As soon as Elliot caught site of the two boys, he could tell they'd been fighting. Jame's cheek looked like it was already starting to swell and Tennor wasn't looking much better. Still, he bit back his urge to reprimand them, not wanting to seem overprotective or overbearing. He had to remind himself that James was a tough kid and that he could handle a punch or two.
"Hey, I got something for you, dad," James called out to him, breaking his train of thought. "It's over there on the counter, I hope it helps." Elliot threw him a questioning look before walking over to the counter and picking up the cloth bag that James had motioned him over to. It was definitely on the weighty side. He untied the knot that held the bag closed and peered inside.
And gasped. That had to have been a lot more than three hundred rupees. Like a lot more. Because everything in there were golden rupees. He tied the bag shut again and shook his head. "Nuhuh," he said, giving James a firm look. "I hope you're not planning on using all of this for the house. Three hundred, maybe, but the rest should be for you. Buy some clothes or a new weapon. Or better yet, save up for education. That's important, you know. But I don't want you spending all of your life-savings on this." He tossed the bag back over to James.
