Jacob burst into the place where Lilly, Kota, and Odin where. "In the name of the giants, you will NOT sign that paper!" Jacob said. Jacob looked at Odin. "Odin, buddy, your parents are lieing to you. They only want you back for bad things, not to appreciate you. In fact..." Jacob looked at the paper that was about to be signed. "..I think they only want you so they can transfer some money passed down to you to them!" Suddenly, Jacob snatched the paper, tore it up, and proceeded to glare at Kota and Lilly. "You heartless, cruel twigs! All you want to do is just grab all the money in the world and keep it to yourselves! How can you guys even be my best friend's parents? How can selfish people give birth to a selfless child? I don't understand! You two are the most horrible beings on the planet, you ARE NOT Odin's parents, and if you do or don't mind, I will be taking Odin and saving the innocent people of Clocktown from an invasion by my evil cousin's army!" After yelling all of this, Jacob sighed with tiredness. That speech of sorts had taken a lot of air.
    ~
Near the entrance, the guards were trying to figure out what to do(because they had surprisingly caught up to Jacob). "If we go in there and raise a weapon in Lady Lilly's presence, we'll get banished!" one guard protested. "Yeah, but if we don't get that kid, we sure are going to get a heck of a scolding from Lady Lilly and Sir Kota!" Another one argued. The argument kept going back and forth, one half of the guards saying no and the other half saying yes.

Kaida frowned slightly, but didn't comment. She couldn't recall ever facing a Snapper, although she doubted they would be very difficult. She picked her way carefully along, muttering at Zarola. The panther was much more at home here, and was frisking about excitedly. Kaida felt she could never be at home in such a place, and wondered why the panther seemed to be. She glanced over at Donovan. "About how much further is it?" she asked.

"From what I remember, it's not too much further," Donovan said, pushing a branch out of his face as he passed the old boulder. "And I sure hope I'm remembering everything correctly." He continued forwards in the direction his memory told him, and before long they had reached an opening. Behind some trees ahead was yet another opening which held the big old Deku Palace. They were almost there, but there was just one problem. Ahead of them lay more swamp water separating them from the palace. Purple water. Donovan knew from his past that if you touched that water, you wouldn't last another day before it's poison finished you off. That's how one of Donovan's old friends died, years ago. "Nobody go near that." Donovan said to the group. He looked at the water and realized there was no way to make it across the poison murk. A single island, only large enough for a single tree that filled up all it's space, was almost directly in the middle of the gap. Looking to his sides, Donovan knew the water ran too far to the sides to go around, so they only had one option; going over it. Donovan noticed a vine lying on the ground a few feet away and snatched it up, pulling tension on it. Sturdy enough. As for the tree? Somehow living in the middle of all this gunk. Donovan took a large sigh. "I say we swing across." He looked at the group, feeling like he was asking for suicide. He looked up and the tree and tossed the long vine, still holding one end. It miraculously got tangled up on a few branches, and with a tug, they didn't break.

Alec sheathed his knives which he had drawn inside the cave when he saw the water. He wrinkled his nose and grunted. "I remember why I don't go to the Palace that often," he muttered. He made sure all his things were packed tightly so they wouldn't fall and before he was about to grab the vine thought. He turned to Kaida. "I don't suppose you'd want to go first?" He was merely trying to be a gentleman.

Kaida raised an eyebrow at the question. "You're asking me, the city girl, if I want to swing across first? Uh, no. You go right on ahead." She looked at Zarola. If the water was poisoned, the panther wouldn't be able to swim across. Therefore, she'd be next to know help. Kaida picked at the edge of her breastplate, wondering if she should leave it behind as well. When it came her time to swing, it might make it easier to get the momentum she'd need to get across. If she slipped, however, it would be a loadstone and she might drown. She glanced at the water again. I think I'll keep it on she decided. After all, if the water was poisoned, she'd rather drown than die slowly of poison.

"Yep," Donovan tried to sound sure that everything would be okay, but he still felt worried, tugging once more on the vine. He watched the girl as she pulled at her armor, realizing how his eyes couldn't focus on her face without drifting downward. Then he shook his fear off. He did this stuff all the time! He knew he shouldn't be so worried, even with company. Almost without thinking, he jumped up and off a boulder, swinging sideways in a wide curve, and letting go on the other side with a somersault. Somehow he had kept the vine in his hand even through the roll, so he tossed it across the gap and managed to get it to one of the adventurers. "Almost there!" He called across with a smile.

Alec held back a smile at Kaida's reaction and looked over at where Donovan had landed. He wondered if he would be able to do the same. He took a deep breath and grabbed the vine tightly. He moved up to the boulder from which Donovan had jumped and looked back at Kaida. "I can take Zarola for you. It'll be easier that way." He wasn't sure it would work, but it was all he could do for now.

