He realized that he'd been rudely staring so he quickly averted his eyes from the marking on her forehead. It was none of his business after all. He noticed how she was trying to keep her sheep from harm, so he motioned for Midnight to move all the way behind him out of the view of the sheep and to lie down. Then he returned his attention to Avalona with a sheepish smile. "Sorry about that. Midnight's really a softie at heart though so you don't have to worry about him attacking your flock. Besides, you seem like a pretty good shepherd," he commented with an impressed tone. "Your control over them shows skill."

Midnight snorted at the sheep, then strode away, towards Sephira. He wanted to make sure she still didn't want to be seen.
Sephira continued to watch from the shadows. She whistled a quick command for Midnight to stay put, which the wolf obeyed, laying down just inside the shelter of the trees and keeping an eye on Elliot. She examained the girl, wondering if she should come out of hiding or not.Phillipians 4:13 - I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Avalona blushed, smiling happily. "Thanks. I've still got a lot to learn, though." She didn't know why, but for some reason she felt she could trust him. She glanced up at the small patch of sky that was visible through the trees. It's getting late... I need to get back to the ranch... She looked at him. "Want to come over for dinner? Boss won't mind, and Mrs. Boss loves having people to fuss over. Miss Midnight can come too, if she wants." She smiled sheepishly. "Besides, it's getting late, and it's not safe to be out here after sunset."Comment

Midnight growled at the impliment he was female. He hated it when humans thought he was a girl. He stood and shook his black coat. He then stalked over to Avalona and bumped her leg. Hard.

Avalona yelped in surprise as she fell hard onto her butt. She laughed, scratching behind Midnight's ears. "I'm sorry, sir. You're so pretty I thought you had to be a lady. Now I see I was mistaken, and I apologize for my assumption." She giggled as a young lamb timidly wobbled over to Midnight and bleated at him curiously.Comment

He stared down at the lamb. He debated snatching it up for a snack, but decided it was part of this girl's pack. She would not be happy if he ate the lamb. Besides, it looked much too fluffy. Elliot hesitated, considering the invite. On one hand, he was kind of hungry at the moment. And besides, it was just a harmless dinner. On the other hand, he knew that Rose probably wouldn't want him gallivanting with some girl he'd just met. He'd feel pretty guilty if he did.
Then he remembered how she'd so easily attached herself to Joshua. He fought back the twinge of anger that surged inside him. And after he'd just managed to calm down, too. "Sure," he said to her, putting on a smile. "I'd love to. After all, it wouldn't be very gentlemanly of me to let you get back home without escorting you, anyway. Oh, but uh...I should probably check up on my kid first. Make sure he's got himself something to eat. Joshua put an arm around Rose and started to lead her north. As he walked, he chattered about the beauties of Zora's Domain and of the Zoras themselves. He wondered faintly if a Gerudo would even like the watery home of the Zoras, but shrugged it off.
