platter where a bunch of used silverware and other plates were. Suddenly, an idea popped into his head. "You know, I think I know one thing we could do. If you want, of course," he added hurriedly. He smiled as he finished. "Have you ever used a bow before?"

                      • "The most dangerous thing I've ever held was an angry child and a knife, why?" She asked. She didn't ever have a reason to fight, and she really didn't like to. The most she'd seen were scuffles over prices in the Market, and the Clock Town Carnage.

                        • James smiled at her response. "Well, a bow doesn't have to be dangerous, and it can be quite entertaining when used properly," he said, noticing her discomfort at fighting. "Besides, it has other uses unrelated to fighting and hunting." He shrugged. "I don't know, maybe I could teach you."

                          • "That sounds really nice, actually." She smiled. "It'll give us something to do, and good will come out of it." Jackylin remembered street performers that drove few once or twice, with sword swallowers and Keese Keepers. Twins traveled with the troupe, and they fired arrows together so they stuck in poles with fliers about their next shows.

                            • James smiled and excitedly use his free hand to pull her along. "Come on, let's get back out on the open field." As they hurried back, he continued filling her in on what a bow could do. "Besides, this won't be just any bow. Or just any arrows, for that matter. You've already sort of seen what it can do, with the octorok, but it can be much more. Trust me."

                              • Jackylin followed James into the field, growing more excited the more he talked about his bow. True, it had completely torn apart the octorok, and soaked she and James, he for a second time. When they got into the field though, a phoenix was flying above, though they didn't see it. At least, Jacky didn't. A single feather from that phoenix floated down, being caressed by the wind, and cooled by the air. It landed on Jackylin's head, still warm, while she was laughing at something James had said. "Mm?" She picked it up gently and held it between the two of them. It glowed faintly with heat, shades of reds and oranges dancing along it's length. She studied the sky, but the bird was long gone. "Whose this from, then?" she looked back at James.