Kaida fought a wave of panic as she watched Donovan swing across. She had swung across things before, she had to do it often while she was a slave for the pirates, but it rarely was such a big deal if she slipped. She breathed a prayer to the Giants that she would make it alright. She turned to Alec and gave him a tight smile. "I thought I'd leave her here. She seems to know this place, so I doubt she'll try following us."

Alec smiled, realizing she was right. He gave a quick nod and then turned back to Donovan. After a deep breath he backed up a little then made a running jump. He held on tight as the rope took a curve to the right and came around to the place where Donovan was. Once he felt his foot touch the ground he used all his strength to bring the vine to a stop. He took a second to breathe and regain his balance before throwing the vine back to the other side for Kaida to catch.

Kaida caught the vine and glanced at the water. She sighed and climbed the boulder. She took as many steps back as she dared, then ran forward. She hooted with delight as she swung across, her boot heels only just above the surface of the water. She planted her feet on the bank, trying to stop her momentum, but she crashed into Donovan. "Ow," she muttered as her head hit his. "Sorry."

"What have you done!" Kota shouted, shocked at both the sudden appearance of the "supposed-to-be-captured" boy and his brash actions.
"Kota! Lilly!" The older Deku gave them an angered look. "What is the meaning of this! I came all the way here to offer my services and this is what happens?"
"Why you...you..." Lilly trembled with rage. In just one fleeting second she saw her future crumble into a pile of ripped paper. "You little brat! I'll make certain that you'll pay for what you've done!" She revealed a concealed dagger from her dress of leaves.
"M-mommy?" Odin looked with fear as Lilly took a few staggering steps towards Jacob, then lunged forward at the boy. Odin screamed and made an attempt to grab onto her legs, hoping to stop her from hurting his friend.

"No problem," Donovan chuckled as he helped Kaida up. On their feet, he held her arms for an awkward few seconds more than he had intended. "Well, this is it." Donovan turned away to face the large wall ahead of them with a rectangular entrance right in the middle. He had always wondered why the security was so low there. He passed under it and ahead lay more purple water, but luckily, three wooden rafts were set up as a bridge over it, onto Deku land. After crossing the boards, he knew this was officially the Deku Palace, and they needed to move unseen. "From this point forward, we gotta be pretty much invisible." Donovan did have three Deku friends who were usually inside the fortress, but he wasn't sure if they would recognize him, or even still be living. His chances of meeting them seemed very low.

Jacob felt a stabbing pain in his chest as the dagger pierced his skin. "Odin..." Jacob managed to barely whispered before he passed away. However, the fight wasn't over yet....

Past the stars in an unknown place, four ghosts watched Jacob die. "Are you happy now, great grandfather?" one of them asked. "My son is dead, and we didn't help him so you could carry out your stupid little plan." The ghost who was being talked to looked at the angry one. "Richard, will you ever grow up?" The old ghost asked. "Grandfather Benjamin, ignore my brother. He knows nothing." The ghost standing(so to speak) across from Richard. Benjamin looked at him and raised an eyebrow. "You're not much better, Arthur." Benjamin retorted. "I think my husband is twice the man both of you were when you were living." The ghost who had remained silent said. "We shall see about that." Benjamin said as he walked towards the picture of the dead Jacob.

For a moment, Jacob remained still. But after that moment, Jacob's neck snapped up and his eyes opened. One eye was fire red, and the other was icy blue. "You just made a mistake." A voice that seemed to come from Jacob said as whoever was in control pulled out the dagger in Jacob's chest. When it was pulled out, it looked like the dagger had never even touched Jacob, and there was no blood. "I am Jacob's ancestor, Benjamin. I walked this earth along time ago, and I almost killed everyone. But now, I'm just here untill I find some way to revive Jacob." As Benjamin/Jacob spoke, he threw the dagger away and approached Lilly with his sword drawn. "But before I do, I think its time to get revenge."

Jacob's death was not planned, nor did I want him to die. But since it would be kind of cheap for Jacob to dodge Lilly's dagger, I had him die. However, I had Benjamin take control of Jacob's body just so I can revive him later, because I REALLY don't want to get rid of Jacob. Thank you for understanding.)

Alec smiled at how Kaida and Donovan were connecting, but it went unnoticed. He followed after Donovan through the door till he saw the Palace. Just as he remembered it, he could see two Deku guards at the door. Still... "They looked distracted," he ventured, "the guards I mean. I think something's going on inside." He frowned and prayed to the Giants that Jacob was OK.

Kaida noticed the way Donovan's hand lingered, and had to fight the urge to slap it away. As a woman mercenary, she had been subjected to several men touching her. At least it was her arms he was holding, not her rear or chest. She followed him into the palace. When she heard his warning about being invisible, she started planting her feet carefully to make as little noise as possible. She had been hired as a theif often enough to know how to avoid being caught. Kaida glanced behind her at Alec, then turned her attention to the two guards. "You're right. I wonder what's going on?"
