"And Zora are talking fish, while Gorons are moving rocks," Kaida growled. "Talking birds shouldn't surprise you, given what we deal with." She turned her glare to said talking bird. "And don't you dare sass me, sparrow. You want to try something and I'll show you this sword isn't for show." Her sharp green gaze turned on the other, what did she call them, Rito? Just to be sure he got the message as well.

Zulo stepped behind Zaria when she unleashed her sass on the woman called Kaida. He really didn't like where this was going. At first, he was really grateful for the man's arrival as he should have been, but he certainly didn't want to get into any conflicts with the land's natives. For now he cowered behind Zaria without saying a word.

Donovan was quite disappointed at how Kaida acted towards the Ritos, but he had come to expect that kind of thing from her in the past days. It was just that he wanted to get to know these mysterious Ritos, but it wouldn't be possible to ask his questions from behind Kaida's hostility. Yet, he couldn't bring himself to say a word against her. As usual, he didn't want to say anything that could make her upset with him. He liked her too much despite her defensive nature, and she was really all he had.

My name isn't Sparrow, in fact that's horribly offensive. Should I call you ape or orangutan?" Zaria rolled her eyes, and patted the knives on either side of her belt. "Knives can pack the same amount of punch, given the chance," She turned her head and look at Zulo. "Kid, are you okay?" She asked. "If you're afraid now, pray that you don't anger Tyra," she muttered.

When Zaria spoke to Zulo, he straightened himself out a little and stepped back. "Yeah," he began with a nervous pause. "I'm fine."

"Tyra?" Donovan blurted curiously. He didn't feel very threatened by the birds, considering he just had to save them, though it wasn't a settling sight to see the girl put her hands on her knives like that. He wouldn't want to have to harm the Ritos. But he was curious about this Tyra, because if there were more Ritos they could get in trouble if Kaida didn't watch her mouth. "Are there more of you?" He meant to ask politely, though he wasn't sure if it sounded that way.

"All over the canyon, yes," Zaria answered, trying hard to give them complete answers while not giving away the rest of the crew, or where they'd all come from. She took one hand off of her belt but left the other there, tapping the hilt of one of her knives. "Other creatures too, though I cannot recall the name..." If memory of the maps stolen from Rhykim were true, there was a canyon somewhere in Termina, no doubt housing some creature other than Rito. Back home, Logata Canyon was crawling with them and the Draco.

Kaida snorted. "I might not know the canyon as well as Donovan does, but I know for a fact that there's none of your kind in it, sparrow," she added with extra emphasis. "And even if you were from there, you'd know about the other inhabitants. Little hard to forget ReDeads and Stalfos." She shook her sword, removing the last traces of blood from the blade, and sheathed it. It didn't seem like she'd need it against these overgrown turkeys, although she kept her hand resting on the hilt.

Zaria rolled her eyes. "You're right, it is hard to forget with their constant screaming, but have you ever considered that that's why the Rito stay hidden all the time? If it weren't for them we'd rule that Canyon, but we've nowhere else to go." She sighed, knowing her plan to seem useless would fail miserably, but it was nice to play victim on occasion. "Zulo, don't you think it's time we headed back to find mom, or would you rather stay here with Donovan and Primate?" She hopped he would catch on that "mom" was actually Tyra, but she truly had no preference on whether they would stay in the clearing or check in with the crew.

Zulo stood shocked at the shots being fired between Zaria and the woman, and snapped to his senses a moment after his fellow Rito spoke to him. "Ye-yeah, we better get going," he nodded to Donovan, having much more respect for him than his lady partner. "Thanks again." He didn't pay the woman a glance as he and Zaria turned to leave.

Donovan returned the Rito boy's gesture and silently watched them as they left, feeling the sting of disappointment. He thought he would get more than that out of saving their lives, but Kaida kinda came and screwed it up. But as usual, he kept his cool and didn't freak out at her. He knew doing that wouldn't make anything better. He stood up off the rock he had been sitting on, watching in awe as the Ritos glided away. Actually, he couldn't really tell if he was dreaming or not. Things had gotten unusual real fast. He was still flaring with curiosity. "Where the hell did those things come from?" He made sure to sound a little disrespectful for the Ritos so Kaida wouldn't be disgusted at his sympathy for them. He was seriously wondering where they had come from, though. And deep down, he was a little worried that the duo might return with a bird tribe after how Kaida had treated them. Though, their tribe, if they had one, couldn't be from anywhere nearby if he hadn't seen them before. The results of an experiment, perhaps? He didn't know much about the place, but he had heard some crazy things about the lab down the coast. That could explain the black zora as well. Either that, or possibly something in the water.

Kaida watched the birds warily until they were out of sight, then turned her green glare back on Donovan. "Not from around here, that's all I know or care. I've never heard of a Rito, and with feathers like those, they'd be wanted by several dealers. The black market would have notices of them. So they're clearly not from Termina, or likely the rest of the continent. Either way, it doesn't matter, they'll be long gone soon enough." She grabbed him by the elbow and steered him back to their cottage. "Next time you see some strange creature attacking another one, you leave them alone and see which one wins. No point in interfering with something like that. Now, if you watch and see an opportunity, then get them both. Those black scales on that Zora will be valuable, as would those feathers."

"I'll remember that next time," Donovan sighed, walking with Kaida back towards their hut down the beach. There was a moment where nobody spoke. He actually didn't agree with what she was saying at all, but like always he wasn't in the mood to argue. He didn't really mind her way of life enough to criticize it, but Donovan himself would feel too guilty to make a profit off nature in the way Kaida did. Selling food in the market was one thing that made plenty of sense to Donovan, but in the case of that black Zora, he would rather leave the corpse there. To him, Zoras were just aquatic Terminans. Still, he wouldn't stop Kaida if she wanted to tear the scales off the thing. "So, you plan on selling those black scales?" he asked as they walked, not fully interested. "Bet they haven't ever seen anything like that before. How much do you think you'll make?"

Kaida glanced back. "Maybe not from a Zora, but black scales can come of some kinds of fish. And I've seen a few black dragons before, although they're a pain to bring down. How well I can skin it will determine how much I get, but I usually get a pretty high number." She turned back to him with a smirk. "And no, you won't. There's not going to be a next time, because you'll be either inside or with me if that sort of thing happens again."

Donovan winced a bit at Kaida's last comment. He liked her protectiveness of him and it made him feel loved, though perhaps it was going too far. She should have known by now that he could handle himself. After all, he had lived much of his life alone in the wild until he had met Kaida. Though, in honesty he probably wouldn't travel alone very much anymore, just because he liked being with Kaida so much.

In a matter of minutes the duo were back at their shabby hut on the shore. At this time, the sun was beginning it's descent towards the horizon. Kaida had led the way for the whole walk there, as if making sure Donovan knew she was the alpha wolf. She was the one to pull aside the leafy curtain that served as the hut door, and the first to notice the unexpected visitor inside. Donovan peeked over her shoulder to see who it was.

It was a man, cowering and trembling in a crouched position--he was definitely hiding from something, but Donovan had no idea what. Alarmed, the man whipped around upon Donovan and Kaida's arrival to reveal a face Don didn't recognize. He could tell the man was a good deal older than himself, maybe by 20 or 30 years. The rather skinny man wore a leather vest for a top and tattered green pants. Within his white knuckles he held a machete. The blade looked fairly worn, though Donovan didn't see how such a cowardly looking man would have made use of it. The man's facial features were a little angular and he had a weak red goatee growing. On his head he wore a brown hat with a rim that went all the way around it. His face was dripping with nervous sweat. It didn't look like the man was in any position to attack, though Donovan had no doubt that Kaida would still give the man hell.

Kaida froze as she saw a man in their cabin, shocked that someone was there. Her mind raced, trying to place his face, but she couldn't. Her sword sprang from its sheath and she leveled it at the man, her eyes narrowed into angry slits. "What are you doing here and why?" she growled. She never trusted strangers, and she certainly didn't trust them when they appeared in her house without warning. She had a target on her back from the people she'd stolen from and whose relatives she'd killed for bounties, enough of one that her paranoia was warranted.

"A... it..." the man stuttered, too shocked to put together a sentence. "Shh!" he struggled against Kaida's grip, trying to turn back to continue peering out the hole in the side of the hut. Suddenly the hole was torn larger and a set of charcoal-black arms reached out of it, seizing the man by the neck and tugging his body outside. This happened so quickly that Donovan was unable to grab the man. In fact, nobody had time to do anything before the man's neck was slit by the black beast's spiky arm fin. The attacker then proceeded to climb into the hut, now going after Donovan and Kaida for no motive but bloodlust. By now Donovan had gotten a clear look at the monster, and it turned out to be another black Zora, identical to the last one. Though, Donovan knew it couldn't have been the same one from before. It was just as rabid, though. Donovan swung his sword at the enemy, only to have it slapped aside and out of Donovan's hands. This did leave a slash on the Zora's hand, though it didn't seem to pay attention to the wound at all and reached out to grab Kaida.

Kaida flinched as something long and black grabbed the stranger and pulled him outside. She could see, around the glare of the evening sun, a black Zora kill the stranger and turn to climb inside. She readied her sword, waiting for it to get close enough, but Donovan attacked it. She cursed under her breath as the creature slapped his sword away, sending him sprawling across the room. As it reached for her, however, she reacted with a little more speed than it could respond to, slashing across its chest with her long blade before it could bat her weapon aside. The strength of the blow forced her to release her sword, though, or risk being bowled over as well. Instead, she drew a knife from her belt and dodged around the creature, trusting her speed to keep it from hitting her head and her breastplate to protect the rest of her body.
